Please remember, Sala can be a 4T warrior/settler factory @ size 5 with 4 BG's mined. with only 2 BG's mined, it's a 4T settler factory. Probably only 2 warriors are needed to correct it, and it should be able to be built in 4T with the growth. This will allow us to get more gpt = faster research :)

Just a heads up that I'll be unavailable from 11/24 until 11/28 and will need to be skipped should by turn come up.

(Darn that was too fast, I'll have to wait to post this one.....)

The save at 1500BC

Preturn: Barb camp south of Salamanca should get dispersed before we have a dozen horses tearing Salamanca's improvements apart.

IBT- Viagra: Settler>warrior. Cattaraugus: worker>warrior

Turn 1 (1725BC) John moves SW to start road from Cattaraugus. Ann and Bee start mining.

IBT: Salamanca warrior> warrior. BH on the way to undefended Oil Springs. Another by Rheims.

Turn 2 (1700BC) Ector forts in Salamanca. Cass starts mining at Sala. Our curraghs sail on.

IBT- French warrior offs the BH by Rheims. BH forts by Sala.

Turn 3 (1675BC) Mauch Chunk founded. Warrior starts there.

IBT- Sala, Viagra, and Oil Springs create warriors. BC loses a warrior, presumably to the French. BH remains.

Turn 4 (1650BC) Lost it somewhere….

Turn 5 (1625BC) Conan moves next to the camp.

IBT- French lose what I assume was a warrior to the BH, that redlines but survives.

Turn 6 (1600BC) Drake encounters a land lubber of Mongolian descent. He is ignored by our tactless captain.

IBT- Viagra warrior>settler. Tonawanda curragh> worker. Allegheny warrior>worker.

Turn 7 (1575BC) Magellan sails from Tona and uncovers Marseilles. Drake encounters its second civ in as many turns. Nicaea of the Byzantines size 1, reg spear defending. Holding a settler back until we find an escort in the east.

IBT- Philo> Lit in 18. No free advance, so we’re not picking up anything. Magellan redlined by BG, but emerges victorious. :)

Turn 8 (1550BC) Magellan pulls into Tona drydock for repairs.

IBT- Theodora calls out to the Drake: “Trade Philo for Ceremonial Burial?” Captain replies, “No, we just throw ‘em over the sides when they’re gone, but thanks for asking!” :D Sala-settler>settler.

Turn 9 (1525BC) Devil’s Tower founded S-SE of volcano. Have to put a scientist in Allegheny to keep them happy. Gawain escorting settler south of Salamanca.

IBT- BH kills defending warrior at Oil Springs, lose 1 pop. French kill BW on camp by Cattaraugus. Byzantines building Pyramids. Constantinople completes Colossus.

Turn 10 (1500BC) Reg warrior Goliath slays BW and collects 25g from camp south of Salamanca. :D Conan does the same by Cattaraugus. :D :D Ty starts a forest chop by Allegheny. Worker due in two there, so after it comes in, switch to something else, because it will be down to pop 1 when chop comes in. Magellan sets sail once more from Tona, Inuit galley just out of range. Sending Tyr back to Allegheny to patrol the streets and keep citizens content. And done.

Post turn: 82 gold at the end because of the Barb camp windfall. Byzantines and Aztecs lead us in scoring, 445-372-278. France brings up the rear at 267. Oracle and Pyramids in the wonder queue. Salamanca has 6 BGs mined, #7 under development with 2 workers ready to start #8. Lit is due in 15, so we need to decide when to stop kicking out settlers and save the pop to work the 20+ shields we will potentially have available for Glib if we are going that route. Fair bet once we get education, someone will try to extort it.

i got it. using Sala to build the GLib can be done, but without a prebuild, i have my doubts that we'll get it. Lets see, 400s ~ 13 swords or horses. we can try, though, just hope someone doesn't finish the pyramids in 15T :) Do we have iron or horses? Do we even know the wheel or IW? i'm thinking that we totally sold out of the GLib gambit, but just want to make sure.

at this point in the game, i just ignore the score. # of cities is more important.

We don't know either advance. The AI keeps wanting to offer us CB for what we have. Since we can't bargain or even call on them, we have to either self-research or get the GLib. We're likely only building warriors until education comes in, then we can go back and research those techs which should be fast and cheap.

