Advances chart revisited

Bump!

Maybe there is another thread more appropriate to this question, but here it is:

I have always thought the effects of happy-face-producing builings were cumulative. So I usually have a Temple, a Colliseum, and a Cathedral in my cities, especially when I am a democracy to keep people happy. Is this incorrect?

Correct.

So I usually have a Temple, a Colliseum, and a Cathedral in my cities, especially when I am a democracy to keep people happy. Is this incorrect?

Incorrect. Those three buildings convert unhappy to content. With all three plus the Temple's Mysticism bonus and discounting potential benefits from Michelangelo's Chapel, a city's discontented population would drop by 2 + 3 + 4 = 7.

The only structures that generate happy people on their own are Hanging Gardens and Cure for Cancer. Marketplace and Bank will (cumulatively) boost the effects of happiness due to luxury rates.

First of all: Thanks for this chart!

Finally I can throw away my handwritten chart that's barely readable anymore anyway :)

I never thought this chart would hit more than one thousand downloads. :crazyeye:

Real life won't let me play any CIV (1/5) for a while, but I'm going to check this thread now and then. :)
