A More Perfect Union

Regarding workers: We have the funds to purchase one. I am raising this topic to public debate: Should the President issue an executive order to purchase a Worker, to be dispatched to improve New York?

Regarding foreign policy:

It is now evident that Japan is a mighty power, too great to be overtaken with a few Pikeman units. Barracks are being produced, bearing in mind the adage: "If you want peace, prepare for war."

We need to expand both east and west, and I agree that we need to secure the source of iron first. The production of Barracks in Washington will be over in a short while. Another Executive Order might be to start producing a Settler in Washington after the Barracks is finished. Of course, a representative or a senator can propose such a bill, but it will take some time before we can sign a law to that effect. Meanwhile production in New York is slow, therefore the possible Executive Order to purchase a worker and to send it there.

We need to do this debate in the understanding that I have the support of the House for the decision.

Movement order for troops: 2nd Company Pikemen to circle around Osaka counterclockwise and return to the Northern Border of America through the gap between Kyoto and Tokyo. 1st Company Pikemen to circle counterclockwise in a 2 hex radius, and when facing south-southwest, continue exploration of the terrain, across Chesapeake Bay.

Mr. President: Keep in mind that we have a Settler on the way from the Social Policy we're about to adopt. Building a Settler in Washington would therefore found our 4th City, not our 3rd. Not necessarily a bad idea, but we don't yet have a location for City #4 (Los Angeles? This one I don't remember).

Concerning cities: before we act too rashly, do we really need the Iron to the West? I'm not an encyclopedia of buildable units, but I'm pretty sure nothing from Musketman (Minutemen) onwards requires any Iron. The Iron will still make for great Production so it might still be a good city location, but we should make sure to have our priorities straight.

And I'm not inaugurated yet, but I'm all for this worker-buying. Count me in.

Thank you very much for this reminder.

I am not sure how to read the signs of the times. The way I see the city statistics, we are already long overdue adopting a policy. If this is the case, then worker purchase seems like a logical option.

One last note about worker-buying, and whether you'd want to make it your EO: since you just signed Rudragun's bill, which will make us adopt Collective Rule and Citizenship, we will be gaining a free worker as well as the free Settler. So a purchased worker would be Worker #3...maybe overkill, maybe not.

I think it would be best to have three workers over two or maybe three cities. It will allow better to create a better society. Inthink to beat Japan we need to have a better production and gold output so that we can field a large army.

I vote for Jehoshua as representative of Washington ;)

So this has been a pretty slow session of congress so far. Many people have yet to exercise their rights to do things they could be doing. But 1.5 days remain until the close of this congress session, so be sure to exercise your rights! (But only if you want to...)

ooc: It doesn't help that this american system of governance confuses me (Im used to parliamentary democracy, and oligarchic autocracy, this system confounds my mind).

I just found this thread (and this site) today, but obviously it was good enough I needed to join.

I wish to join as a resident of Washington. With President Ceskari's permission I would also like to join as a member of the Communist party and run for office as the Senator of Washington. Beyond that I vote TaintedTamt for Representative of Washington for District 1.

Should I be elected I promise to file a worthwhile bill every session and vote on any bills available to the betterment of our glorious Union.

Dear darknight66071.

The Party welcomes you as Member. As of this upcoming election, you will get the full support of the Party!

I will also invite you to our next Party Congress. Look for this in your mailbox.

Ceskari
President & Chairman

Following GreyWithAnE's advice, I will refrain from giving an executive order this turn. I have signed one bill and given orders for the troops. I have also used my right to vote, which I am lucky to have, as opposed to people in some other systems for government. If only the People, especially the Workers of the World were to realize that one vote per person is a privilege that you should use, to vote for the Communist Party to oversee the pursuit of happiness and other unalienable rights of the People.