Well, I guess I screwed up on going for Philo instead of Lit directly. I had thought that with less turns, we would have gotten it first and taken lit as the free tech. Sorry about that. The CB thing is frustrating a bit too. If we miss lit, then we should probably get CB out of the way just to give ourselves a chance at a trade.

no, delaying lit is correct. we don't want to make it cheap for the ai until we're ready. it looks like that's been decided so here we go! i will concentrate on getting Sala's pop up so we can produce the maximum spt. @20spt (per M60), we need 20T. Hopefully, we can do it with a pyramids prebuild, but i'm a little doubtful as i haven't built the GLib on demigod since gotm25 (korea), a modded ptw demigod game. otherwise, i don't use it at all but rely on sticks and swords. it'll be interesting to see if we can pull it off.

We aren't doing too badly except in tech. We've still got a lot of land to fill in. Once we get a chance let's send a warrior SW and check out how far that land goes. Drake will probably meet at least one more AI on his trip around the Aztec island. How many tribes in this game? (need to know which one is dad)

It's going to be tough to get the Great Library built. Would it be a good idea to try to help France build it for us (not sure how to accomplish that however)?

Salamanca with all BGs mined at pop 12 can do the GLib in 17 turns, and the AI still has to research lit if we don't cave into any demands. Let's go for it.

the biggest problem is the wonder cascade. if someone builds the pyramids and then cascades the oracle, we won't have a decent prebuild in Sala. demigod AI only needs 280 shields for Pyr and GLib. i will concentrate on getting the pop up in sala to do this. have we gotten the pop up to do a 5/7 pump yet or are we still dithering @ 5T between 2 and 5?

IIRC Sala was at pop 6 when I kicked the last settler out on turn 9, and started another one. So I think it's pop 4, going on 5. There are three workers still putting or are ready to put mines in at Sala. 7 of the 10 BGs are mined now. There are about 3 worker builds in queue in surrounding towns. So realistically, Sala only needs about 3 more pops to be boosted to around 12 with the added workers, after the remaining BGs are put in.

Go for it g-man!

Preflight check: Only prebuild available is MoM. We’re a little smaller than desired and in a huge tech hole as we have 0 necessary techs. We need the Glib very badly if we’re going to make this a competitive game.
Cities look as good as they can be.
Switch Sala to a worker. I’m going to build 3 or 4 and then get the pop up to 7 (empty granary) before rejoining. We also need more tiles improved, especially the river BG’s!

IBT: Sala worker -> worker

T1: 1475BC

IBT: Tonawanda worker -> warrior; Allegany worker -> warrior; Byz building ToA

T2: 1450BC Kill a barb up north. Dingys explore

IBT: Sala worker -> worker; Mauna Chunk worker -> warrior; doh, chop outside of Allegany actually goes into the town build, giving us a quick warrior

T3: 1425BC Centralia founded -> barracks

IBT: Viagra falls: settler -> barracks; Allegany warrior -> curragh; Catt warrior -> settler; Oil Springs warrior -> settler
Mongols complete Oracle

T4: 1400BC Kill a barb but no promotion

IBT: sala worker -> MoM everyone cascades to ToA

T5: 1375BC no much

IBT: Jap’s complete MoM

T6: 1350BC Switch sala to a worker. No prebuild for us :( Warrior dies attacking a barb camp.

IBT: Sala worker -> settler; Tonawanda warrior -> warrior

T7: 1325BC

T8: 1300BC A warrior joins sala so I can temporarily bump science up to 90%

IBT: Devil’s tower warrior -> worker

T9: 1275BC Found Mystic, will get 2 whales if we ever get CB.

T10: 1250BC Settler due in 1T from Sala. I would recommend that we then build a barracks as a prebuild for Glib as we’re 4T from lit and only 1T from the settler. We should have enough tiles improved now or very soon. Recommend we get the gems connected too. We should let the pop in Sala grow to 7 before joining 5 workers. We can get up to size 7 in 6T after this settler.

Good luck.

edit: sorry, i meant for oil springs to build a settler next. next player should evaluate if a change is desirable.

Just to be clear on the optimal production for Salamanca, at pop 12 with the 10BG's that leaves two tiles to work. We can mine the cow if the food bin is full, or near full, and then work the forest tile. That gives us a -1 in the food bin, and it should be a slow enough loss to ride out the GLib build cycle without losing a pop. That's 25 spt. If we don't cave when the AI demands Lit, we should be able to pull it off.
