Steele On RNC 'Census' Mailer: We Followed The Rules -- Dems Just Wrote A Lousy Bill

ORNC Chairman Michael Steele defended the RNC's 'Census' mailer in an appearance on CNN a few minutes ago, saying the mailer "complied to what the law required."

The RNC mailer bears the words "Census Document" and, in all caps, "DO NOT DESTROY/OFFICIAL DOCUMENT," on the outside of the envelope. In smaller letters, it says: "This is not a U.S. government document."

Earlier today, the House passed a new bill that seeks to ban such misleading Census mailers once and for all by closing loopholes in an existing law that already bans deceptive fundraising mailers of the sort sent recently by the RNC.

On CNN, Steele said the mailer was "not outside of those bounds" and complied with the existing law.

"I can't help it that the Democrats wrote a bad bill," he said. "The reality of it is we complied to what the law required and the mailer went out."

We were well within the new statute, as the committee will be of any further legislation on this issue. Any confusion is the result of vague or unclear legislative language. If the Democrats have this much trouble writing a relatively simple bill, how can they credibly write a coherent bill on health care, financial regulatory reform or jobs creation that run hundreds of pages?

I knew this was Obamas fault and Acorn with their election stealing tactics.
Stay classy Republicans.

EDIT: Republicans should hurry up and close the loophole that allows funds to be spent on lesbian bondage shows

I like this way of thinking. Why shouldn't the Repubs not poke holes in bills by Dems? (unless it negatively effects voters, in which they loss votes)

But what's this have to do with ACORN, or how a private spends it's funds?

New Definition: All laws with Republican co-sponsors are "by Dems."

Anyway, good question! Hmmm... I guess the answer is that they did is grossly unethical.

Oh, sorry, I forgot who we're talking about: It's OK If You're A Republican.

Poke away! Who wants to open a thread on finding loopholes in murder or rape laws? I bet with some cutting edge tech and/or designer drugs, some brainstorming... some lawyers to give us their blessing.... we'll find something. Or at least have fun trying.

No wait, lets look at stuff that only carries civil penalties. That way we can buy our way out if the law ever catches up with us. We'll just dip into the bondage club fund. Money is money.

But remember: "IOKIYAR." Members of the Grand Old Party only in that thread.

But what's this have to do with ACORN, or how a private spends it's funds?

The common threads, I say, would be Republican lying and Republican corruption.
Just a guess.

You know, there really are some pretty bad Democrats. But I don't see them getting defended by their partisans nearly so much. But we don't have to assume it's because the Democrats are actually better. No, it's probably because they're too busy defending the President from charges of crypto-religious extremism, militant socialism, or trying to create death panels, concentration camps, and basically utterly destroy our way of life. Fraudsters? Throw them under the bus: We've got to protect the Manchurian Candidate.

I'm a Republican? AWESOME! Can you tell my family that? I really want to start be invited back to the adult table at Christmas dinner and end the snide comments about me being a college liburtard.

Sorry. But I *did* say there are some pretty bad Dems., too.

Overt hypocrisy never seems to matter to some?
