Finished the turn, not much to do other than the change of era stuff which I think I messed up
Spoiler:
IBT mm in rostov to get hoovers in 10 that should let us get the UN
moscow tank->tank
1355 colonize fur, road and clean
1360 not much
1365 moscow tank->tank
1370 not much
1375 moscow tank->tank
1380 not much
1385 moscow tank->wealth
1390 babylon city culture expands, we lose our second source of furs
IBT ottomans gets computers, costs us 76
0gpt and 10,000
babylons get fission but won't give it up for anything
1395 we draw minituarization as our free tech from being scientific
we get rocketry as the first ToE tech
we trade rocketry and extra rubber for fission
we sell rocketry for 6000 and 100 gpt
we get space flight as our second ToE tech
UN will finish in rostov in 5
rush SETI in moscow
1400 moscow SETI->research lab
superconductors at -500+ in 9 turns
As you might see, we are massively in debt. I personally don't think gifting up was worth it. We gave a up a huge tech lead, a few thousand gold, ~700 gpt all for two lousy techs. With all the cash we gave up, we could have easily researched those two techs in the extra time it'll take to research future techs since our science is significantly less now. The money we can get back though if we decided to declare war. I think it's worth the rep hit to get back that gold since we'll be even more in debt in a few turns when a deal with the Incas expires. Again, I think I messed up more than once during the trading part which could be why we are so in debt. If anyone wants the turn before save to see if we could have done better, it's also attached.
Yeah, you did just fine, we got both the available free techs to us and got two second level techs as freebies as well. As del noted, that costs big $$, and the way to get that back is to sell a tech to both of them to get (most of) our cash back.
I sold the first level freebies we got for as much as we could get. I'm sure the Ottomans are spending some of the gpt they got from us on research so we won't be able to get all of it back.
Right I have only played start of turn
and got following deals
ncans
Esp
WM
48GPT
70 Gold for Mass P
Ottomans
Give
Gems
762GPT
and 780 Gold for Minuturization
We have a possible uranium colony under tank next to babylonian city and incans will have two sources of alumianium which we can get on trade up, the ottomans have a source close to us, but I think incan trade would be better solution (at least for next 20 turns)

And yeah, we can blow up the Bab city if required, or don't if not, and trade with the Incans. Without looking at the save, where is the Ottoman aluminum? It's not on that little peninsula of ours, is it?
sk8boardbob, you did very well, I doubt any of us could have done better. With the high cost of modern-era techs, everything you can get without researching is incredibly valuable. This should knock 10-20 turns off our launch date, easily.
One of the Ottomans Aluminium is right next to our border, would it be permissable to put a town down next to it and disband in turnset, to use Aluminium. I think their other set is traded to Babylonians.

Dwetzel, you are welcome on board and yeah I was planning on it being a strict 5CC. I guess it's okay to capture an AI city as long as we have less than 5. As long as we never hold more than 5 cities at a time, it's OK.
Yeah I would just do Synthetic Fibres next, we can then upgrade all tanks I think 1 turn before current Aluminium deal runs out, (of course we should redo deal), but it would be nice to have the ability to use Modern Armour if we cant get a new deal to secure another supply.
Done, see notes. Not much to it. No pictures, nothing's changed.
Preflight:
Yeah, everything looks OK, except that I switch all but one scientist at Yaroslavl to a civil engineer, thus getting Offshore Platform in 7 turns instead of 29. This still gets us Ecology in 5, though we'll lose 10%-20% on the research slider reduction on the last turn.
I decide to close off the gate near Yekaterineburg. Ottoman slaves are just too tempting; I want to resist temptation.
5 turns to Ecology.
Hit Enter.
Spoiler:
(1) 1455 AD: Hoover Dam was built in 1455 at a cost of approximately $33 million. SS Docking Bay next.
Pollution at Novogrod. I clean it up.
