What does it really matter if the update is on top of the page or not? The only thing I would worry about is if the update was split between pages. Other than that, whats the big deal?

It just means it is easier to find down the road and I suppose it has a bit of a dramatic effect. I wouldn't call it necessary but its nice.

I don't think it's such a big deal, either. But the last time I spoiled a page, I got yelled at. Now I respect it. I don't want Kentharu treating me like he is Slim Shady and other newbs (although this is not approving of Slim Shady; he's proving to be in the blame).

Hey, stop the flame wars! We don't want to hear it. Ken, you were too harsh. People make mistakes. Slim, stop fanning the flames! And do your best to pay attention to NESing ethics.

Yeah, its definitely not something to start a flame war over.

WORLD WARS. Prague, Bohemia. A French declaration of war upon the European Alliance of Nations has sparked the expansion of the war in North America into a united set of World Wars. Every continent except for New Holland have now become theater of conflict of the most brutal kind. New weapons and tactics have been brought to bear by the various belligerents in the growing World Wars, including strategic bombing of civilian urban centers and the use of poisonous gases. The rising amount of civilian casualties has marked this easily as a new type of war. Estimates believe that casualties (surrendered, wounded, killed) as a result of the war may have already passed the ten million mark after only three years of total war. This war has passed the devastation of the Chinese Civil War. The scale of the conflict has forced the division of the war into separate special sections as marked below. The war has been divided into continents, much as other news has.

MORMONS RISE IN DESERET. Bringhamton, Deseret. A popular uprising among the Mormon population of Deseret has bourn fruit this year with the overthrow of the military government in favor of a new theocracy. The late Joseph Salt’s son has been placed as both head of Church and state in Deseret, with the final defeat of the government’s forces by the end of the year. Casualties proved large throughout the fighting, and refugees from Deseret’s borders swarmed over the already besieged realms of Texas and the United Collectives of North America. The new theocracy has pledged to rebuild Deseret’s power as a North American state and to bring a new era of glory to the Mormon Church. NEW JERSEY REBORN. Trenton, New Jersey. The Francophone Republic of New Jersey has been reborn with the overthrow of the Pennsylvanian garrison. The dramatic defeat of the garrison was soon followed by the defeat of the Pennsylvanian navy, caught in port, desperately using sailors to fight a land battle against the New Jerseyite horde. Most of the ships were scuttled, or destroyed in fighting, but some were captured by New Jersey, most then being scrapped to use the guns as immobile coastal or ground fortifications. The New Jersey government has appealed to the international community to recognize its independence as a fresh new regime in North America.

ALGONQUIN ELECTIONS. Fox Falls, Algonquin Nation. Needless for many to say, this year’s elections were dominated by the World Wars, as the country serves as the front line for combat between Allied and Socialist forces. The rise of the Socialist Party, which has called for peace at any cost with the United Collectives, and the restoration of the nation’s neutrality, has split the reigning Liberal Party. This has made the task of the Conservative Party, which has called for total war and defeat of the United Collectives, much easier. Despite the advantages possessed by their opponents, the Liberal Party has once more won elections to be put in charge of their nation. They have promised to maintain Algonquin independence, though not at the cost of the nation’s dignity or self-destruction. (+1 Stability)

NEW FRANCE ELECTIONS. New Caen, Republic of New France. The National Party of New France has suffered a major setback this year, with the elections proving heavily decisive. The lack of activity by the National Party in the ongoing war between the International Socialist Cooperative Group and its enemies has alienated the party from its conservative base, splitting their vote in the elections. The National Party became increasingly radical, calling for intervention on behalf of the Allied cause. The concern over the destruction which would be inflicted upon New France has discouraged much of the support for this cause, leading to a victory of the Social Democratic Party. This is their first victory since the abortive socialist uprising during the civil war. The National Party has called this collaboration with the natural enemy of free nations, and the nation continues to become more and more divided. (-1 Stability)

VIRGINIAN ELECTIONS. Richmond, Virginian Empire. A surprise turnout came in elections this year as the population unites in a turnout against the threat of the International Socialist Cooperative Group. The Unity Party has brought together both liberals and conservatives in a common cause to preserve the Virginian Empire. The elections were overwhelmingly in support of the Unity Party, as the people feel a need for a strong new force in the wake of the recent crises with Georgia and Carolina. The Unity Party has pledged that not only will Virginia survive the conflict but will emerge stronger than ever from victory. (+3 Stability)

SPECIAL: World Wars in North America

GEORGIAN FRONT. Atlanta, Georgia. The forces of the Co-Axial Pact in Georgia have successfully driven back the socialist forces towards the Mississippi River. The year began with a continuing communist push against Chinese and Georgian forces throughout the region, even pushing into the outskirts of the city of Atlanta. The tide was turned with an influx of fresh recruits and military equipment. Facing the full brunt of Co-Axial military technology, including new tanks and poisonous gases, the socialist armies reeled back. Only the massive air superiority of the socialist armies and the gift of gas mask designs from sympathizers in Georgia and the ensuing mass production, led to the Georgian advance being halted just short of several key Mississippi River bridges. Allied and Axis attempts to destroy the bridges met with failure as socialist forces managed to repulse several attacks from behind the lines. The onset of winter has reduced the effectiveness of gas attacks and a stalemate has begun as both sides dig into set positions. Civilian casualties have also been heavy with the deployment of gas on the front, and unexpected consequences have led to the occasional fall of gas onto civilians across Georgia. In the skies, the socialists have easily continued to sweep the air clear of Georgian bombers, maintaining their supremacy. They have inflicted a heavy toll upon Georgian armor using their new close air support, studying on tactics displayed by New England and Virginia in other theaters.
Casualty List
United Collectives of North America: 110 Infantry Brigades, 20 Mountain Brigades, 6 Cavalry Brigades, 2 Artillery Brigades, 2 Anti-Tank Brigades, 13 Tomahawk Brigades, 2 PA-1 Squadrons
Georgia: 184 Infantry Brigades, 25 Artillery Brigade, 6 Hotchkiss Brigades, 32 A-35 Brigades, 5 Anti-Tank Brigades, 8 Anti-Air Brigades, 11 G-35 Squadrons, 30 Manpower
Republic of China: 5 Infantry Brigades

