AI AutoPlay 10 - Deity - Pick the Winning Leader!

Welcome back to the tenth game of the AI AutoPlay Deity - Pick the Winning Leader! competition.

In this game we have previous winner Willem van Oranje (game six) against previous runners-up Mao Zedong (game one), Hammurabi (game two), Hatshepsut (game three), Julius Caesar (game six) and Qin Shi Huang (game eight). Also two double-eliminated leaders are in this one: Alexander (games three and five) and Tokugawa (games two and six).

So, how will this turn out? We have one continent with five (West), one with four (East) and one with three (Middle) leaders, in addition to isolated Alexander in the South East...

Western Continent:
Mao Zedong, Qin Shi Huang, Ramesses II, Tokugawa & Willem van Oranje (5)

Middle Continent:
Cyrus, Hatshepsut & Julius Caesar (3)

Eastern Continent:
Hammurabi, Kublai Khan, Pacal II & Suryavarman II (4)

South East Island:
Alexander (1)

Two participants got the leader (Willem van Oranje) right. Both had Space as VC, so they are separated by a few years...

AI AutoPlay League of Leaders 10

A World's History
- the brief version -
(World #10)

Part One - Peace and Quiet
Spoiler Part One :

As always cities are founded early. The first leader to get his third city settled was Hammurabi (Dur-Kurigalzu at 3300 BC), while the last leader to reach three cities was Ramesses II (Pi-Ramesses 3000 BC).

EARLY RELIGION:
Willem van Oranje was the first one to found a religion, as he got Buddhism with Utrecht as a holy city in 3500 BC. He converted immediately. Three hundred years later, Pacal II founded Hinduism in Chichen Itza. He too converted into his own religion. In 2650 BC Hammurabi did found Judaism in Akkad. He actually adopted Organized Religion before converting to Judaism one turn later.

Ramesses II converted to Buddhism in 2450 BC. Kublai Khan found Judaism to be wisdom in 2275 BC, and in 1400 BC both Tokugawa (Buddhism) and Suryavarman II (Judaism) decided that a state religion was the way to go.

CIVICS:
Slavery was first introduced in Rome, by Julius Caesar in 3400 BC. Suryavarman II adopted the practice in 3225 BC, while Tokugawa became the third leader to enslave his own populace at 3000 BC.

As mentioned, Hammurabi adopted Organized Religion in 2625 BC. It took almost a thousand years before Ramesses II followed in his footsteps (1650 BC). Pacal II adopted the ideology at 1525 BC.

WONDERS:
Qin Shi Huang made his people proud by finishing Stonehenge in 2950 BC at Nanjing. Suryavarman II built The Great Wall around Yasodharapura in 2650 BC. Ramesses II put The Oracle in Memphis in 1625 BC.

A total of nineteen (19) Wonders of the World were constructed in the BC's. Eleven of which Ramesses II was responsible for. Willem van Oranje built three World Wonders before the end of the BC's. In AD 400 Ramesses II finished The Taj Mahal in Memphis. This was the world's first Golden Age initiated. It was also to be the very last World Wonder of Ramesses II's Egypt. Willem van Oranje finished his fourth (The Spiral Minaret) in 490 at Rotterdam. From this time forth, Netherlands was the only nation to construct a World Wonder. The last non-Dutch WW was built by Kublai Khan in 460, when he finished University of Sankore in Karakorum. The first, and last, World Wonder by Mongolia.

GREAT PEOPLE:
In 2750 BC something bizarre happened. Both Hatshepsut (Thebes) and Ramesses II (Heliopolis) did have a Great Prophet born unto their Egypts. Both Egyptian leaders had begun employing two Priests after having built an Obelisk at the very same moment in time. A second Great Prophet were born to Hatshepsut in Elephantine (1500 BC) before Julius Caesar got a Great General in 1275 BC because of the war-declaration he made on Hatshepsut. In 1150 BC, Yasodharapura saw a Great Spy emerge. Suryavarman II thus became the third leader to get a non-Great General great person born in his nation.

GOLDEN AGES:
In AD 400 Ramesses II got his first Golden Age after having finished The Taj Mahal. In 595 Willem van Oranje became the second leader to have a Golden Age in his nation. Tokugawa became the third in 1265.

