A New Dawn Beta Builds

Did you notice that these 3 feedbacks tended to focus on installation process. For me, it is mostly full glass instead of a little empty glass :). I suspect that there will be maybe 2 or 3 beta releases this round :D. You did a great job.

It works really well.. But I suppose all of the Aarandas Religions, and HAND don't work anymore do they.. and Killtech do your civics work on this new version? I can't wait until you finish the final on them.. I like the idea of a standalone mod :)

I guess I should just assume that no news is good news. I'm going to be busy from Friday until Monday, so don't expect any changes until next week.
 
I'm assuming you said "Yes, please provide screenshots for Renaissance era. So here are they. Only first four. I have more cities now but I think first four cities will be enough for you.

If I play your map, I will establish my cities where have one tile offset from yours to reach the beach or the river. :P
 
I noticed one thing which confused me a little bit: When you install AND 1.75 to MODS folder in BTS, installer creates Rise of Mankind folder with Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn as a sub-folder inside. After that when you start BTS and try to load a mod, you have Rise of Mankind on the list and you can't properly load it.

I moved Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn up, to be a main folder in MODS, removed empty Rise of Mankind and - voila - worked very well.

I'm not sure - I didn't understand sth? I didn't install it properly (I tried twice)? I'm not even sure, if I explained it right..... :lol:

Anyway, standalone mod - excellent idea :)

I was busy playing the mod, it's just that good. :p

Had a lil heart attack when I found out I had no access to sulphur and that the martial arts buildings were gone. I've been planning my next moves while I'm slaving away here at work. I guess the mass martial arts 2melee unit->rifles got fixed heh. :D

I started the Beta without changing the language (used german before) and got problems with buildings having no name and other things. OK, I know, I haven´t done any translations for a while :blush: but I would have expected to have older text in german and newer text in english.

When I wanted to switch to english language I saw that "english" was already chosen and there was no option to switch to any other language. In the end I found a solution: Start vanilla BTS, change language to english and then start AND again. Now I have the fully working english version. Now I can even select other languages, but if I do I am starting again with the mess I described above.

BTW: My game hasn´t reached far but until now everything else is to my liking. Building stats look much better compared to 1.74.

The installer remembers the last location...which was in the Rise of Mankind folder. It needs to be installed to you MODS directory.

Of course, if you were to install it again, it would now install into the correct directory (so it's a known issue, but not a repeatable one...)
 
Note, I was playing the Russians and noticed that the model being uses for the Mig 15 ((P59)) is the Mig 3 prop, and the standard prop fighter is the default. One of the things that worried me is when I played beta is that Unique units such as the Migs and tanks for certain countrys would be wiped off as they did not show up on the list, although the unit models for the most part show in Civopedia for that nation. Also if needed I could design country specific replacement textures for vehicles ((IE stratigic bomber B52 texture for Russia, England replaced with a TU-95 bear,Avro Vulcan etc.)) Well tell me what you guys think.

Either turn off UAC on your Windows Vista/7 system, or run the game as an administrator.
 
"Desert" promotion does not give 2 moves in "Desert flood plains" - which is wierd as scouts and such move 2 squares in them without promotoins anyway. (same as in 1.74H)

Unticking "Field of View" in options forgets the set value and defaults to 42 ( or whatever the default value is). Even if the "remeber Field of View" is set.

And the biggest problem - in MP ( see attached save) - Running perfectly until we ended the game for the first time. Trying to load resulted in "Memory allocation" and on other several tries CTD.

We tried either computer being the "host" and previous saves and Nothing. The saves are not that big yet that the "memory" should be a problem.

I doubt that I will be converting any of my mods to AND 1.75. When I play it I miss RoM to much. It is just too different for me. I will stick with 1.74H (without BetterRoM and BuildingUpgrades) and maybe see if transferring the dll from 1.75 will work there.
 
uhm the installer would install directly to D:\ instead of C, creating anew program files\ folder wich made me think it doesn't not work ,because civ was installed in C:.
 
I installed 3 times a new dawn 1.75, yet it does not show in the mods folder wich is empty. But i have 4.5 gigs less on my HDD, because of the 3 invisible installations, what t...?

When you double-click the exe file, it pops up with the box saying it will install Rise of Mankind- A New Dawn
Now you click OK
Now it pop with welcome first page
You click Next
Now it show where it install to...
Tell me what it say...

Then we will figure how you can install right way :). Plus deleting the not so invisible installations.
 
Playing 1.75Beta1
1st issue:
I had the chariots quest, and when I build a chariot and it gets selected on the turn it's built the game stutters a lot, as if the CPU is going through the roof trying to do something. The icon menu on the bottom (with the fortify, explore, etc commands) shows empty even though the chariot is highlighted as selected unit. When I select another unit in a different plot, the game goes back to normal (without stuttering), and it resumes the stuttering when i select back the chariot, even though click-selecting it this time brings the command icon menu on the bottom (and allows me to disband the unit). After disbanding the unit, I build another one 2 turns after and the exact same behaviour occurs.

2nd issue:
I start in the ancient era, with all the default civics. When I research monotheism (through priesthood) I get the option the build a jewish temple on my jewish cities, even though it's not state religion and I have folklore civic. When I change to monarchy/charity/state church (all other civics unchanged) and then convert to judaism, the temples can no longer be built (and any temples being built get "can no longer build". Later on I change another two civics to patrician/coinage and suddenly I can build the temples again.

No CTD so far, almost to medieval age.

I had the same problem : it's because of the new leader : Atotoztli.

Tags are only in English. Simply create the German Tags, and it will work. I uploaded it in svn, rev 369