TENNESSEE FRONT. Nashville, Tennessee. As on other fronts in North America, Tennessean and Georgian forces have deployed gas warfare against United Collective troops in Tennessee. The socialist forces managed to advance very slowly through hostile territory against entrenched forces, which grew in strength throughout the year. Though the Tennesseans have not yet retaken any lost territory, they have inflicted terrible losses upon the Collectives, in their advance. In the skies, the socialist forces continue to remain supreme, much as in Georgia. Their forces have devastated Tennessean support positions and armor, only failing to unearth the dug in infantry and foot soldiers in their bunkers and trenches. With Allied successes in northern Louisiana, the socialist armies were forced to abandon their positions in Tennessee, and regroup with the larger army facing the Virginians, making the sacrifices nearly in vain
Casualty List
United Collectives of North America: 60 Infantry Brigades, 1 Artillery Brigade, 2 Tomahawk Brigades, 1 PA-1 Squadron
Tennessee: 22 Infantry Brigades, 6 Artillery Brigades, 11 Anti-Tank Brigades, 4 A-35 Brigades, 2 Anti-Air Brigades, 2 Monitors, 21 G-35 Squadrons

NORTHERN LOUISIANA FRONT. Saint Louis, Empire of Louisiana. Allied forces have begun a major new offensive against the forces of the United Collectives, launching an attack upon socialist positions in northern Louisiana. Though the Missouri River proved a tough obstacle to attackers, the use of poison gas against socialist positions proved to be enough to gain a decisive edge. The forces, spearheaded by the Virginian armies, smashed through socialist lines. Supported by forces from Sweden and Chicago, the Virginian army successfully and strategically forced the UCNA’s armies to evacuate Tennessee. Fighting was heavy throughout the whole region, but an influx of socialist reinforcements led to the socialists seizing airpower and halting the advance. Socialist counterattacks took place later in the year, but have been blunted. The onset of winter and socialist deployment of gas masks en masse has led to a stalemate with neither side gaining an edge. Civilian casualties have been incredibly high as Virginian forces deploy poison gases and Louisianan dead has numbered in the hundreds of thousands. Overall in the skies, the competition is heavily disputed between both sides, as the Virginians begin fielding Russian designed aircraft in large numbers.
Casualty List
United Collectives of North America: 114 Infantry Brigades, 8 Marine Brigades, 7 Artillery Brigades, 9 Tomahawk Brigades, 7 PA-1 Squadrons, 3 AFB-01 Squadrons
Virginian Empire: 66 Infantry Brigades, 2 Artillery Brigades, 8 Murphy Brigades, 5 Faustin Brigades, 3 Oliver Mk2 Squadrons, 1 AS-124 Squadron
Empire of Louisiana: 68 Manpower
Swedish Empire: 15 Infantry Brigades
Pennsylvania: 40 Infantry Brigades
Free City of Chicago: 2 Infantry Brigades

SOUTHERN LOUISIANA FRONT. New Orleans, Empire of Louisiana. The Battle for Baton Rouge continued during the early part of the year as socialist forces continued attempting to break through Allied lines. The Louisianan military managed to maintain their hold on the southern part of the city, repulsing assault after assault and turning every block of the city into a fresh fortress. They were relieved by the arrival of forces from a variety of Allied nations, including Cuba, New England, and the Netherlands. The reinforcements allowed the Allies to launch a new offensive against the socialists. The advance has proven successful, and the socialist armies were forced out of Baton Rouge by the Allies. With overwhelming Cuban air forces breaking the stalemate in the skies, the socialists were forced to pull their planes to the north to provide cover for the growing crisis in northern Louisiana.
Casualty List
United Collectives of North America: 77 Infantry Brigades, 6 Artillery Brigades, 1 Anti-Air Brigade, 5 Tomahawk Brigades, 7 PA-1 Squadrons, 6 AFB-01 Squadrons, 1 SUDB-01 Squadron
Empire of Louisiana: 62 Infantry Brigades, 2 Jaguar Squadrons
Republic of the Netherlands: 8 Infantry Brigades
Cuba: 3 Infantry Brigades, 7 Oliver Mk2 Squadrons
Republic of New England: 12 Infantry Brigades, 10 Jungle Brigades

LAKOTA FRONT. Fox Falls, Algonquin Nation. Stalemate began the year along the Algonquin and Lakota front, as neither Allied nor socialist forces chose to launch an offensive. This changed late in the year as the local Allied commander saw the successes on other fronts and chose to make a mark of his own. Using overwhelming numbers and superior firepower, the Allies launched a gas barrage and offensive. The socialist forces were decisively defeated by the Allies, who pressed forward quickly across the plains. Spearheaded by New Englander and Virginian forces, the Allies encircled and destroyed a large number of socialist divisions. By the end of the year, the forces were pushing quickly upon the former Lakota capitol. In the skies, the socialist planes have been swept out of the air, as Allied forces kept up their quick advance.
Casualty List
United Collectives of North America: 167 Infantry Brigades,
Socialist Union of South America: 20 Infantry Brigades
Republic of New England: 42 Infantry Brigades, 3 Artillery Brigades, 4 Faustin Brigades, 4 Oliver Mk2 Squadrons, 3 Osprey Squadrons
Virginian Empire: 34 Infantry Brigades, 4 Anti-Tank Brigades, 2 Murphy Brigades, 4 Taylor Brigades, 2 AS-124 Squadrons
Algonquin Nation: 60 Infantry Brigades
Cuba: 4 Infantry Brigades, 2 Oliver Mk2 Squadrons

