A Not So Modest Proposal Regarding Buildings, Resources and Units

I actually like most of it. It as just that if a building requires a resource then it should also require the tech that gives the resource also.
 
Scotland Yard can only be built by a Great Spy and putting restrictions on it does not work since if you have a GS you can still build it in the ancient era.

Restrictions are still checked even for unit built buildings like that, aren't they?
 
It'd have to be in the XML definitions on the Scotland Yard itself. We know from animal generated buildings that tech requirements are maintained on unit built buildings.

But these are Great People and that stuff is done in the dll! It is why Story Tellers get rid of all anarchy - the dll thinks they are G Artist (because of the XML) and so assigns the Cultural Bomb mission. I don't think those missions even look at the XML for limits.
 
Ah... so the animals are done via python then? Ok. Should be fairly easy to isolate that its not making a check to see if the building can be built and to get it to do so before allowing it. It's now 'on the list'.
 
I see that the Sphinx and Pyramids don't require sculptures any more. I think this is not quite correct. My suggestion was that since they required sculptures that they should also require the Sculpture tech since you can't have sculptures without it. I was also going to suggest that in addition the Spinx not require sculptures but be built faster with them.

No. Sorry no :coffee: this morning so I may not be being as clear as I should be.

1. The Sphinx should have the tech Sculpture as a requirement and be built 10% faster with the resource sculptures.

2. The Pyramids should have the tech Sculpture as a requirement and have the resource sculptures as a requirement.

The Spinx does not have movable sculptures but the Pyramids do as grave goods. Where as having sculptures means that expertise is available to help in then construction.

BTW I like your idea of auto building The Valley of the Kings since it reduces the control on when you get the golden age.
 
I am having a problem with the changes to requirements for corporations. They require Skyscrapers and Offices so why haven't they all been moved to these later techs? Currently you get told you can build them in the late industrial but you can't until the early modern.

All of the corporation stuff was done by Praetyre with Project Hades. If you have a problem with them feel free to tweak them. I have had to do the same for other aspect of Project Hades that Praetyre put in without approval.

Much of what Praetyre did was not what made sense for the game but made sense in the real world. And many times did not account for what happens if a building is not enabled yet by a tech.
 
I'm willing to tweak it so that the earlier corporations have Trading Post as OR requirements. I'm also completely willing to take out any part of PH if requested, be it permanently or for review. The things I added I did largerly under a modder's aegis; I'm fine with putting all changes under content review if that would be less obstrusive.

The problem is that the requirement of skyscrapers means that all the corporations go from being spread out over the industrial era to one tech in the modern era. Are skyscrapers really the requirement? I thought it was offices but there is no offices resource.
 
I'm currently working on an update so that corporations which require techs before Civil Engineering will be able to have HQs with Modern Offices, Officiums or Skyscrapers.
