Miale? Your answer anyway Noncon.

Believe it was used by the British too as the Chariot.

Noncon was first one to answer right so it's his question
CruddyLeper: IIRC it's Maiale. You forgot one A :D

Okay, a fairly easy one this time:

What legendary answer was given to a German when he crossed over to the surrounded British lines at Arnhem, do discuss surrender?
(Paraphrasing etc. allowed).

That the British commander was sorry, but that he was unable
to accept the German's surrender?

"We haven't got the facilities old chap".

Rather different to Spike Milligan's CO in Tunisia - he just said "Shoo! Clear off"

Correct!
Sorry, Serutan, but Cruddy got closer than you.
I thought it was fantastic bit of "stiff upper-lip" at a crucial time.

As Serutan answered quicker than me, I give the honour of the next question to them. I was more worred about getting the Milligan reference in to be honest.

Anyway, I haven't got one handy. :)

Go Serutan!

Ok, if you want me to...

What disease did the Japanese spread ( in a bio warfare sense)
around China during WW2?

Wasn't it Anthrax? , as well as plague, cholera and typhoid.

Japanese formed the infamous Unit 731. :cringe:

Plague is what I had in mind. Your question, dgfred.

:D What Allied ship sunk six Axis submarines in one month?

I would guess an S class destroyer - either on the Arctic convoys or (more likely) in the Med during the Sicily or Salerno landings.

Which one though? :crazyeye:

'Destroyer Escort' ;) , named after 'another country' :crazyeye: :D

The USS England attacked and destroyed 6 Japanese submarines in only
a 12 day period in 1944 thus becoming the champion of anti-sub warfare :goodjob: . :salute: .

Open floor for next question :scan: .

Okay guys, just something I read up on a short while ago...forgive me if you consider this morbid...
Since this is intentionally difficult, and vague, it Googleable (is that a word?)
What is the strangest death of any U-boat sailor?