METIS FRONT. Winnipeg, occupied Metis Syndicate. Virginian and New Englander forces have made some significant advances against the Metis this year. Gas has been deployed against villages and encampments, devastating Metis lines. More territory has fallen under the occupiers’ control as the Metis people fail to hold their lines against the technical superiority and gas based warfare of the Allies. Without any form of official protection against the gas, the Metis armies have been devastated and forced into hiding. Only winter has allowed scattered remnants of the army to hide in the northernmost reaches of the country. The government maintains little to no control over an organized front and front lines have dissolved in the wake of the most recent push. The Virginians have successfully taken control of the Metis High Seas Fleet, capturing the port before it could be scuttled. Metis ships on Lake Winnipeg were sunk by New Englander planes during a failed sortie against Virginian lines.
Casualty List
Metis Syndicate: 12 Infantry Brigades, 9 Artillery Brigades, 3 Monitors, 5 Manpower
Virginian Empire: 2 Infantry Brigades
Republic of New England: 1 Osprey Squadron

CANADIAN FRONT. Sudbury, occupied Canada. With the collapse of the Metis Syndicate, the People’s Republic of Canada has struggled to maintain some sort of front against the Allied advance. Unfortunately the overwhelming strength of the Allies has proven too much for the communist forces. Like the Metis, the Canadian forces were devastated by the use of poison gas and enormous numbers. The Canadian communist regime collapsed under the pressure and the only remaining forces have fled into the countryside, scattered and without organization. The war against communism in the north seems to be over, but in the wake of victory, new foes begin to emerge.
Casualty List
People’s Republic of Canada: 67 Infantry Brigades, 15 Artillery Brigades, 1 Anti-Air Brigade, 2 Anti-Tank Brigades, 15 Faustin Brigades, 1 Oliver Mk1 Squadron
Pennsylvania: 14 Infantry Brigades
Republic of New England: 8 Infantry Brigades
Canada: 5 Infantry Brigades
Quebec: 8 Infantry Brigades

GEORGIAN BLOCKADE. Savannah, Georgia. In response to the Georgian betrayal last year, the government of New England has denounced the attack upon Louisiana as well as plotting to destroy the United Nation States of America. A large New Englander fleet has been deployed to prevent naval traffic with Georgia, refusing to allow evacuation of civilians from Savannah. Two Russian merchant ships were sunk by the blockade, forcing them to turn back a convoy to Russia. In response, hoping to allow the escape of the Georgian government apparatus as well as to get civilians out of focus of communist fire, French and Georgian naval forces were deployed to break the blockade. Faced with overwhelming firepower however, both forces neglected to confront the New Englanders and turned back to their home ports, particularly with the outbreak of war in Europe being considered more important for the French admiralty.

A NEW WAR? Quebec City, Quebec. With the defeat of the People’s Republic of Canada, it seems that rivalries between the two remaining Canadian factions has erupted into a new conflict. Fighting has been reported upon the Canadian and Quebecois border, as the Canadian government refuses to recognize the independence of Quebec. Several minor offensives have been launched by both sides as they struggle to gain dominance. Moderate casualties have been inflict upon both sides, but fortunately gas has not yet made its presence felt in this new war. The Canadian government has demanded that the Allies no longer recognize the illegal Quebecois government as it moves in a new bid for power.
Casualty List
Quebec: 9 Infantry Brigades
Canada: 11 Infantry Brigades

BEHIND THE LINES. Dallas, occupied Texan Republic. Partisan activity behind socialist lines in the Texan Republic continues to grow as the Texan people reject the Collectives’ authority over the region. Guerilla activity has grown extensively with the alleged formation of the United Texan Resistance, a possible organization which has assembled the largest attacks against Mexican forces. Supplies have been caught from Sweden and New England attempting to supply the partisans, and security continues to tighten throughout the occupied area. The United Collectives has vowed to maintain its control and to prevent unneeded acts of violence “due to unruly revisionist rabble.”
Casualty List
United Collectives of North America: 7 Infantry Brigades
Texan Republic: 4 Manpower

Central/South American News Report

URUGUAY INDEPENDENT. Montevideo, Uruguayan Collective. Under pressure from the International Socialist Cooperative Group, the Socialist Union of South America was forced to cede the independence of the Uruguayan Collective. SUSA has refused to extend official recognition however, as the new government rejects accepting the Uruguayans as a legitimate nation. The Uruguayans have denounced SUSA’s “reluctance to accept the present and future of socialism” as being a resemblance of nationalist conservatism. The Uruguayan Collective has also stated that the recent attacks on Venezuela and Colombia are further signs that the leaders in Rio de Janeiro care nothing but their own personal power.

