Acid_V: The ten horned beast

err... what's a save? Don't we have to research computers for that?

we could do agriculture and/or writing first, but my opinion is that in this game we should research IW before mathematics or alphabet because we want to take the jungle barbarian cities before AI does, and that annoyance with the pig at Sparta.

Looks like a tough game. I would not favor IW at this point. Horse archers are enough to take barb cities, let's take advantage of our free tech. I see calander/currency maybe via alphabet trade as our best bet. We have lots of nice land to improve and will not need to be clearing jungle for a while. Getting those calander resources with markets will be nice. Next most important is to see if there is anyone behind Brenus.

IW is for jungles not swords..
but, i would still favor literature first, gold plus two scientists in our capital should speed things up for us..

I'm not sure if it is right to chase Great Library with no marble and only 4 forests at capital (and our health is already not very good there, there is definite cost to chopping these forests)

Also we don't know whether alphabet would even be useful.

Lurker comment:

Just wanted to say that this game should be VERY entertaining to watch. No early rush really possible, maybe no tech trading if no 2nd AI (Brennus won't trade unless he knows another AI, right?), etc. I should learn a ton from reading this game :D Thks guys :)

NO, no marbl = no GL. In addition with out trading we would have to research religious line erly, which we can not affort.

I probably agree with Uber about Iron working as nearest target, I need to look on save.

NO, i made a lapsus lingua. I ment we should go for writing first and get library and assign two scientists.
i agree about not getting gl.

library should come before IW imo

save

played until IW after we got pottery...got a worker then archer, started a rax and when it grew to pop 5 started a settler in the capital
started to cottage spam
confucianism had been founded somewhere

then this happened...so there is someone else as well

acid5175.jpg

and he is the one who got CoL first, he also asked for OB which I agreed to

then in 1440BC the ridiculous happened

acid5175b.jpg

swapped back to archer production

defeat 2 archers with luck, whipped another in the north which was lost to his GW he has there
stopped the turn we got IW...we do have it in the south and it will be our life saver, workers are on the way and can connect it soon

our capital is on max food and cottages, we can whip, but i would wait for axes to do so

situation in the north, we have 2 archers there

btw why is this game on normal speed??? whis makes it even more difficult

because quick speed is just crazy. T_T

but yeah, i think we should start thinking about cultural victory here, lol we have brennus and napoleon here, how swell..
maybe even gear gp production toward great artists..

Holy Crap

Looking forward to seeing you guys work your way out of this...first barb onslaught and now Brennus...You guys have the best luck

ouch, deity early war declaration. Let's hope it's an opportunistic city grab attempt rather than all out war. At least IW worked out well, though not in the way we expected.

Might as well go ahead and whip another archer in Sparta. It's only working 1 net output tiles anyway and we should try to preserve our promoted archers.

We need to found the 3rd city so that our score will increase and Brennus will be willing to sign peace without too much hassle if we survive the rush. If we survive it is likely that Brennus and Napoleon will become worst enemies soon.

Ok, got it. i am incline to put thurd city where archer is, south. simple because it is safe and will be a good production city eventially. any other opinions?

We need a military city now as the 2 barb cities look more like commerce cities, the archer picket site looks pretty good for that getting cows in radius immediately as we don't have agriculture to work the rice yet.

OK, seens I probably would not have time to play tomorrow, played today.

T0 swich to granary in order to whipe next turn.
Whiped archer in treatened city.
Next turn we lost our supper archer, but hold.
IN responce he move rest of his stack to our capital, not on pillaging mission.
I connected Iron and whiped sword and build sword from overflow.

With lost of one cottage I whiped his 4 archer+ spear.
Brenus took 2 barbarian cities.
I finish settler and build a worker + one more worker in build.
I was trying to hurd brenus city atack trops, kill one unit, but he move axe in.
I think we need some how to defend and send pillaging party to Brenus.
So, I connect hourses and building Stable in capital.

At least the barb cities absorbed some of his attack units, but if we don't take them from him during this war we can write this game off as a loss, we need those resources.

OK I've played to 450BC and I will stop and ask what you guys think. We are being overrun. He now has LBs and cats. He wants Sparta for peace. He has 14 troops I can see. Sparta is cut off and can't build s***. I have 2 phylanx a HA and 2 swords to fight this. Already whipped some of that. I think we should give Sparta and try to take what we can of the remaining Barb cities and expand to the W. BTW I think this is probably a lost cause anyway but we could see what we can do. Lack of early contact is a killer.

Hi, I'm curious how things would've been different with early contact? Wouldn't it have been just as bad if you had contacted him earlier but had still declared on you? What would have been different? (I'm not disagreeing, but am sincerely curious how things might've been different :) ) thks!
