40k NES Preview/Sign-up/OOC Thread

Nice. Just pointing out, the descriptor for Vernith is Veryn. Also, is there a map?

All in all, things are going well.

Also, how did my recruiting efforts on Home go?

Map will be coming along with stats and the first flashpoint when I return from Melbourne.

I'll change the descriptor when I return as well.

You managed to recruit 1 more unit of militia before the stream of refugees stopped, the Homite military has stayed loyal to the native government.

Thank you.

Sorry about the delay guys. I got back from an awesome time in Melbourne and have been swamped with stuff since then.

I'm preparing for an intercontinental move back to the Great White North and the associated errands/problems/farewells are sucking up most of my time right now. I plan to do everything tonight at some point.

Fulton's computer has a case of the "Is a piece of garbage now". The update will be a while. Don't know how long.

Thanks for passing the message on labrat.

Ok, the new stats are up as is the new map. Flashpoint is coming tomorrow morning. Sorry again about all of these problems and delays. My computer was completely messed up and I could barely do anything. It seems to have worked out the bugs in its system and we can continue….

From now on, the following rules changes are in effect:

- Ship prices will be cut in half, reflected in the stats. (Likewise, damage from battle during the last update is cut in half, so the HoG need 75 and Oblivion Bliss need 200 to repair their fleets)
- Shipyard prices have been modified to half of their previous cost
- If you have a ruined shipyard, the cost of repairing it is half of the original cost
- Capturing the hulls of destroyed ships will enable you to rebuild ships for discounted prices. There are some logical exceptions as to who can rebuild whose ships, but any hull is capturable by any player
- You can now build space fortifications; these are similar to regular fortifications, but represent starbases, shipyard defences, other orbitals and defence networks
- Eldar spacecraft have been brought into line with other race’s vessels cost-wise, but will still see a significant increase in available income due to lessened upkeep

I have adjusted your upkeeps to represent the changes in ship costs. It’s probably a good idea to double-check them. This is going to increase everyone’s income significantly.

Concerning budgets and flashpoints:

If an update is divided into flashpoints, feel free to submit full or partial budgets with your flashpoint orders instead of the final update orders. If you do so, it will make the improvements and units you purchase available for use during the flashpoint.

However, you will be unable to change any spending made in a flashpoint later on in a turn.

EDIT: Scratch that first part, the first flashpoint of update 4 is up.

Players have 72 hours from the posting of this flash point to post their orders regarding the hulk.
Was there really a hulk, or is that just a c-n-p error?

Could you clarify if the flash point covers only the war between HoG and OB, or are other things included as well (such as the Cretan affairs)? Or is a flashpoint truly generic, so that for instance we could conceivably launch a whole new invasion at one of these?

The war isn't between HoG and OB... unless OB wants to get stuck in again. It's between the TTC and the AGD. Anyone can get stuck in if they want and I imagine you can start a whole other war if you wanted to, it's moderation might be set back depending on how Fulton is feeling.

Ah yes, my bad, I meant das' Chaos faction and not TBR's. Still want answers to the questions though. :)

Thanks for catching that Niklas. I used Flashpoint 1 as a template and missed that bit, it's fixed now.

This flashpoint covers the conflict between Oblivion Bliss, the Army of the Grand Design, and the Imperial players, as well as the Cyclops' struggle for survival, so feel free to meddle in their affairs.

You could also conceivably launch a completely new invasion if you want to, and all players are welcome to weigh in on the chaos-Imperial wars if they see an advantage to be had.

A reminder that there are now 24 hours remaining to submit orders for the flashpoint. I currently have orders from:

Oblivions Bliss
The Army of the Grand Design
The Trade Consortium
The Heirs of Guilliman

Feel free to add amendments to these orders up to the deadline if you feel the need.

Ok, that's it for flashpoint orders. I'm going to the Whitsunday Islands for a few days so don't expect the flashpoint conclusion until Nov 27th.

Hey guys, I'm currently in Hong Kong Airport on an 18 hour layover. The whole trip home will take two entire days. I apologize for the continued delays.

That I think is up to Fulton. However I believe that would come down to if you've read the rules, have a reasonably good concept in mind, and have a properly made faction ready. I know that you posted something on the IC thread a while ago, but I believe there were a few issues with point allocation etc etc that made the faction not abide by the creation rules. (if I recall correctly, every planet had a class 1 shipyard or something similar, and you ended up being on the order of 3 points over your starting limit.)

It would also help if you had a working understanding behind the Warhammer World. There are a number of places you can go to research if you're not familiar, the wh40k wiki (found here: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page) is a good place to start.

I recall those posts, and they were a good start, however the trouble remains that your faction was over-budget by 15% (or more). Perhaps you would like to make the necessary changes and post a rough draft here? Furthermore some more details as to what makes your faction unique may be in order. At the very least it would show how your faction is distinct and unique.

Regrettably, I am not the moderator of this NES, so I must stress once again that what I'm saying here is merely a suggestion on how to get started. Ultimately you would have to talk to Fulton to sort out the details.