REGIME CHANGE IN SUSA. Rio de Janeiro, Socialist Union of South America. The ailing leader of the Socialist Union of South America, Jose Batlle y Ordonez, has resigned his authority of the Socialist Party in the Union and appointed a successor. The new leader, Luis Carlos Prestes, a long-time member of the Brazilian Communist Party has pledged a radical new era for the Socialist Union. This has been marked with the onset of war with Colombia and Venezuela, as well as some limited intervention in the fighting in Argentina. Furthermore Prestes has denounced the secession of the Uruguayan Collective, stating that the cause of socialism needs to be united in a single front against the Allies and the Co-Axial Pact. He has pledged to fight against secessionism within the Sociallist Union and to bring about “global revolution in our time.” (-1 Stability)

HAITIAN CIVIL WAR ESCALATES. Port-au-Prince, Empire of Haiti. To the dismay of the imperial government, the Haitian Civil War has invited outside intervention. The Cuban government has declared that “the anarchy in our sister Caribbean island is unacceptable and we will do whatever is needed to maintain order.” The Cubans have occupied the Haitian West Indies, but met with hostile opposition. The Cuban navy met in battle with a small Haitian taskforce which refused to recognize a Cuban presence upon the Haitian empire. The Cubans utterly annihilated the Haitian fleet, and proceeded to occupy the islands one at a time. The government of Cuba has announced the intention to establish a new regime in the region, and to begin work on a unified Caribbean nation led from Havana. Fighting on Haiti proper continued without cease as the various factions clashed in brutal conflict. The heaviest fighting took place in Port-au-Prince as the imperial and communist forces continued to fight over the nation’s capitol. The tide in theater turned when Cuban forces landed with overwhelming force behind the communist lines. The imperials used the chance to establish control over the city. The Cuban government has established a zone of control, but has not entered into conflict against the imperial forces. They have declared that the Emperor Faustin III is the legitimate head of the Haitian nation, but new negotiations must begin to “establish Haiti’s place in the new order of the Caribbean Sea.” Limited fighting took place against the Taino Republic and the Grand Kingdom, but Cuban forces have successfully wiped out the former communist planes and air bases on the eastern part of the island through persistent air assault.
Casualty List
Empire of Haiti: 3 Infantry Brigades, 2 Faustin Brigades, 5 MR Submarines, 5 Destroyers, 2 Heavy Cruisers, 3 Oliver Mk2 Squadrons
Cuba: 5 Infantry Brigades, 2 Destroyers, 1 Light Cruiser, 1 Heavy Cruiser
Grand Kingdom of Hispaniola: 3 Oliver Mk2 Squadrons, 3 PA-1 Squadrons, 4 AFB-01 Squadrons, 1 Zeppelin Bomber Squadron
Taino Republic: 1 Infantry Brigade
People’s Republic of Haiti: 17 Infantry Brigades, 2 Marine Brigades, 3 Anti-Tank Brigades, 2 Oliver Mk2 Squadrons (Destroyed)

SPECIAL: World Wars in Central/South America

FIGHTING IN NICARAGUA. Managua, Virginian Empire. The socialist forces in Central America have suffered a major setback this year as a united Allied army decisively defeats Nicaraguan and UCNA militaries. The Virginian Royal Colonial Army has smashed Nicaraguan and Collective forces in the south, retaking the city of Managua. New Englander forces struck another quick blow, using marines and other forces to retake control of the western part of the Nicaraguan Canal. Unfortunately the canal was badly damaged in the fighting, rendering it quite unusable. The forces of New England and Virginia then continued their offensive to secure the Virginian colony, throwing the Nicaraguans back into a tiny corner of the northwestern part of the region. Allied forces retain easy control of the skies, and a communist attempt to raid the Panama Canal met with miserable failure. The use of gas against partisan villages and Nicaraguan positions is also attributed as one of the chief causes of the growing Allied victory in the area.
Casualty List
Union of Nicaragua: 27 Infantry Brigades
United Collectives of North America: 30 Infantry Brigades, 2 PA-1 Squadrons, 1 AFB-01 Squadrons
Virginian Empire: 17 Infantry Brigades, 2 Jaguar Squadrons
Republic of New England: 6 Infantry Brigades, 3 Marine Brigades

PERU LAUNCHES OFFENSIVE. Lima, Peru. To the surprise of many, who thought that the nations of South America may sit out the growing World Wars, the nation of Peru launch a major attack against Chile. Citing the mistreatment and aggression towards the Bolivian and Paraguayan people, the Peruvian government surprised Chilean forces, as both the SUSA and Argentine troops which had been helping defend the north withdrew to settle their own affairs. SUSA involvement soon became limited only to a few minor skirmishes along the northern borders, where dense jungle and mountains prohibited any large scale engagements. Most of the Chilean air force was destroyed on the ground as Peru deployed dive bombers and modern tank tactics against the Chilean army. The Peruvians have made great strides south, pledging to end the illegitimate socialist occupation of Bolivia.
Casualty List
Socialist Union of South America: 4 Infantry Brigades
Chile: 44 Infantry Brigades, 18 Artillery Brigades, 14 PA-1 Squadrons
Peru: 37 Infantry Brigades, 4 Oliver Mk2 Squadrons, 2 Osprey Squadrons

VENEZUELA FRONT OPENS. Caracas, Venezuela. Accusing the Venezuelan government of launching an attack into the Socialist Union of South America across their northern border, SUSA launched a major offensive against both Venezuela and Colombia. The SUSA forces in Venezuela have been met by determined, near fanatical resistance. Despite superiority in the air, they have failed to move the Venezuelans from fortified positions and prepared combat emplacements. The Venezuelans have successfully used the dense foliage of the region to mask their troop movements and logistics from the air, and have managed several advances against SUSA, encircling and destroying several enemy divisions. The fighting has more or less stalemated, though a late Venezuelan offensive has successfully secured control of the northernmost city of Georgetown with heavy naval gun support.
Casualty List
Socialist Union of South America: 54 Infantry Brigades, 3 Artillery Brigades, 4 Cavalry Brigades, 1 PA-1 Squadron
Venezuela: 64 Infantry Brigades, 2 Cavalry Brigades, 8 Artillery Brigades, 1 Anti-Air Brigade, 1 Destroyer, 1 Light Cruiser

