The birth of a Civilization
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, a group of people decided to form a community together to make better use of the plentiful land they lived in, full of Copper, Stone and Cotton. They called themselves the English and that first settlement was called London. Oh, and they had a leader, Teproc. It's unclear how he was selected, although historians would later speculate that a ritual of throwing stones at people had been established, and whoever survived would be the leader. Let's face it, these guys weren't very smart, and the throwing rocks thing didn't necessarily help.
But hey, they went ahead and sent their finest warriors explore the world, meeting other young civilizations such as the Russians, the Romans, the French, and the Mayans. Russia in particular was close, and looked like it would probably be an early rival of the young English nation. Embassies from these foreigners were nonetheless accepted, in exchange for some gold.
In that time, the English mastered the techniques of, well, Mining of course, and Pottery, which allowed them to build a shrine dedicated to these fabulous minerals around them. They really, really liked rocks, basically. They also figured that cotton ting might be useful, and by the end of Teproc's reign, they were trying to figure out a way to use that, but most were doubtful, because of how easily it could be crushed by big rocks. Oh, and they were pretty big on tradition too, as long as it involved rocks.
Every 25 years (they counted years... differently back then), they would renew the great tradition of throwing rocks at their leader and see if they survived. Teproc wasn't that old, but that kind of lifestyle can't lead to a very long a healthy life, so he tragically died. His successor, Pydgie, would maybe have the sense of eradicating such a barbaric tradtion by adopting new laws ?

So yeah, not much happened, but our start looks good. Russia is really, really close so that might be a problem, because we don't have a lot of place to expand (lots of mountain in the area). I went Tradition because of that. Hopefully we can get a pantheon, the best two would be Stone Circles (the quarry one) and Earth Mother especially (the Copper, Salt and Iron one). And we're a turn or two away from getting Legalism, hence the last line.
Having Russia so close might be good for early caravans though, that'll help a lot with science.
