My mission is accomplished here.

Can I sig that?

Oh...so you had a 'mission' in this thread? Odd how you didnt declare your mission accomplished when Warpus similarly pointed out:

There's no way a private entity would ever have access to the same sort of resources that the cops do. What you are proposing is a bad idea.

What was it pray tell? Please illuminate us all. Or are you merely doing your best GWB impression...

And thanks for asking, and no you may not.

To get conservatives to not only see that the free market is not the end all, be all to solving everything, but to emphatically state that it isn't.

I'm a bit surprised on the sig thing though.

Since I have long since been of the opinion that military legal services were by far more effective per dollar than the private market per soldier, for example, well, I have no idea what the hell your celebrating.

You shouldnt be.

Ok, I will jump onboard. I emphatically capitalize on the fact that insurance is governments way of raising taxes since they can no longer do it and survive. The reason why capitalism does not work is because when you take away responsability and give it to the state, it is no longer capitalism but socialism. It seems you want the reward of capitalism but leave the burden on somewhere else. Capitalism will never work for socialist and Socialism will never work for capitalist. If you can succeed to be responsible in a socialistic society, you are not being less of a burden if you complain you are doing more than your share.

In other words you agree with me that search & rescue should be privatized?

Why should it be a crime to not socialize the search?
There's a reason policemen don't like vigilantes. There's a reason the fire department doesn't want you putting out a house fire with a garden hose. There's a reason the Coast Guard doesn't want you jumping into a raging river to rescue someone from a flood. And there's also a reason the police don't want you running into the brush to search for missing persons.

Because all the above people tend to become casualties themselves. Vigilantes get beaten up or shot by the crooks they're trying to stop. Putting out a house fire with a garden hose gets you a trip to the burn ward. Jumping into a river to rescue a flood victim produces two flood victims. Running into the brush to search for a missing person tends to produce two missing people.

You don't socialize a crisis. You specialize it towards the people who know best how to deal with it.

Wow. Just wow. Gotta ask.....how the living hell do you know the child is 'bratty'? :(

They're simply are. You've got babies wit a cry that pierce your ear drums and children who don't listen and generally tick you off. They are best seen and not heard. Why should my taxes for the police be wasted on finding some bratty kid when the parents can't keep track of them?!

Not until you agree with me on how it will be paid/subsidized. It is not cost effective to spend money on a service that one already pays for through taxes. I would agree with you 100 years ago, when it would have benefited in a capitalistic way.

I also find it quite un-funny that the state is thinking about persuing Casey for the charges of this failed trial. She has no income and who in the public is going to spend money to provide her the ability to pay. Oh yes, government subsidized poor who like to "feel" good about themselves, or twisted thinking people who waste money.

BTW insurance only works if it is making money. A free-market concept.

You set the premium high enough to profitably cover the search and rescue missions. A fairly starightforward bit of math for the insurance industry to figure out.

And you would be willing to cut government spending on an equal share, and remove the burden from the tax payer?

I didnt think you were old enough to be yellin 'get off my lawn!!!'.

Also, just an fyi, girls like guys that like children. Just sayin. :)

That is why I am proposing that the superior skills of the private market be tasked to the search and rescue rather than the government.

I read the thread up to this point before I was certain this was a ruse. This post makes it clear that it was a ruse. Before, I only had a vague idea. I was just about to respond, letting Mobby know it was reverse psychology, when I saw there was another page.

Darn it.