COLOMBIAN FRONT. Bogotá, Colombia. With the fighting starting along the Venezuelan border, the Socialist Union of South America has declared that an attack by one of these northern nations is an attack by both. The Socialist Union’s forces have launched a massive invasion of Colombia, to be met with massive casualties. Some of the largest and best stocked fortifications in the Western Hemisphere awaited the socialist armies as they moved into Colombia. The strain of the long logistic lines and the lack of any good airfields has further hindered the advance. Needing everything to be brought up by foot on dirt roads has strained supply delivery, while the Colombians receive everything quickly and by train straight to their prepared defenses. Though the socialists attempted to bomb the fortifications into submission the sense tree line prevented success.
Casualty List
Socialist Union of South America: 62 Infantry Brigades
Colombia: 11 Infantry Brigades

European News Report

STRIKES RILE BULGARIA. Sofia, Bulgaria. Several illegal unions led mass strikes in the nation of Bulgaria this year, against the growing tide of conservatism leading the Bulgarian monarchy. The disbanding of the Duma and the restoration of absolute monarchy in Bulgaria has proven to be highly controversial and destabilizing for this Balkan state. The military has been called out to restore order to areas affected by the strike, declaring martial law throughout half the nation. The government has refused to negotiate with strikers, and violence has been deployed in breaking strike lines. Civilian casualties have been high in the fighting, and Russian politicians have denounced the actions by their protectorate in their restoration of order to their nation. (-1 Infantry Brigade, -3 Manpower)

GREECE ELECTIONS. Athens, Greece. The outbreak of war in Europe has proven to be the dominant issue in Greek elections, as the populace accuses the Liberal Party of being asleep on the job. The failure to anticipate the Italian attacks throughout the Mediterranean have proven to the Greek people that the Liberals are incapable of maintaining the nation’s security. The invasion of Greek proper further reinforced this notion, as the country voted for militarist security in the face of war. The Conservative Party has won the elections in a landslide, promising that Greece will never be taken advantage of again, and welcoming the war. They have vowed that this war will be the dawn of a new imperial Greece, as it rises to its rightful place in the Mediterranean Sea. (+1 Stability)

ITALIAN ELECTIONS. Rome, Republic of Italy. The Republic of Italy’s wave of successes in the Mediterranean Sea have shown the people a new era of Italian strength and unity. Vowing to build a new Roman Empire and establish a new era in southern Europe, the Repubblicani Leali are viewed as great heroes for the republic. The nation rises to the challenge of a new major war in Europe. Despite some failures in Greece and the bogging down of the offensive near Corinth, the Italian people have rallied in massive demonstrations in support of the war. The nation’s mobilization have rallied masses of volunteers for service as the war continues to expand across the world.

SWEDISH ELECTIONS. Stockholm, Swedish Empire. The outbreak of war within Europe has been the dominant source of tension and conflict among the parties of Sweden. The Conservative Party blamed the blindsiding attack by the French to be the cause of division sparked by the Liberals. The claims of this has alienated the Liberals from the nation’s voters and the outrage over the attacks upon civilians within the European Alliance of Nations by the Co-Axial Pact have encouraged more support to the Conservative Party. The Conservatives have pledged an united front against the French military forces, agreeing to send forces into Europe to help hold the continent against the forces of Lisism. (+2 Stability)

SPECIAL: World Wars in Europe

THE GREAT RAID. London, England. After continuing denunciations of the European Alliance of Nations and their collaboration with socialists and oppression of the people of Europe, the Co-Axial Pact found themselves at war. This war began with the deployment of almost a thousand zeppelins against the cities of the EAN. London, Munich, Cologne, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Budapest were the key cities hit by Portuguese and French zeppelin bombers and dreadnoughts. The attacks were unexpected by the populace and devastating high explosive and gas attacks, inflicting incredibly heavy civilian casualties, both killed and wounded. Industrial and civil centers of the cities were the most heavily hit. The raids continued throughout the year, though never again during the day or in such numbers, a sign of a new era of strategic warfare on not just the battlefield, but the home front as well.

Portugal: 3 Zeppelin Bomber Squadrons, 2 Zeppelin Dreadnoughts
France: 1 Zeppelin Dreadnought

FALL OF AMSTERDAM. Amsterdam, occupied Republic of the Netherlands. The first major ground actions of the war came along the French and German borders in Western Europe. A massive French army launched an offensive against the Dutch, who were overwhelmed when over half the army had been sent overseas to fight communism. The French successfully destroyed the border fortifications using the terrifying new dive bomber which emits a scream when it dives and inflicting fear among those who are unfortunate enough to be below it. Pre-war plans by the Dutch to destroy the levees to halt the advance were stopped by the French, who overwhelmed key positions before anything could be done. Amsterdam itself successfully held out for a little less than a month as ships returned to evacuate civilians and government personnel to New Holland. French bombers interfered with the effort greatly, sending several English and Dutch ships to the bottom of the Channel. Further south, the war went more slowly with a pitched battle for the city of Metz. German forces successfully slowed the advance until the arrival of Danish and Swedish reinforcements, during the battle into one of attrition. Ultimately the French captured the city, but have been halted upon the Rhine by the Allied armies. In the skies, the arrival of massive amount of Swedish planes late in the year brought back some competition to control of the air. Despite this, veteran Portuguese and French pilots tore apart the Swedish Air Force, devastating the bomber wings and fighters much as it had to the German and Dutch air wings. Ultimately, regardless of determined Allied resistance, many positions have had to be abandoned for a shrinking pocket in western Germany and the Netherlands. French artillery now bounds the last holdout of the Allied forces on the continent.
Casualty List
France: 122 Infantry Brigades, 1 Artillery Brigade, 4 Hotchkiss Brigades, 1 A-35 Brigade, 1 Anti Air Brigade, 2 PPDA-38 Squadrons, 2 BP38 Squadrons

