I do not like green Celts and Byz

I do not like them in north or west; there is no section I like them best.

What to do, what to do? I know, review Sun Tzu. Enemy strong retreat therefore we will beat feet.

Preflight change GR, Cherbourg, Gand. paris and logorno to trebs.

IT: Celts and Mongols sign TE. Celts declare because of MPP with Byz. (Now you know why I do not like green celts and byz. I do not like them in our boats. I do not like them on our shores. I think I will go make smores.

1210: science to 30%

IT: Lots of naval bombards upon our shores.

1220: up lux to 30% in anticipation of losing our dyes.

IT: Eat the smores and think some mores. Notice the island off our shores (to Bedes other right off of Chartres). It has coal to rock and roll.

kiohero becomes dispensable with more coal. Something to think on while we go "woe, woe"

1230: drop sci to 20%

IT: More naval bombardment on our shores. Aztecs and France sign TE. Cherbourg falls to Dad. Celts moving in on GR. Think I'll go soak my liver.

1240: Relocate GR forces to Neo. in anticipation of attack by Brenni or Theo.

IT: Logorno falls to Dad. This makes me really sad.
Grand river falls to Theo. makes us p.o'd
Gand. to Byz. Get us in a tizzy. Riot in Chartres.

1250: Lot's of moves left. turn over now due to lack of ideas as to how to proceed. We just don't have enough units to fight effectively anywhere which is enough to cause a mega scare. Dad won't speak; we're really up the creek. Nationalism is within reach but I expect enemy units on the beach (near Salty Hills).

Our inability to talk has made me take a balk.

From AdmK to DrS?

:rotfl:

Smores and scotch, eew!

despite all the bad news, that was one of the best logs i've ever read

Since I had a hand in getting us into this, I'll see if I can right the ship. Having to wait for them to come to us for peace is going to make it a lot tougher. Task #1 is getting peace with Dad ASAP. Task #2 is stablize the front lines losing as little as possible. I'm guessing Espionage is the next tech target (as opposed to Replaceable Parts).

I got it and will try to play tonight. SGOTM5 is in front of this one, so it might have to wait until tomorrow.

A quick update:

I appear to have been smiled upon by the great spirits (must be because it's my birthday week). Our defenders at Neokatdhat held on the first turn and both Spain and the Mongols came calling during the interturn and we signed peace (managed to trade Steam & $$ to Spain for Nationalism in the deal). That made dad consent to speak to us and for Neokatdhat dad will sign peace, we then trade silks to dad to for dyes. Also managed to During the next interturn, both Joan & Theodora come to call and peace is signed with each (giving a little gold to Dora). That left only the Celts. A 22 unit SOD (mostly rifles) attacked Omentorara, defended by 2 muskets, 2 pikes & 6 Cavalry, we lost both pikes and 4 of the cavalry, but killed the other 16 Celt units. The Celts then came calling and we signed peace giving a small amount of gold. Will start turn 5 tomorrow night.

Woo hoo! [dance]

Nice job Denyd. When you're done, I'll try not to mess it up again too much. :D

sounds good so far :goodjob: with nationlism in, i think the next tech towards espionage is industrialization. try to use prebuilds for the factories. it is important that at least Sala, Viagra Falls and the FP town get factories quickly after the tech is discovered. we might as well start coal plants there too before we loss our source of coal.

factories = 240 shields so palace for 1 town, then cathedrals or universities for the others (or whatever is available)

based on our progress (or lack of it), it seems that M60's suggestion for a space win may be right. but we still need to steal our way to parity :)

If the Fatherland civ declares on us, we must fight a strictly defensive war (cannot capture Fatherland cities).

Could we please have a clarification on this? Specifically, can we

a) Pillage fatherland tiles through units or cannon/artillery/bombers
b) Destroy units in a fatherland city provided the loss of said units do not cause the city to fall
c) Initiate a full-scale nuclear attack if we are at war :nuke:

a -> no
b -> no
c -> no, but we can retaliate if he nukes us 1st. actually, if he nukes us, we can open a debate as to whether or not he's really our father

I think a lot of the luck came from the prior leaders work. The only things that causes the AI to contact you during war are losses (cities & units) and seeing you at war with less people. Once the Spanish signed peace, the Mongols must have felt that they had nothing to gain by staying at war. I was surprised that killing just a couple of Byzantine cavalry cause Theodora to come calling. Someone before me must have done quite a lot of damage to her troops. Dad was the easiest to settle with due to the fact that we could contact him ourselves. The Celts scared me, if they had waited for offensive units instead of attacking with riflemen we would have been in a world of hurt. When they lost most of their SOD, I wasn't as worried about them, though our defenses were still quite strained. I didn't mind giving up a little gold to get peace with them to allow us to stabilize our production and economy and get a better perimeter defense setup.

I'm currently researching industrialization and will switch alot of builds to factory pre-builds. I'll try to get a couple more rifles to the NW just in case somebody decides to break the peace.

I expect once the peace with Theodora runs out, we'll attempt to reclaim the NW and it's resources. My one fear for a quick loss would be via the UN and I don't see any way to prevent it at this time.

Like I said before, I was clueless. I plinked away at Celtic targets of opportunity, but it didn't seem to be getting us anywhere. I'm suprised by Theo. since i think i only took out 1-4 of her cav. Dad's even more suprising. I tried to talk every turn and it was always "No, not now" or something to that effect.

Do we still have Salty Hills? If we do, rush a harbor?

Long term, still think we need to do the Lenin thing - Josef, not John. Although Help might be appropriate music.

My apologies, SGOTM5 took all my available time tonight. I'll finish this up tomorrow.

Yes, we managed to keep Salty Hills. Theo contacted me after I killed 4 of her Cavs and she lost 3 attacking a city defended by a pair of red-lined muskets. I think dad was willing to talk because 4 others had already signed peace.

In looking over the latest save, we have a definite need to swell the ranks of the working class. I would propose at least doubling our current native worker pool, which is around 14 or so, I believe. Need serious rails, and soon.
