A New Dawn Beta Builds

Okay, 1.73beta3 is out!

It's not that different from 1.72b, except that it's using the older Better AI, which should make it stable again. Everything else was just updating from other modders.

What a speed! I love you guy!

P.S.

I always make mistakes in grammar, I should say "Why did not you get any CTD?" instead. Forgive me....

Yay! *downloads*

Is the Misc Mod updated to v2 and the Domestic Animal mod have vicinity bonus changes by Grathocke?

EDIT:

Now that I downloaded it, I can say that the Misc Mod is updated. However the Domestic Animal mod doesn't seem to have the vicinity bonus. Maybe next update.

Thanks for putting in what you did Afforess. Also for making it playable again. :D Those CTD really sucked.

I downloaded the latest files from SVN, rebuilt the installer, compiled the dll from sources and overwrote it, started a new game. Then I got this: ( at revision 118 )

80000000()
> CvGameCoreDLL.dll!CvGameAI::AI_makeAssignWorkDirty() + 0x22 bytes C++
CvGameCoreDLL.dll!CvPlayer::setCivics() + 0x88 bytes C++
CvGameCoreDLL.dll!CvPlayer::init() + 0x7e6 bytes C++
Civ4BeyondSword.exe!00472cf5()

Edited:

It's fine in the debug, is it an incompleted building problem again? I'm fully rebuilding it now...

Yes, it's an incompleted building problem. It's OK now, never mind what I reported...

If I play AND 1.72A in German then I don´t see the name of most (or even all?) buildings that are added by AND (ROM 2.91 buildings are doing fine). There are simply no names, not ingame and not in the civilopedia, although the translations do exist in the xml files. I see this e.g. with the Early Buildings (and many more).

Here my A New Dawn.log:

This problem is still there in Beta 1.73 (at least for me). In the support ticket it is mentioned as "closed" and "fixed" and the OP quotes "no known bugs", so I humbly thought I could mention this ;) ...

got the same playing game in French

Did you guys do a clean install with 1.73beta? Text files tend to linger around. I KNOW I fixed the bug, I just did a full install and switched the languages, and the civilopedia was fine. (I did see the bug with 1.72A, I know what you guys are talking about)

I did a clean install again and now it runs just fine, so it was false alarm, sorry for the mess :blush: ...

Sorry afforess I didn't install the bta yet but I do it NOW, and tell you.

French is ok now afforess, even RevDCM is in French now.

Afforess,

Can you fix the cottage over forest bug that was introduced recently?(i.e. having to have iron working to build cottage directly over/remove forest, when you can simply chop (via Bronze) and then build the cottage) ?

Also, I really liked being able to build cottages without removing forest (its more eco friendly :D ) if you can have that back also.

If you do this can you please tell me how to put it back :lol:

Not a fan of the cottage/town in the forest scenario

I'm playing the 1.73beta and the scoreboard has just gone missing. Save/reload doesn't fix it. CTD appear to be gone, and I haven't spotted the FoW issue.

Yeah, watch out, there is a button on the minimap that hides the scoreboard. I only noticed it yesterday. ;)

I can see from the "to do list" in the opening post that most tags for the economy modcomp is already done. This is awesome, I'm getting excited here! How about the new inflation formula, is that ready too?

I am waiting to get all the tags done before doing that, but yeah, I've been making progress. ;)

@Afforess,

You have said on several occasions that you've made improvements and tweaks to the AI. Does this apply only to Ruthless AI or the default AI also? I like Ruthless AI, except that with it, Civs seem to ignore your diplomatic status with them. I've had Yellow smiley faces declaring war once or twice and many Green smiley faces have declared. That's the reason I stopped playing ruthless. It makes diplomacy less important.

Yes, Ruthless AI is only one component of the AI. I also revised the city building code, which has greatly improved AI city growth and production, along with fixing some of the drafting AI.

No wonder the AI's cities are growing like mushrooms. I've noticed that in the last three games. Close to twice the size as before in the same time frame. Overall, I can see improvements in many areas. The main one left is battles. They still fight pretty poorly. Still, a tremendous improvement in the past month. Great work !
