Pre-flight check: Dial up Brennus and get Peace for 180g. Establish an embassy with Celts and grab a screenie of Entremont.
Brennus wants Currency+Republic for an alliance v. Arabia... but he has to settle for Currency. Spend 80g short rushing a Sword in Babylon.
IBT - Mao complains about something Beorn left in his territory. Celts found Glanum between Babylon and Iron City. Babylon's borders expand, negating the colony.
Iron City Walls>Bowman
Turn 1/30 BC - Play a little whack-a-barb. Wake the worker in Iron City to get the thing connected.
IBT - Lizzie complains about a passing yacht. She learned Feudalism this turn. Abu shows up at the border with 3 horses.
Turn 2/10 BC - Pull the Elite Swords out of Iron City. Tempted to queue up a temple there to see if we can put cultural pressure on Curorvernum... Iron city will be connected in 9 turns. I think I'll start queueing up Warriors there after this Bowman.
Swords and Bowmen take out 3 Arabian horses with no casualties.
Turn 3/30 AD - mostly moving troops into Babylon to heal.
IBT - Portugese have learned Feudalism.
Turn 4/50 AD - I know the Celts are trespassing to go after the Arabs... but I don't like it. At all. We meet the Maya. They are backwards and useless.
IBT - Feudalism comes in. We train a Bowman in Iron City, and start in on Warriors.
Turn 5/70 AD - Upgrade 5 Swordsmen and one Spear. (To cover the MDI)
IBT - Arabs request an audience. I refuse. (I enjoy doing that.)
Turn 6/90 AD - I lose 2 Bowmen chasing a couple of Arab archers. Queue up a Trebuchet, as we're badly out of balance for MDI.
Turn 7/110 AD - I muffed the screenshot, but we caputured Aden this turn.
IBT - We train a Pike in Babylon... these Celtic Horses are making me nervous. I noted that we never built a Market at home, so I queue one up.
Turn 8/130 AD - Whack an Arab Settler trio (2 spears).
IBT - We train another Pike in Babylon, and then queue up the Market.
Turn 9/150 AD - whack a couple of Arab units...
IBT - most of the fighting is between Brennus and the Barbs...our Golden Age ends.
Turn 10/170 AD - Spend 280g finishing the Marketplace in Babylon... and another 104g rushing the Library in Aden.
Here's a screenie of the situation at Aden:
Brennus has half a dozen horses next to the town, everything else is onesie-two-sies. Hopefully they'll never return from their Arabian campaign.
With a little creative micromanaging... we can do some neat stuff in Babylon. If we work all the high-shield tiles we can get up to 30 spt... which is good for one-turn Trebuchets and Pikes (and we'll need 'em). If we work a bunch of coastal tiles we can get the shield production down to about 21spt, and get the gold up to 60 gpt... that's before the market that'll come in next turn. That's good for one-off Bowmen or 2-turn MDI at max gold.
