A question of perspective on "my black friend"

BLM loses me when they bully and harass people and hold up criminals as victims, otherwise I support ending the drug war and that is the primary cause of the legalized injustices facing blacks.

So where are the Democrats? Filling the jails with black people while calling other people racists.

Didn't I already say that I wasn't trying to get you to change sides, I was just making fun of you?

By the way, when you say "I have for years avoided getting any actual information on this" at the end of a days long very animated presentation of your opinion on it making fun of you is almost unavoidable.
Right...so what are you making fun of me for exactly?

Right...so what are you making fun of me for exactly?

Your repeatedly and very clearly claimed opinions on matters of race and gender bias being followed by your denial of having any knowledge of or interest in the subjects. I guess commending you for a sudden bout of honesty is an option, but making fun of that is really irresistible.

What opinions? I thought your whole problem was that I didn't have an opinion.

No, my problem with you was that your opinion was clearly unfounded, as many people pointed out. Once you made it clear that the reason your opinion was unfounded was because you really had no interest in the subject, and that you were going to therefore just cling to your unfounded opinion as if it were fact the problem changed. Then when you started denying having an opinion at all it changed again. But I've still been amused the whole time, pretty much.

And what was my opinion again?

And what was my opinion again?

I think you probably stated it most clearly in the thread about what a poor picked on white male you are. Perhaps if you go review that you will get an idea about how you have presented yourself and figure out how you came to be the butt of the jokes.

Cue: But wait, this is a different thread! I'm a totally new person and nothing I've ever said before counts here!

So before you were saying:

I'm suggesting that if you are genuinely capable, at this point, of saying "well, I dunno if our criminal justice system really has any problems or not" that you definitely are making a big effort to avoid looking. If you are making such an effort I don't care if someone blocks your driveway, or for that matter burns your house. I'm not advocating it, but since nothing else has gotten your attention I won't be surprised by it nor will I be terribly sympathetic about your plight.

Then that shifted to:

Didn't I already say that I wasn't trying to get you to change sides, I was just making fun of you?

And now it's been shifted to you were making fun of me for something unrelated that I said in a different thread? All the while avoiding actually saying what you're talking about?

This is getting impressive dude. You should teach a class on BSing people.

This is getting impressive dude.

Not really. The "oh I never said anything you're just picking on me" game is old hat around here. They try "oh, if it was in another thread it doesn't count." They even try "oh I might have said that a few posts back but that wasn't related to this." If really cornered they might even try "oh yeah I said that but I was just being devil's advocate I never really meant it." It might work for a few days for the really skilled, and for the persistent it seems like it must be fun, because we've had some people keep at it long past the time it was dead and stinkin'. But there's nothing impressive about it, or about being the person who is willing to confront it and call it what it is.

And now I'm wondering who's trolling who :p

I don't really watch the news. Actually I pretty much went from 2012-2016 intentionally ignoring politics and news. On top of that, I don't take anything I see on the news at face value. And I won't form an opinion until I've looked into an issue myself, which I haven't gotten around to for BLM. Your attempts to shame me into taking your side on this issue aren't changing that.
This seems like a roundabout way of saying that you don't care about racism, but that we're not supposed to point it out.

BLM loses me when they bully and harass people and hold up criminals as victims, otherwise I support ending the drug war and that is the primary cause of the legalized injustices facing blacks.
Are "criminal" and "victim" mutually-exclusive categories? A person who steals five dollars is a criminal, if that person is then beaten by the police, they are a victim of police brutality. Surely?

America does not, to my knowledge, practice the Medieval custom of outlawry, and even if it did, a Writ of Outlawry would need to be produced by the appropriate authority figure, rather than the police simply deciding it on the spot.

Man you guys are a kick. Do you really think I was saying that I don't care about nonwhite people, or that I don't care about abuse? Keep your justice boner in your pants.
And here I was proud of you for admitting you do not care unlike the tens of millions of Americans who pretend to care, but don't.

Like selling loose cigarettes? Such a heinous crime deserving death.

You never answered my question about the rioting. But whatever, let's dive into this. What do you mean by "care about racism", and how does my post go against that?

Let's not. Feeding your endless line of questions regarding a subject you claim to have no interest in or knowledge about is a fairly pointless exercise, even among the usual spectrum of feeding exercises.

My bad for responding to posts that are directed at me. I'm still waiting on you to tell me what my opinion is.

You never answered my question about the rioting.
You didn't ask one. You made a statement, and then typed "?", which isn't the same thing.

But whatever, let's dive into this. What do you mean by "care about racism", and how does my post go against that?
By "care about racism", we mean taking racial injustice seriously, and you've stated that this isn't something you have the time or inclination to do.

I already explained where you made it clear to the rest of us. So here's a good idea for while you "keep waiting." Hold your breath. That suits the childish nature of your posts.

Y'all Americans are obsessed with people's skin colours.

I have some black friends, but they're just regular people, so I don't think of them as "My black friend". It's just my friend.

Great. Not at all the point, or what the thread was about, but great.

To try to get back to the point, the "my black friend" in the thread title doesn't refer to any actual person. It refers to the standard debate tactic racists routinely employ of attributing whatever absurd rhetoric they are spouting to "my black friend" as a way to make it seem credible.
