close but no it wasnt the russians

Americans on a ship thought it was good idea to shoot at the plane carrying Churchill and Roosevelt (or was the ship the Roosevelt  )

wow, i thought it was only once,, looks like it might have been more than once... since i will be away tomorrow ( ill be back around 1800 Eastern time) if nobodys got then, Ill explain my answer.

When somebody mentions the word "FriendlyFire" only one nation comes to mind.
As the British are found of saying the "Yanks" :D

As one British commentator said. The Allies consisted of the British, French, Russian and the Yanks. lololol

Me 109 and Spitfire were almost equal for very long in the war. Although both planes were superior in certain aspects. However when the Spitfire IX appeared this plane took the lead- until a bit later a new enemy appeared: FW 190.

I recall from playing Battle of Britan that the spitfire had a much tighter turning radious which allowed the spitfire to S turn out the 109. While the 109 had much faster climbing rate which allowed it to out climb the spitfire.

Fond memories.
I recall hacking 3 stuka bombers out of the sky in a single slow pass.

ok nobody answered so I guess ill answer the one I thought. When Churchill was returning to England from the US, his plane went off course, into German territory, so he was being shot at by the Germans. Now once they got out of that, the brits thought it was a German plane and they sent fighters up after it. Luckily they never found it and DIDNT shoot it down. Floors free Im on vacation, ill be doing all this from my laptop... is ..d..d... dial up :<

The main advantage that the Me109e had over the Spitfire Mk I (according the the RAF study of the time) was it's use of fuel injection rather than a carburetor
(like the Spitfire had). The effect was that while 109 could perform negative-G maneuvers, the Spitfire could not. Because of this, a skilled German pilot was able to shake a pursuer by making a negative-G turn. They also identified that the Spitfire had a smaller turning circle and a faster rate of roll.

Didnt the spitfire pilots also used this too there own advantage ?
I recall they would go into a steep climb allow the engine to be depired of fuel and the pull a much sharper turn. Very cunning of the Brits

Ok Time for a new Question:

When the Germans produced the new Stug panzers there was a shortcomming with the lack of ammunition. Each Strum III could only carry a max load of 45 rounds, This proved a serious problem in the Russian campaign as ammunition storage was of critical importance.

Q How did the crews of the Strum overcome this problem.
(For those of you who are smarter. *coff* Hudson *coff* How many rounds did they carry.) :D

EDIT: (I pretty sure they first started during the Eastern campaign)

Was it an 'armored' cart trailing behind the Stug?

didint they use artillery men instead of tanker... casue they were better at using less ammo to hit thier target, read that somewhere

Is it definately the Stug III we're discussing here and not the Stug IV?

I don't recall any Stugs that were using the 50mm gun, they only used to the 75mm and 105mm from what I remember.

Damn, that's it.
They downgraded one of them to a smaller caliber (it's hard to twell with the Airfix models :) )

Sorry guys nice guess all round.

Yes the Stug crews consider themselves artillary men. A point of fact they had artillary men styled uniforms different from the black panzer crew outfitts. No it was not reduction in size of the Gun. Were talking 41 here when StugIII with shortbarrel 75 Gun. Which proved inaequet against the newer russian tanks. The calibar of the gun only got bigger.
Hudson:The L43 Version StugIII was introduced in 42 and they produced StugIIs right upto the end of the war. Iam pretty sure they would have done the same using the StugIV as well.

HINT: The extra amo being carried was due to the ingenious adaptations by the crews. made in field

Wasn't this the assault gun that had extra ammunition carried in the engine compartment?