IBT: French ask us to leave. The town on our west coast popped borders. We no longer have pretty horsies. *snif*
Vikings ask us to leave too. Their town at our southeast popped borders.
(2) 1460 AD: Game crash. Reload and repeat everything (wasn't much), except I forgot the civil engineers; it made no difference in time. Probably worked out even a bit better.
IBT: Inca declared war on Babylonians.
(3) 1465 AD: Moscow SS Docking Bay -- SS Fuel Cells. Novogrod SS Cockpit - Manhattan Project (prebuild).
Two bouts of pollution.
(4) 1470 AD: Rostov SS Engine - The Internet (prebuild?).
Babs start The Internet. We should probably build it just so they don't get it.
Last turn of Ecology at 80% (70% is "right" but I never like to mess around while pollution is afoot). I do employ civil engineers everywhere.
IBT: France boots us again--where from? Hmm.
(5) 1475 AD: Ecology in, Synth Fibers in 8, until I set the scientists back at least.
Moscow SS Fuel Cells - Mass Transit Plant.
THREE bouts of pollution, grr. Swap Novogrod, Yaroslavl and Rostov to Mass Transit Plants and short-rush Novogrod, Moscow, Yaroslavl's, and Rostov's to complete next turn. Pollution sucks. Restore all scientists, it still takes 8 turns unfortunately.
(8) 1490 AD: Yekaterineburg SS Life Support --> MTP.
Synth Fibers now says 4 turns; I think we have just enough scientists to get that working properly. It's gonna be close though! CivAssist2 says we make 1069 bpt at the moment and finish in 8 with 1054 bpt waste. However, hand count says 959 bpt (from Civ 3 screen) + 39 scientists (117 bpt) = 1076 bpt. The difference is enough to get us there. Keep a close eye on pollution and be ready to merge a worker or two if needed for a couple extra geeks! It's THAT close!
IBT: That Incan knight that was mostly trapped down south has made his way around and started pillaging the Babylonian furs.
(9) 1495 AD: To drive the point home, we get two bouts of pollution, after which Civ thinks we complete Synth Fibers in 4 turns instead of 3. I clean up pollution and reassign workers, and it's in 3 again. The difference is 10 bpt.
We are briefly making 799 gpt, as the first of the two Ottoman deals ended.
Vikings want audience, I can't imagine why I'd want one.
(10) 1500 AD: We lost our supply of gems. I want gems. Ring up the Ottomans; they give gems, saltpeter, world map, and 502 gpt for Ecology. Okie-dokie.
We are making 491 gpt, since their other deal expired. Inca have about 170 gpt, I forget the exact number, if we want to sell them Ecology (I would), but I haven't done it yet.
In messing about with some things, I suddenly discover something rather shocking that I didn't think of until now: In Novogrod, Policemen are more effective than Scientists. I was surprised too. But it works with all the multipliers we have there.
There is also one policeman at Yaroslavl; this is intentional. It's a wash for research but of course improves production from a whopping 7 spt to 8 spt, in case it ever matters.
Cliff notes:
Ecology in, Synth Fibers in 2. Don't mess with the specialists. See end of turnlog for details.
Aluminum deal expires in 3 turns, either renew it or get it from the Ottomans, as they do have two sources also. Don't DOW Ottomans, as I just made a deal with them. If we need to wait 20 turns, we can, it's truly no big deal, since our research will take longer than that.
Be vigilant about pollution and putting tiles back on; we're at a very very fine line to getting Synth Fibers in 7 turns instead of 8, and Nuclear Power and The Laser are identical as far as research costs.
Feel free to build military if you feel the urge, though I doubt there's any need.
Got a question for the team. I want to fight a short war with the Vikings to take their Aluminum, rather than fight the Ottomans for theirs. The Inca have traded their extra Aluminum away, and are starting to gobble up the Vikings in a war. I'd like to join them and get what we need, then make a quick peace. What say, all?
