Hey all,

My parents are friends with a Polish couple who have an autistic child who is about 6-7 years old. The mother, who is fluent in Polish and decently yet not fully fluent in English approached me yesterday about the logistics of starting up a blog where she can write about her experiences as the mother of an autistic child and autism in general.

Naturally I pointed her to blogspot.com and volunteered to set up a site for her, where she can write her blog in Polish and where it will be automatically translated into English (right?). It's a free solution, doesn't require much technical knowhow to maintain, and I could set up a nice looking blog for her fairly quick.

Here's the thing though, where does she advertise the existence of this blog and get readers? I've done search engine optimization before, so I can help her set up keywords and such (blogspot lets you do that, right?), but here's the thing.. She also wants to set up a donation page where readers can donate money to her. These guys moved here from Poland not too recently and are doing okay financially but having an autistic child means extra expenses. There is some sort of a thing she wants to buy for her child that is fairly expensive.. I'm not sure what that is (I can update later, if there is interest), but this basically means that she'd need a decent amount of readers on her blog for it to really make a difference.

I didn't get a decent sense from her what the main purpose of the blog is going to be - but it sounded like the donation part would be a major part of it. I also got the sense that she honestly wants to write about her experiences of having to deal with such a difficult situation. So I suppose the purpose of the blog is two-fold. And either way, she'll need readers.

I thought this would be the perfect place to ask.. do you guys know of any autism-related blogs where she might be able to write about her experiences and link to her blog? I am going to have to teach her about the spamming no-no, cause I don't think she has any idea about what that even means.

Any autism-related directories would probably help too, if such things even exist anymore.

Either way, thanks for any help anyone is able to offer.
