Mark it on the calendar? Yes.

Federal holiday? No, unless we plan to replace one that we already have.

and why would that be?

There have been other tragedies nearly equal, equal, and worse and we don't fill our "holiday" calender w/ those.

If you want a new holiday to remember the 9/11 victims as well as to demonstrate that all our American values are still strong, make Election Day a holiday.

name one. are you saying we should forget?

have we forgotten everything that doesn't have a holiday named after it?

...don't make assumptions.

Are people so shallow that they need a holiday to remember this? No. Even though most Americans can't find Iraq on a globe, they still know what Dec. 7 represents.

We have too many "holidays" as it is.

I'd rather work on 9/11 then spend all day at home thinking about it. Holidays should be about good things, not remembering victims (believe me we remember enough already).

I'm not an American but I voted no. Holidays are about celebrations, people look forward to them as JonnyB said. The terrorists tried to bring America to a stop on 9/11 and succeeded. They shouldn't bring America to a stop every year at the same time. You should work on regardless to show defiance. I think a two minute silence to remember those who lost their lives would be quite apt though.

Tell me what it is you cherish most. Give me the plesure of taking it away.
from the OP's sig.

Isn't it interesting that this is exactly what the terrorist did on 9/11?

I think we should so we will never forget the people who gave their lives for our country:goodjob:

What makes you think they gave their life to your country?

Yeah. They weren't protecting America or anything, they were collateral damage in a military terrorist strike.

I think it's a bad idea, holidays should be about good things, besides I don't think people like holidays very much anyway.

I voted no, I do not want to be constantly reminded about how "terrorists are still planning to attack us" and think about it a home bored to death a few years from now. It's been 5 years, it was a sad tragedy but sooner or later we have to move on.
