In 1943, 3 men met in Santander, Spain and agreed an end to the war which would include the death or handing over of Hitler and an end to the war in the west (though not the east significantly). Name all 3 and explain what happened to this proposal.

General Stuart Menzies, Chief of British Intelligence

William J. Donovan, head of the Office of Strategic Services

Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, Chief of German Military Intelligence (Abwehr)

Roosevelt vetoed the idea of a seperate peace (indeed, of any outcome short of unconditional surrender)

I would guess none of them survived WW2. Maybe a couple of destroyers, but I doubt any of the capital ships did.

@ CruddyLeper: What exactly is your answer? That none survived or that only the capital ships were wiped out?

@ Meateater: I will get back to you on your answer, but I don't think it is correct.

To clarify - I have no idea if any survived, but I doubt any of the capital units did.

It sounds like I'm not the only one who is guessing. :)

The information I have contradicts what Meateater has said, so I'd have to rule his answer "incorrect." He sounds confidant though; I'd like to know what his source is.

None of the carriers or battleships survived the war. If
you are including other escort vessels, then I have no idea.

this was my source http://www.navsource.org/Naval/japan.htm
but I think 31 ships particapated in the attack, this site lists 22 minuse the 5 mini subs. so I may be missing some. But sheck out the site.

DD- Ushio
Sailed with Pearl Harbor Task Force but was assigned to bombard Midway Island Ushio was the only Japanese ship that took part on Attack on Pearl Harbor not to be sunk during the war. Ushio surrendered badly damaged and was scrapped in 1946

I wouldn't say Ushio participated in the Pearl Harbor raid; it attacked Midway, not Hawaii. Therefore, I am (reluctantly) forced to rule Meateater's answer incorrect. My apologies.

Pawpaw has the correct answer: zero. Nice job.

who actually wrote mein kampf ( we all know it was hitlers book but he never actually put pen to paper, someone else did)
