[3.13] Build Trade Network bug?

So, I tend to be fairly methodical with workers and improvements, but sometimes if I have some idle, I'll automate a couple to build trade network. Since 3.13, I've encountered a bug in two separate games where the workers will build forts over a resource instead of the necessary improvement. These are resources that I have the technology to improve. I even had "Automated Workers Leave Old Improvements" off because I forgot to reset it after the patch, and they would remove pastures and farms for forts.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

First of: Welcome to CFC :band: :)
This is not a bug, forts give access to the resource and provide you with defense bonus - so if the resource is outside your cities' fat crosses it is good to build forts instead of the improvement.
This has now been reported for the umpteenth time and what it comes down to is: the civilopedia sucks, I should put it into my sig: don'T trust the civilopedia it was written before any alpha testers got their hands on Civilization :gripe:
:)

That's semi-unfair. If you go into the "BTS Concepts" page, and then click on "Updated Forts", it very clearly says that Forts will now connect resources.

It's just that no one ever reads that stuff. :)

:) You are right this is unfair, but only partly. The problem is the Forts entry itself which does not say anything about the trade network thing, nor about the fact that it acts as a harbor or even a canal now, nor that you can have air units stationed there - instead of updating the whole thing they added the new stuff to a list of whats new, but that is not the place people look first :)
and I already conceded elsewhere that they made a decent attempt at updating the Civilopedia in BtS - instead of writing it prior to Alpha-Testing they now updated it at the same time as the printed manual  i.e. sometime at the start of Beta testing

Ah, my mistake. Only had BtS for about a week. I knew about Forts gaining a major defense bonus, and even the canal thing. Just didn't realize they gave access to the resource. I'm so accustomed to them being practically useless that I just assumed there was a problem. A search of the forums would probably have saved everyone alot of time.