Danish Empire: 3 Infantry Brigades
Swedish Empire: 8 Infantry Brigades

INVASION OF HUNGARY. Budapest, occupied Hungary. The nation of Hungary proved to be the second act of the war in Europe, as French and Italian forces smashed the nation’s military into splinters. Considered before the war to be one of the stronger forces within the European Alliance of Nations, this notion has been proven hollow by the Co-Axial Pact’s victory. Though the Hungarians possessed a force almost two million men in size, they lacked any air cover or support for a modern war. Hungarian support formations were easily torn to shreds by French planes, and then massive movements of tanks and mechanized infantry forces left many surrounded to whither on the vine. In this manner the French pushed across western Hungary, leaving the Italians to clean up the pockets. Budapest fell to the advance, but was the scene of the heaviest fighting, as the Hungarians used the urban terrain to nullify French superiority in armor and air force. By the end of the year, the French advance has come to a halt in Budapest at the Danube, as their forces turned west to help finish off the offensive in Germany.
Casualty List
France: 20 Infantry Brigades, 4 A-35 Brigades, 1 PPDA-38 Squadrons
Republic of Italy: 44 Infantry Brigades, 3 Artillery Brigades, 4 Armored Car Brigades

GUERRE DE FOUDRE. Copenhagen, Danish Empire. Across the world it seems that the French military machine is nigh unstoppable. Nation after nation has fallen to the advance of the French army, beginning with the German Republic. The attacks in both the Netherlands and Hungary proved to be only the appetizer for the main course of the French offensives for the year. The so-called “war of lightning” began with French special forces brigades seizing a number of passes through the Alps along the Italian and German border. Then, as French troops poured through Hungary, a massive mechanized force came across the supposedly “untankable” Alps. Less than a week later, Munich was surrounded and besieged by French artillery and planes. Left behind the advance, Munich soon surrendered along with its garrison, which was most of the German army in the south. The French forces then easily smashed north, encircling a number of Swedish and German divisions in southwestern Germany. Offered a deal by the French government, a number of military officers and ranking leaders have seceded from the German Republic and reestablished the Kingdom of Prussia. Meanwhile, the remnants of the Swedish and Danish armies were swept up into Denmark proper, where they organized several last ditch defenses against the French. The so-called miracle at Skagen took place when the combined navies of the European Alliance of Nations helped evacuate almost four hundred thousand Allied soldiers from Denmark while the French pushed forward, though much heavy equipment had to be left behind. Obviously in the skies the French air force dominated all opposition. This came to a halt over Denmark when overwhelming numbers of Swedish planes helped tip the scales in the other direction, particularly with the need to maintain air cover over the Channel as well. Brutal air combat has taken place over Copenhagen, which has become a focus for everything from bombers to the longest range coast artillery pieces.

THE ISLAND WAR. Palermo, Republic of Italy. The French proved to be not the only Co-Axial Pact nation in Europe to be capable of launching a prolonged offensive. As a prelude to their invasion of Greece, the Italian Army and Navy launched a series of campaigns to establish control over the various islands of the Mediterranean Sea. The Danish garrison at Malta was the first to fall, being easily overwhelmed by Italian naval and air support from Sicily. They surrounded as soon as it became apparent that no relief was coming. Crete was the next target and proved to be a harder foe to overcome. As a bit of a prelude to the devastation which would take place later in the year in Greece proper, the Italian forces fought a hard campaign against much smaller forces. Several other Greek islands were overrun as well, as the smaller garrison chose not to fight after the Greek navy was utterly destroyed by Italian ships and planes. The capture of the islands did serve a vital purpose in making the Greeks believe that invasion would come from the east, rather than the west, where it did materialize.
Casualty List
Republic of Italy: 1 Marine Brigade, 12 Infantry Brigades, 1 Destroyer, 2 Light Cruisers, 1 Heavy Cruiser, 1 Battlecruiser
Danish Empire: 1 Infantry Brigade
Greece: 9 Infantry Brigades, 8 Destroyers, 5 Light Cruisers, 2 Heavy Cruisers, 1 Dreadnought

INVASION OF GREECE. Athens, Greece. To follow up upon their successes at Crete and Malta, the Italian army launched a full scale invasion of western Greece. This caught the Greeks by surprise strategically, as they had expected an assault closer to Athens. Despite the initial surprise, the Greeks responded well towards the invasion and soon were able to contain and push back the advance. The Italians now struggle on a beachhead, under constant artillery fire, unable to advance into strong Greek positions to the east.

