A whole new EMC?

He lives in Singapore -- I believe -- so not the standard situation

I would be willing to buy a copy and send it to him, but he is going to college (or some form of secondary education --

Yes. People like you have been offering me help, which I greatly appreciate. I also feel that I have to thank DaviddesJ again for hosting all those screenshots on Photobucket when I was not financially independent. I am a fervent believer in paying for everything I use myself (parents are still an exception, though :p), so I feel a little undeserving.

I also feel kind of stupid for not pre-ordering or buying it from Amazon much earlier, though that would have been expensive with shipping and all. I trusted that Singapore is truly at the forefront of Information Technology, and that getting the latest games should be no hassle. I was wrong. The market is small, piracy is rampant and the people here generally don't have very commendable tastes in games. I waited for a week, two, three... How much longer could it take? Well, very long, apparently. And if I had decided to buy it through Amazon two weeks ago, it would still have taken at least a week to ship, and a little too close to the date of my departure and definitely not worth the costs. Buying it from Direct2Drive presented me with a problem of not being able to bring the game with me when I leave.

So I decided to take a break from Civ. If it so happens that I have quite a bit of time (the first year in college might not be very strenuous), I may just get BTS in ol' England and continue the series.

Given the literacy and insight he has displayed in these forums -- he will totally master high education -- advanced studies or what ever --
(as a former college prof, I wish my students had 1/2 the abilities that Aelf displays regularly on these games) --

Frankly, I was stunned when I learn that he lives at home and is in high school --

Heh. I'm feel so flattered  :mischief:

Aelf – good luck in school (you will need little) – while I am sad to see the EMC go on hiatus – I hope you will be back –

Thanks! It is my ultimate aim to have a large stake in the world of finance, and hopefully someday I can own a large part of whatever company owns the Civ brand name at that time and invest in the making of the best Civ game ever :D

Yeah, you can see GreyFox odyssey on getting his copy. I don't think he got it yet too. Here in Brazil there's no signal of BtS too... Well, you know.. The world consists on USA, Canada and Europe only! I was surprised to see Australia on that list!

This might not be true. I don't know Direct2Drive, but Steam has an backup option that lets you install the game in another computer, if you can't download it for some reason. The only thing Steam asks for is an active connection when restoring the backup for key validation...
But when I offered that tip you said the problem was having no international credit card.... :mischief:

You said in an earlier post: "Anyway, I think the ALCs are going to move up to Emperor soon.". There are different things to learn and discuss between EMC's and ALC's. But I won't enumerate them here... :p

Good luck with that!
And good luck with college too, aelf. Once you realize you have spare time again (and I think we all hope for it to be pretty soon), GET YOUR BtS COPY AND YOUR A$$ BACK HERE! Or else.... :ar15:

:D

You did? I might not have understood what you were saying completely :p

Anyway, yes, not having a credit card (I will soon, though) is a problem. As it is, every time I buy a game with my own money one of my parents will surely begin with the "You shouldn't be playing games, you'll get addicted, it's bad for your eyes, yadda yadda" tripe that is often repeated and highly annoying. Imagine if I were to ask them to lend my a credit card to buy a game. Yes, I would pay them the money back, but I can't buy without asking and the answer I get is most certainly "No".

I haven't even started school yet! I'm afraid you'll have to wait for me to get there and settle down, about 2 months at least :p Well, the first EMC didn't begin until almost a year after Civ4 was released, so I'm sure the BTS EMC can wait a couple of months... ;)

York. I'm doing PPE.

Great course choice - that's what I wanted to do, but my uni only did Social and Political Science (plenty of tasty history and philosophy, but too much blah-blah sociology for my liking).

York's a cool place with lots of history, but it does have a tendency to flood! I don't know anyone who's been to the uni, but it's said to be one of the best in the country (almost as good as mine ), so I'd reckon you'll have a lot on your plate.

Are you, by any chance, in Oxford, Cambridge, London or Warwick?
