the people who stormed the cockpit and crashed the plane so it would not kill anyone else. they crashed in a field and gave their lives to spare others..... for our country
True, and certainly they're due their (along with the police and firefighters that went into a building that was on fire). I won't even point out that, given the news about the other three planes, they knew their only chance at life was to take back the cockpit, so they could have as easily been acting out of pure self-interest as out of concern for people on the ground. Oh wait, I guess I will point that out. Anyway, the "for our country" part is speculation on your part. Further, there are so many heroes amongst our military, and police, firefighters, EMTs, and other citizens on a daily basis, that I wonder why these folks deserve an honor that the others will never get.
Not all national holidays have to be celebrations. In Australia and NZ, we have a national holiday called Anzac day this basically is a day when our troops were slaughtered by the Turks. Basically it is a day to remember those lost in battle.
