Aabra02: Hammy Builds a House

I probably confuse things, because I post a save every time I have a question or ask for discussion...often 2 or 3 times in a set. My questions are often not clear...even to me. :crazyeye:

Btw, while the whole leaving 20K open thing is a nice plan B, I'm 100% with Whomp on the whackage part as plan A. If we can get a good golden age going, we'll easily make 1 sword/turn (despot/AA) or 1 MDI/turn (republic/feudalism). This is some hardcore firepower. Well enough to take out the celts, for instance, with a bit of preparation. This would make a golden age much better spent, imho, than doing it for a wonder or two.

Yeah, that darned "maybe" threw me. In that case:

Bede, you're UP!

And I got the save!

Will gaze upon our situation tonight and come up with a plan.

Do we want our GA as despots or something else? I am assuming something else.

And since we lack only 8 turns of finishing the MoM I'm a gonna go for it unless the howls of outrage from the "wackyage" party are too loud...what's that you're saying, I can't hear you? The libray will fall when it can and we really have no use for it for awhile yet. BTW let's not discount the income from tourists in our calculations here. We have only one city and every mite males a big difference.

The only othe most important thing is continue to explore the world.

I say we revolt to whichever government comes up first and kick a GA soon so we get a load of swords out.

Agree. With only 8 turns left, finish up the MoM.

I've been meaning to ask about this. Support is going to be limited, regardless of what gov't we take. Betterplayers, what are your thoughts on the best gubmint for this game?

Finish MoM, for sure.
I'd prefer republic since it's not AW but think it's more important to get out of this stinkin' despot.
I'm not at all concerned about unit counts since the more units then the more cities we'll be able to count.

Republik. An'.... effective wars. Lotsa little bitty ones. Until we snag KT.... then we'll be ready for a good 'un. :hammer:

Well we got a whale of wastage on the Library I just built.

The Mayans finished the Pyramids and the Celts cascaded right through to MoM. The French built a Great Wall, the Portugese a Great Lighthouse, ans the Celts built that Big Tomb (the Maushaus).

Explored a tundra island with the curragh, whacked a barb camp for another 25g and sold TattoFace Literature for 191 gold pieces so we could upgrade the vet warriors as soon as the iron colony connected.

Cataractorum in the south popped its borders out so it won't be long before the borders expand to cover the iron colony, so Babylon was set to building 2 turn swordsman once the library was done. Once we get to within three or four gold pieces of the income, build two cats and a galley and let's go whack a Celt before he can make good use of "our" iron.

We have a road right to his doorstep and the workers are building another to his veranda in the south.

For the Admiral

Get ready to have some fun now. Limited resources and a war to fight!

Ouch. :cringe:

Yeah, I really, really don't like the idea of facing GSs.

Limited resources and a war to fight!
Murphy: When you're short of everything but enemy, you're in combat.

As for that really expensive Library... we I probably should've known better than to go for back-to-back wonders on Emperor... oh well; some days you're the bug, some days you're the windshield.

The Pyramids cascade was due to hit any time now. I just happened to be standing in the river when it it did. Nothing ventured nothing gained and faint heart never won fiar lady and so forth.

Alrighty then. It seems whackage is in my cards. I just got home so this will have to wait till manana for our Celtic neighbors.

It's all mine.

*picturing our dear monk tumbling cassock over teakettle* :p

:rotfl: you are too much, harriet. That image surpasses the silk jammies of Clive1!

Indeed it does. :salute: :rotfl:

What happens if you move the guard spear on the iron SW onto the mountain? If he gets thrown out, where does he land? If not west, then it would be worth it for the recon...

430 Send our curragh towards the sea lane towards the west of the island. Seems the most logical spot to go on a run..
In 410 BC I notice Abu has 48g and a worker. Trade him lit for it so he can get to work on some techs and we get a slave with some cash.

In 390 BC we lose our iron. We get two swords on my turns to go with Bede's two swords. Weeyikeswho!

In 370 we start rock throwers.

In 350 Celts have construction.

In 330 We've survived one round of ocean and this turn we see coast to the south. Head towards it.

Mao has no interest in dealing. Little does he know...
Oops I could've mm'd for 1 turn cats. Sorry. Start now.

On the IT we get construction.

In 310 we see a purple border!

Oops...the arabs get a little frisky...

In 290 we get busy.
Cut this deal..
portstradegw3.jpg

Then turn around and take Brennus' 240g bank with the sale of CoL.
Establish embassies with Abu for 60g and for 75g to visit Mao.

Shoot I forgot to take a picture of the Chinese. Needless to say all they've built so far is a colloseum. Ikes. They're far from the Ports.

Then try to bribe Abu with an ROP, his bank 72g for CoL. Hopefully this will hold off his archer. Move a spear and bow inside just in case.

In 270 One of our bowmans goes elite getting attacked by a barb.
Awesomeness!! The Ports must've researched republic and exchanged it with the Chinese for Monarchy so we'll have a government next turn. I think we'll be ready for war next turn too.

Pick up republic and monarchy. The Mayan finish SoZ.

In 250 We see an Orange border but can't get to it through a land bridge.

Summary
We have both governments. I'm inclined to build another spear but I think we can start the war in earnest with the Celts right afterwards while we revolt. I'm not sure where to send the galley and I left the bowman with movement in case we want to move away from the Celt archers.

Nice going Whomper. Looking good. Way to trade up to parity and keep the Great Lib producing.

I think we can afford a Republic what with only one city to keep happy.

If I remember correctly, I'm up next, right?

:yup: Roster:

Aabraxan - up
Beorn-eL-Feared - on deck
scoutsout -
gmaharriet -
Bede -
Whomp - just played

Looking good, Whomp! It feels strange to me to be building cats in a capitol city, but when that's all ya got.... ;)
