A visual experiment: Would you like Civ3 to look like this -->

Some good news for all your reckless guys. I've just sent to Kryten, my official betatester, a new version of the tool.

New features :
- waiting delays,
- "Translation", to make automatically the escaping guys in death animation
- Possibility to select the color of the bakground in the preview
- A new control to select the orientation of the preview ( a bit nicer than the old combo)
- and the possibility to see in the preview any frame (so you don't need to build the storyboard and export in in FLICSTER, you can simply "turn the wheel" to see a pseudo animation).

Are you sure there is no way you can get the 98 one done sooner? I would really like to testdrive it this weekend. :)

Yes, I'm sure I don't want to go to the office on Sunday to compile the Windows 98 version. But if you want to use the tool one day before, you can go to your favorite computer store, buy windows XP, and install it tomorrow.

The multi-figure units files forum is now created!

Krytan/Steph: Feel free to create the necessary threads and PM Chieftess to make them sticky. :)

I appreciate you Steph...

Maybe this has been mentioned before, but perhaps one could ad to these munits one or two casualties, ie blokes, who, whatever the outcome of the battle is, get wounded and fall to the ground. I do not know if flc' are looped or not, though. If they are, this would not work. They'd rise again. (Spooky)

Question: has someone done a soldier with a rifle, who would actually fall to the ground on their stomachs, and then start shooting? Smaller target and all that. It looks wierd, that the marine unit, for eg. just stands there like Rambo, mowing down opposition.

I forsee great things with this project...

Amazing work to Steph, Kryten and the team!!!

:goodjob:

MY LAST EVER PROGRESS REPORT
------------------------------------------

Well everyone, as you have probably seen from Thunderfall's post above, we now have a new "Multi-Figure Unit Forum"! :)
And Steph says that in just a few days he will post his marvellous "Civ3 MUSBB" utility. :goodjob:

Meanwhile, I am working on the "Ready Made MF Units modpack".
I will be posting the first ancient period modpack in the new forum sometime on Sunday (the other 3 packs, one for each Civ3 period, will be posted as each is finished over the following week or so).

Lab Monkey has also agreed to continue the excellent work he has done in the current Units Forum by hosting and maintaining a new "Multi-Figure Unit Library" for us. :)

Although th0mas has posted some lovely sound files for these new units, which should be enough to get us going, I am still on the lookout for more.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This thread is exactly two weeks old today.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for all their observations, comments and suggestions over the past hectic fortnight.

But without a doubt a special thanks is due to Steph for all the time and effort he has devoted in making this dream come true.
Without his wonderful utility, it would probably have taken us over a year to cut-'n-paste these new units, instead of just a week or two.
The whole civ community owes you a huge debt of gratitude Steph, and I would like to say on everyone’s behalf....
...."We thank you" :goodjob:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well....unless anyone has anything else to say, I think this massive thread has served it's purpose.

See you all in the new forum on Sunday. :D

All the best everyone..................................................Kryten

Some news about the tool. I've completly redone the way it define it what order the layer were copied.
Before, it was imposed by the name of the formation. Pb: you had few latitude with the offset, as offsetint to much could put a figure behind, when it should have stayed in front.

Now, thanks to my new depth analyser, the program find, from the position of the figure, in what order it needs to copy the files to have a nice unit, whatever the offsets, and whatever the orientation.

So I have only one more feature to add : the "spreading". So sunday release is still OK.

Good job, Steph!

It would be cool if you could make the program convert all units in a folder/sub-folders into multi-figure units automatically, just in case Infogrames doesn't allow posting of Civ3 PTW units. This way players can just download the program and select the units folder and press "convert"! :)

Is this feasible?

You guys work to fast, you make the rest of us look like slackers :) Thanks for the ideas and the tools, its these things that really keep the CFC crowd and CivIII in general unique and inventive. We can't give you guys to big of a head now, so... I hate you. There we go, everythings balanced now.