The Conservative Party government in Liberia launched a surprise purge of the Liberal Party this year, arresting leaders of the opposition party en masse and shutting down institutions managed by them. The Conservative Party has been proclaimed the sole controlling party of Liberia, as they state that the unfortunate climate of global affairs has led to a need for tightening of national security. The government has declared that a single unified front must be created for the nation or it could face invasion like neighboring Nova Brazil from a larger imperialist power. KURD-PERSIAN WAR CONTINUES. Tehran, Persia. Fighting has continued on a limited scale between the armies of Kurdistan and Persia as both sides have failed to come to any sort of compromise over the disputed regions. The Russian government have appealed to both sides to come to the negotiating table once again, hoping to establish a new peace in the region. The Kurds launched an offensive this year towards Tehran, hoping to capture the Persian government and force a peace upon them, whether they liked it or not. They underestimated the strength and resolve of the Persian people, who successfully repulsed the advance and even retook some territory lost at the start of the war. The Kurdish government has continued to demand the handing over of the territory, but the enemy successes on the field may now have weakened their negotiating position on the matter.

OVAMBIA ON THE MARCH. Leesburg, Ovambia. Some of the heaviest fighting in Africa took place in the Swedish colony of Gustava. Joining the Co-Axial Pact in the war against the European Alliance of Nations, the country of Ovambia launched an invasion of the Swedish Empire. The superior Ovambian forces, hardened by their Virginian military tradition and their vast experience in battle against the armies of Haiti, easily beat the local Swedish forces. Sweden’s colonial army was overwhelmed tactically on the field, finding themselves outflanked time and again, losing ground quickly. As the navy became busy evacuating troops from Denmark, the local army was forced to surrender to the Ovambian nation. Ovambia has declared Gustava to be the newest province of Ovambia and a step in assuring the white man’s continued dominance over the African continent. In the skies, the Swedes remained dominant until they were finally forced to surrender, despite vast numerical inferiority. The Swedish bombers inflicted a heavy toll upon Ovambian support units through the course of the campaign.

INVASION OF NOVA BRAZIL. Porto-Pedro, Nova Brazil. In accordance with prewar plans, immediately after fighting began in the lower Netherlands, Danish troops in Africa launched an offensive against the associated Co-Axial Pact nation of Nova Brazil. Beleaguered from their recent war against the Empire of Haiti, Nova Brazil prepared itself once again to fight for its existence. Fortunately the fight did not take long, Danish troops were unprepared for the campaign and the numbers it would take to defeat the Brazilians. Combined with the French offensives elsewhere around Nijeria, the Danes soon determined that they had more pressing concerns elsewhere and withdrew. Though encouraged by the Co-Axial Pact to capitalize upon their victory, the Brazilians have remained within their borders even as their Danish neighbors reel after defeat after defeat.
Casualty List
Nova Brazil: 11 Infantry Brigades, 2 Cavalry Brigades
Danish Empire: 4 Infantry Brigades, 4 Cavalry Brigades

NIJERIAN FRONT. Christiansburg, Danish Empire. The French and Danes clashed in Nijeria, as a small French army, but still greatly outnumbering their counterparts, attacked while Denmark was embroiled in fighting in Nova Brazil. Danish forces were badly beaten, and the French army soon gained control of everything east of the Niger River. Further advances were not made, as the nature of the river prevented easy crossings for the underequipped French troops. The remaining members of the Danish colonial garrison still struggle to maintain their positions as unrest begins to grow in the free areas of the colony.
Casualty List
France: 4 Infantry Brigades, 1 Cavalry Brigade
Danish Empire: 12 Infantry Brigades, 6 Cavalry Brigades, 1 Panzer II Brigade

SOUTH AFRICAN FRONT. Zimbawbwe, France. The Danish colony of Zambi was overrun this year with French victories in the southern part of the continent. Running low on supplies and outnumbered by local French forces, which had been massed during last year’s Zulu rebellion, the Danes were forced to surrender control of the colony in the wake of the French offensive. Though they did their best to hold it, local commanders were well aware of French superiority. The deployment of one of the new French dive bomber squadrons to the region sealed the colony’s fate as it was soon brought into the French Empire.

BALUCHESTAN ELECTIONS. Zahedan, Baluchestan. The elections in Baluchestan were dominated by domestic issues this year as the Liberal Party called for labor reform and development within the nation. A series of strikes helped further their cause as industries and infrastructure shut down as unions called for new labor relations and higher pay. The Baluch people rallied together, and the Conservative Party seemed impotent in the rising tide of liberalism. The Liberal Party won in a highly debated election, and riots broke out as a result. The conservatives have accused the new leaders of the state of rigging the elections and the nation is unsure of the results of the ongoing crisis. (-6 Stability)

AMSTERDAM REPEALS HOMESTEAD ACT. Sydney, Republic of the Netherlands. The Dutch government has acted in response to the Boer anger against the influx of immigrants to New Holland. The Homestead Act, paying for the resettlement of European and North American migrants to the colony of New Holland, has been repealed by the Dutch Congress. The immigrants already en route to the colony have been rerouted to New Zeeland instead, which has rather welcomed the new white influx to balance out the local native population. The outbreak of war in Europe and the occupation of the Netherlands may bring about a change in policy however, as the Dutch government moves operations to prepared quarters in Sydney to continue the fight against the Co-Axial Pact. As refugees continue to flood in from overseas, the Boers may be forced to stop their protests for the greater good of the Dutch Republic. (+6 Stability in New Holland, +1 Manpower per turn in New Zeeland)

