A New Dawn Beta Builds

Hello, i was starting a game with :
- Mixed continents
- French de Gaulle

and had this starting position :

Note : the warrior unit started in water (the screen capture is one turn after, it was able to move to small island).

Okay guys - I've had 150 downloads, but only 3 people posted feedback. I need to know - what did you like - what did you dislike - what can be improved?

Afforess,

Turn times are greatly improved, esp. in the late game.

I ran two sets of autoplay and it went rather quickly. In the middle of a game now and it feels rather tight in terms of gameplay.

I'm not playing with Ruthless AI, yet the AI seems a little better. Maybe it is me.

I like the new civ descriptors (the peaceful empire of ....) -- however, in the late game, it isn't uncommon to have "Peaceful peaceful peaceful Egyptian Empire"

The upgrade paths and tech paths seem more logical than in the past. Good job with these.

No CTDs to date. Hopefully my luck does not run out.

In a nutshell -- really liking this version a lot more than the previous few. Cleaning it up and not having it build on top of ROM I think made a big difference.

ok I found a bug, and it needs to be killed with fire from orbit: the second theory of evolution is back, and it's still overpowered (two free techs in the industrial age is too good, no matter the cost)

Hello,

First I want to say, great work, best version of the mod so far. Here is a list of things I noticed, maybe this helps improving the mod.

1. School of scribes seems a little bit broken, because first it removes the sciences bonus from elder council, so in the beginning of the game, I would not build school of scribes. School of is needed for Plato Academy, but when upgraded to library i doesn't count for Plato Academy anymore. Is this right?

2. Hellenic Gymnasium has an error with its description in the civilopedia

3. After having a second city no religion gets founded in the capital anymore. Is this correct?

4. To my mind you can change to pacifism way to early.

5. The upgrade of the weaver shop seems broken, one gives +percent, the other an absolut value. All the other upgrades of production buildings seem good. I like the upgrade chains very much.

6. Some techs have the same icon, insurance, stock brokering use the icon from reiver regulation or so.

7. Some building use the same icons, manor and the town hall chain. And things like academy. Maybe someone can make icons for them.

8. Some eonder videos don't show, Piazza san marco, Tower of pisa, porcelain tower

9. After obsolation of Piazza san marco, i have to build markets in every city. Is this correct?

10. After upgrading academy to great academy there are no longer people emploit, is this the way it should be?

11. Glassmith should be a national wonder like brewery

12.Town hall upgrade path is a little bit broken I think. After building capital administration I can still build city council. They both show up in the list of the built buildings, but they should be upgrades. Furthermore the building cost of Metropolian adm. and Capital adm. shuold be the other way round in my opinion. Maybe check the path again.

13. I like the concept of employing people very much, use it more if possible. I also like very that great people can build wonders, didn't noticed this before, maybe can be used more often too.

And finally a question to other people as well, how do I get 3 rows of buildings in the city screen instead of 2?

Sorry for the long list of things. I really like the mod the way it is now. Kept me playing the whole day, I am in industrial age now. But be carefull with the Sim City music, I almost started to look for the old cds.

Klltech & Afforess,

Still Revison 362 with the maintenance tweaks for admin building chains
Yeah, it is that good :D. There is already Revision 369, but my game is still playable :D.

Anyway, have fun analyzing Industrial era cities...

Game is working very fast and smooth. We have also Afforess as a Great Engineer :)

huh, the +43:gold: from buildings in Osaka seems to be from a shrine, but in Tokyo? there is no shrine. could you check from which buildings that gold comes form?

i wonder why the cities are so small in that age. so far i didn't play version 1.75 speed but that seems like a huge cut in city size compared to the last version i played. which game speed are you playing? maybe that is causing it since most game i played were on snail speed so i don't know how city growth is on faster settings.

it would be also interested in how much health & happiness you get from resources alone.

a small bug i've noticed: building suggestions in the gold hover-over info for gold seem not to counit in the the gold loss due to upgrading older buildings.

Playing normal speed. 125 Turns in. Renaissance Era. REV 368 (so no Apprentice school).

Best version of AND I've played to-date. :D

Rev. 368. This has been an issue for a while, but maybe overlooked??

I have been able to build, and re-build, and re-build the Temple of Amun in all my cities. I've been screwing with this for a while trying to figure out what causes it to disappear.

I believe that because the Temples all upgrade from Sacred Site, every time I build a new temple of a different religion, it overrides the previous temple that was built.

This doesn't appear to be the same case for Monasteries, where I can verify that I have more than religious monastery.

I played in the XML code, but I can't figure out what's causing it.

I should be able to build as many temples as I have religions present in a city. Please say it's not intentional...

huh, looks like it's hard to build financial/commerce buildings on that speed. there is pretty few commerce coming from buildings (compared to worked tiles) and gold form buildings. is this due to the fast game speed?

hmm, i guess it makes sense to make cuts on the building chains for faster game speeds: i.e. in each chain leaves one building out if someone plays epic speed. maybe two for normal and so on.

Maybe a translation error, but are you proposing to take buildings out of the game based on what speed they're playing?

If so, I strongly, strongly disagree.

Right now, on normal speed, the game is going very well. And, as you should be well aware, game speed decreases cost of techs and buildings, so I would expect there to be less commerce generated.

Cities are small because of citizens being used by buildings. That's my guess. Still a good game even if it has few bugs to be ironed out :).

The game goes smooth and quick.

I selected the Formations option and they look cool. I like them. I also selected a different color for the interface and it looks very nice. I forgot the name of the other feature but I installed it.

I played on a standard map, Epic speed, and tried a one Civ. Today I tried to change the map and run a large map, Marathon speed and a different Civ. I decided to try the Vikings and the interface didn't show up. I changed the graphic settings twice and still no interface with the Vikings. So I left everything the same except the Civ, changing to the Celts, and the interface was back. I do believe the Vikings are the cause of the interface not showing up. Also I notice when the game showed the options installed, the tech screen was also shown. Something with the Vikings is making the startup very funny.

Now, as the game was playing fine with the Celts, I noticed a funny thing. I had built the Elder Council which gave me 2 beakers, I discovered a religion which gave me 1 beaker, and I had Priesthood which says it gives the Elder Council +1 beaker. The info on the total research only show 1beaker from Religion and 2beakers from buildings. Why no +1 beaker for having Priesthood?

Potential bug. REV 368.

I have a Frigate, outside my borders, and 6 tiles away is a Barbarian War Galley. When I hit the "Automate Hunt" option, my Frigate runs back into my borders (3 tiles away), "spazzes" (e.g., expends all its moves running back and forth in 2-3 tiles), and then it out of moves.

I would expect it to go after the barbarian war galley? I had a few others that when I clicked "Automate Hunt" when they were in my borders, they just spazzed again.

Save game attached. Save game attached (Rev 368 with Cerlean interface color scheme installed).

Thanks!

Love the mod! 2 bugs I noticed so far:

1: on Marathon the timing is messed up... I'm approaching the Renaissance at 220 AD

2: The naming of Pacifist civs is a bit messed up (see screenshot) I don't think that the "Pacifist Peaceful Peaceful Peaceful Spanish Empire" is quite right! Also, everyone seems to adopt pacifist regardless of whether they're at war or not...
