40k NES Preview/Sign-up/OOC Thread

But isn't it Update 2? Also, you missed a few bits in the Hand of Khaine.

Still, nice. According to my plan going the things are.

D'oh. Thanks das, corrected the update number.

What did I miss with the Hand of Khaine?

Look at the last two paragraphs.

Hmm... I don't see it. The battles for Junee and Varnee are updated for what I can tell. Could you quote me the problem areas?

The Orks were in a bad position. Thrown out of their fortresses, on the run already, and caught in a countryside in revolt, the Orkish warbands were cut off, surrounded, and taken apart methodically by the Hrud and Eldar forces. With the Orks ?

By the end of the ?

That is what I meant.

Charles, just write a story, proofread it, then use the edit function to erase your OOC post.

Thanks Iggy.

Charles Li, it is obvious from your mangled starting stats, your posting of OOC stuff in the IC thread, and your actions in other NESes that you have not even read the rules, let alone have the capability to follow them.

I am sorry to say that you will not be joining this game.

das and Niklas,
I've fixed the problem with the Hand of Khaine moderation.

A good question. Games Workshop hasn't, to my knowledge, done anything to do with non-space naval.

I'd assume that in the situation of a planetary invasion, anyone with the ability to blockade, bombard, and assault a planet could pretty easily annihilate water-based ships from orbit. They're huge targets that can't more very fast and would have a very difficult time fighting back.

That being said, I've honestly never thought about it before and I'm open to suggestions from the floor.

EDIT: The same argument against naval vessels could also theoretically be made about Warlord and Imperator class titans, now that I think about it.

Ships are an interesting issue... in theory the advanced space ships and such should be able to destroy them but its not like naval ships wouldnt have continued to advance alongside all the advancements in other military technology.

The hard bit would be creating naval ships for races like Eldar, Tyranids and the such... Orks wouldnt be too hard they'd just scrap metal together and believe it would float. Chaos would just corrupt stuff... the other races probably have some sort of naval ship too...

We could just have really basic names and not much description :P But that wouldnt be any different to say modern world nes's

The thing about naval ships is that they would usually be just about useless as long as you have space ships. And in the absence of space ships, they would indeed make good targets. That said, there are some situations where it could be of use; perhaps of far greater interest and potential is the underwater dimension, both because it would probably not be quite as easy to hit and because of the assorted resources there (a factor that would be far more valuable in this NES than in the tabletop games, ofcourse).