INFLUENTIAL CITIES:
Already as early as AD 460 the cultural reputation of Memphis reached Influential, to give Ramesses II the honours of being the first leader to reach that milestone. In 1060 Willem's Utrecht also became influential. The third leader to have one of his cities reach that level was Tokugawa in Kyoto, 1355.

OTHER NEWS:
Suryavarman II completed The Pyramids in 1575 BC at Yasodharapura. He adopted Representation in 1550 BC. In AD 930 the Khmer leader was the first one to discover Liberalism. And in 1510 he founded Mining Inc. to become the first leader to control a corporation.

In AD 940 Alexander, who started in isolation, became the one to prove the world to be round after having circumnavigated the globe. He is also famous for being the first one to finish the Apollo Program in his nation (AD 1728), only two years before Willem completed his program.

Part Two - Declarations of War
Spoiler Part Two :

Despite a mid-19th century Space Race win for Willem van Oranje, there were a lot of wars being declared. Not so many seriously fought ones, though.

The first war was declared by Pacal II on Hammurabi in 1500 BC. Peace was signed in 470 BC. This was the longes war (1030 years) that ended with a peace treaty. The longest war was declared in 1325 BC by Julius Caesar on Hatshepsut. It lasted until the destruction of Egypt in 1080, lasting 2405 years.

The most disastrous war-declaration was Mao Zedong attacking Alexander in 1190. It lasted until 1834, when the Chinese civilization was destroyed. Alexander conquered four cities, and razed one, while Mao Zedong only managed to invade one Greek city.

The most successful campaign was the Dutch declaration on Japan in 1728. Sixteen cities and eighty-two (82) years later Tokugawa's Japan had been eradicated (1810).

Part Three - The Space Race Walk
Spoiler Part Three :

While the dates for the completion of the Apollo Programs may seem to indicate a close race between several nations for reaching Alpha Centauri, only Willem van Oranje made a decent attempt to construct his Spaceship.

He was beaten by Alexander (1728) by two years for the Apollo Program. However, during the 1700's the Dutch were the only nation to build Spaceship-parts. Rome (who were the last ones to finish Apollo Program in 1794) were first to SS Life Support in 1804. Khmer, Greece, Mongolia and Persia all got a SS Docking Bay. Alexander built a lot of Casings as well during the early-to-mid 1800's. However, it was all in vain, as Willem van Oranje reached Alpha Centauri in 1850. Long before anyone else was close to finishing their Spaceships.

The following leaders did eventually complete their own Apollo Programs:
1728 - Alexander, Greece
1730 - Willem van Oranje, Netherlands
1732 - Cyrus, Persia
1764 - Suryavarman II, Khmer
1780 - Kublai Khan, Mongolia
1794 - Julius Caesar, Rome

strongly backing sury on this one,im banking on a religious war between him and pacal early on in which sury wins with elephants and cats.I think WvO will be a target of Toku and could get attacked by ramasees as well..Jc will probably DOW on Hatchet.Thats my thinking so far,but will review it again at the end of the week.

Toku with UN win? No?

Think I'll go for Sury. Space is the most likely I guess, as with pure AI games it's basically down to space or culture. I'll go for Sury with a Space win in 1790AD.

Pacal's land looks pretty good. Lots of food, iron and horse nearby, and plenty of forests to chop. In my games, however, Pacal tends to wonderwhore/religion-hog and expand terribly, so I don't have much faith in him. If he gets past the early to mid game without sucking too much donkeynuts, he tends to do much better, but I'll stick my virtual bet on Sury.

Hello.

Thank you all for participating.

The deadline has now passed.

Winner(s) and Game Report will be up in about 22-24 hours...

EDIT: Winners revealed in post #1, Game Report posted in #2.

Yours Sincerely
Kjotleik of Norway :)

Impressive guess by Major Tom. Looks like my candidate Sury wasn't up to much good, judging by the maps, while Willem completely spanked the people on his continent and eventually won easily.

Thanks! Willelm is a good AI and this map seemed to be a runaway for him. Rames no threath warwise and would be put to rest when his culture annoys Willy. Isolationist Tokugawa would also be eliminated because of total opposite view of economics. Perhaps lucky with the chinese-greek war.

Egypt, so strong in the hands of a human, so weak for the AI.