WAR IN SINKIANG. Urumqi, Sinkiang. Documents unearthed by Russian intelligence have sparked a war in Central Asia, as the nation of Sinkiang has been linked to sabotage within both the Russian Federation and the Republic of China. Reconstruction efforts have been damaged by the Sinkiang operatives, and even the rogue radio broadcasts in Guangzhou have been linked to the government. In response, Russian and Chinese military forces have been deployed against Sinkiang, in a major offensive. The Russian military provided massive airborne support against the Sinkiang government, bombing enemy fortifications and military positions with heavy and unprecedented firepower. The Chinese government followed the Russian bombardment with a massive ground offensive. Despite the heavy firepower arrayed against them, the forces of the warlord of Sinkiang continue to hold their own on the field, as the Chinese troops continue to advance. Bloodshed continues to escalate, but this time, the Chinese people appear to have a united front against Sinkiang.
Casualty List

SPECIAL: World Wars in Asia and the Pacific Ocean

BATTLES OF FORMOSA AND KARLSO. Taipeng, occupied Swedish Empire. The Korean Empire has launched a major offensive against the Dutch and Swedish empires in the Far East. Portugal joined their ally in several attacks of its own, and the first of either was the Portuguese capture of the Swedish island of Karlso. With the Swedish Navy on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, they were unable to stop the Portuguese advance, though the local garrison managed to make the invaders pay for every step of ground. The fighting spirit of the Swedes was further reflected on Formosa, when the Korean Empire launched its own invasion. Stuck on the beaches under heavy artillery fire for almost two weeks, the Koreans only began to drive inland when Swedish heavy ammunition began to run low. The advance was slowed once again when a Swedish relief fleet arrived from Hawaii, bringing much needed munitions and reinforcements. A pitched naval battle was then fought between the Swedish and Korean navies, which led to a bloody victory of the Korean armed forces, though at a hefty cost. By the end of the year, fighting began to stop, as the main cities of the island were finally taken from the Swedish garrison. Some fighting continues on the New Year, however, as token Swedish guerillas continue the fight from the island’s mountains.
Casualty List
Korean Empire: 48 Infantry Brigades, 2 Cavalry Brigades, 4 A-35 Brigades, 3 Destroyers, 2 Light Cruisers, 1 Heavy Cruiser, 2 Battlecruisers, 3 Dreadnoughts, 1 Atlantic-class Battleship, 2 Zeppelin Bomber Squadrons, 1 Phoenix Squadron, 1 Dragon Zeppelin
Portugal: 8 Infantry Brigades, 1 Destroyer, 1 Heavy Cruiser
Swedish Empire: 27 Infantry Brigades, 9 Artillery Brigades, 2 Panzer III Brigades, 4 Destroyers, 3 Light Cruisers, 3 Heavy Cruisers, 2 Battlecruisers, 5 Dreadnoughts, 2 Atlantic[/]i-class Battleships, 1 Constantine-class Battleship, 4 Hlin-1 Squadrons, 4 Tyr-1 Squadrons, 1 Jaguar Squadron

BATTLE FOR TIMOR. Kupang, Portugal. A smaller battle took place in the Far East this year as Portuguese forces moved in to occupy Dutch East Timor, declaring that the Dutch monarchy illegal stole that from Portugal. The Portuguese met only limited, but vicious, resistance from the local garrison, easily securing control of the countryside. The Portuguese have welcomed the return of the entirety of the island to their empire and have vowed that with the capture of Karlso, a new dawn has broken for the Portuguese Empire.

EUROPEAN CUP CANCELLED. Warsaw, Russian Federation. The outbreak of war in Europe came at the start of the European football season, as the conflict soon interrupted the sport. The European Cup was soon cancelled as the various nations turned from the sporting fields to the battlefields .The Russian Sports Authority and several other remaining neutral nations have discussed the possibility of establishing a new league or organization for the meantime of the war. The victories of France in the conflict have encouraged some to believe that a victorious Co-Axial Pact may establish a new organization, particularly considering the Axis Games during the Providence International Olympics. The spread of the World Wars to Europe however, means that sporting on the continent could be forever changed.

NEW STADIUM IN NEW CAEN. New Caen, Republic of New France. The New French Republic has already begun preparations for the 1944 Olympics, as they begin setting up a brand new stadium. The construction of a massive stadium complex within New Caen has absorbed the efforts of much of the nation’s construction and design communities. The government has pledged that even on a continent consumed by warfare, that they will continue to plan for the future. This has been seen as a strong platform of the new Social Demcratic government, which has pledged to keep the peace in the western part of North America.

OLYMPIC COMMITTEE RELOCATES. Geneva, Switzerland. The attacks upon Copenhagen have resulted in the flight of the International Olympic Committee to the Swiss city of Geneva. The brutal warfare of the World Wars has encouraged the flight of the Committee, hoping to maintain objective neutrality in the ongoing conflict. The Committee has hopes for a peace of some type to emerge from the conflicts across the globe, but have stated that should a peace not result soon, the 1940 Budapest Olympics could well be cancelled. The brutal fighting in the city between Hungarian and French forces may have left the Committee’s choice for 1940 in ruins.

While we hope to maintain the authority of the monarchy, we are prepared to consider other alternatives which you may find less preferable.

ooc: yes hes done well with it but had the treaty of rome been more strict or the war gone on longer things might have been different. I blame this all on the treaty of Rome. But now i know how the countries at the Treaty of Versailles felt when WWII broke out

Haiti accepts only you leaving the Haitian West Indies, and northern Haiti. We are quite capable of controlling our own empire, and Cuba is not made to be an empire. While you were trying to make a government Haiti was establishing power and entering world affairs. We suggests you leave all of Haiti.

Then that is your opinion but just be aware this glory you feel now is not going to last.

EDIT: By the way EQ I meant to ask this a long time ago, but what happened to the ton of EP I had banked before the Haitian Civil War?
