Add Religious Victory?

I've thought about it, but couldn't come up with victory conditions that make sense.

Now I think about it twice very similar proposition would be political victory. Like communist world revolution.

Most of them could just be copied from SoI. Chinese religion URVs could more science based. URVs would add a lot to the gameplay. Most of the code also exists already.

Code is not the problem, but most of SoI's religious goals aren't even applicable in DoC.

For example, it's weird for the Christian goals to be focused on the Middle East only. It's hard to come up with something that suits all civs that historically have the religion in question.

It is in fact the 3rd Russian UHC.
URVs are in fact in the game.

The spanish 3rd UHC is the christian URV.
The arabian 3rd UHC is the muslim URV.
The thibetan 3rd UHC is the budhist URV.
Indians are the only who would like to win a hindu URV.
Persians are the only who would like to win a zoroastrian URV.
Thaoism is out of question.

I propose:

Catholic URV:
*Build 3 catholic cathedrals by 1200AD.
*Spread catholicism to 65% by 1700AD.
*Make sure there are no protestant civs in the world in 1700AD.

Orthodox URV:
*Control Hagia Sophia, the Apostolic Palace, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and in 1000AD.
*No catholic civs in 1500AD.
*Make sure that orthodoxy is present in every european city, in Morocco, in Egypt, in Levant, in Ethiopia, in middle east, in India, in China, in Japan and in Americas by 1900AD.

Protestant URV:
*Make sure 60% of European cities have protestantism in 1700AD.
*Make sure that the first civ to discover Liberalism, Economics and Democracy is protestant.
*Spread protestantism in every city in North America by 1900AD.

Muslim URV:
*Every city in Africa and Asia, apart from Siberia, China and eastern than China, has only Islam by 1300AD.
*Make sure that there are over 40 islamic temples in the world by 1300AD.
*Make sure that 40% is muslim in 1300AD.

Budhist URV:
*Spread Budhism to every Asian city eastern than Lahore by 1200AD.
*Spread Budhism at 35% or more by 1500AD.
*Make sure there are over 15 budhist monasteries in the world by 1900AD.

Confucian URV:
*Make sure that a confucian civilization is the first to discover Printing Press.
*Make sure that Mongols are dead by 1500AD.
*Be the first in score by 1900AD.

It would be cool if we would be granted some sort of bonus from completing those unique religious goals, but to win from them I think would be absurd.

You are right, but I'll see what I can come up with.

snip

The URVs shouldn't be year based, so that all civs can achieve them. Take a look of SoI's URVs before suggesting more, please.

Yeah, suggestions are appreciated. I like the SoI format, which means:
- no deadlines
- should be achievable in cooperation with other civs of the same faith

Christianity:heal the schisms and create a union of god(a coalition of the 5 strongest states in the game. All have to be Christian and friendly.)

Islam: create a global caliphate

Zoroastrianism: house a sacred fire on every continent and use them to create a global fire

Buddhism: achieve global nirvana

alternatively you have a 'one size fits all' Prove God exists

It still doent make much sense. How can you argue that religion won game? Basically you have to convert whole planet or it doesnt make much sense and that is conquest victory.

URV suggestions:

Some religions have alternatives and few lack names.

Hinduism:
-The Golden Age: Have at least 24 turn Golden Age.
-Castes: Settle one type of every GP in the Hindu Holy city
-Have more than 500 million pop

Buddhism:
-Have friendly relatioship with at least three Buddhist States
-Build one Buddhist Stupa on every continent.
-Nirvana: Have no furious or annoyed relationship with any civ.

Zoroastrianism:
-Shahnameh: Control the Sassanid Empire
-Ahura Mazda: Be at peace for 100 turns
-Spread Zoroastrianism to 20% of world pop.

Confucianism:
-Humanism: Have friendly realtionship with at least five civs
-Harmony: Control Confucian and Tao Shrines and combine their profit to 40gpt
-The Five Classics: Settle five Great People in the Confucian Holy City.

Taoism:
-Make sure that at least two other civs have Taoism as state religion.
-Three treasures: Have at least three Great Wonders in the Tao Holy City.
-Immortality: Have legendary culture in the Tao Holy City.

Catholic:
-Crusade: Control the Jerusalem and Rome (Or make sure that the Catholic Holy City generates more than 200gpt)
-One Church: Vassalise three (or more?) civs with different religion
-One Faith: Spread Catholicism to 50% of world pop and ensure that Orthodoxy and Protestantism combine for less than 10%

Orthodox:
-Four Patriarchates: Build four Orthdodox cathedrals of which two have to be in Jerusalem, Alexandria, Constantinople or Antiochia (Sur).
-Holy Icons: Control all christian shrines and the Apostolic Palace
-First church: Ensure that there are no Catholic civs.

Protestantism:
-Religious freedom: Ensure that half of all civs are either Secular or run Protestantism
-Build 20 universities
-Enlightment: Be the first civ to finish the tech tree

Islam:
-Islamic dominance: Control five Shrines (Or have five vassals)
-Twelve imams: Settle twelve Great Prophets in cities under Islamic rule (Or settle one type of every GP in the Islamic Holy city)
-Jihad: Spread Islam to 50%

SoI's scope is one of extreme religious importance. DoC's focus is not so narrow, and therefore adding in Religious Victories makes little sense and probably would not blend well with gameplay.

It will add new aspects in the game enriching it. Winning a domination or conquest victory is really difficult due to the stability mechanism, so URV could be a good alternative.

So if the focus isn't narrow, how wouldn't the URVs blend in with everthing else? It offers a lot alternatives and replayability that is severely lacking on most of the weaker civs in DoC. Could you also specify how it wouldn't blend in the with the gameplay, otherwise it is a rather weak argument.

These all seem fun, creative, and doable to me.

Well I do like those URV goals but not idea. More like golden age of religion makes more sense.
