Wow, looking over our empire, it's like it's been forever since I was in charge! Our empire is in great shape now, with excellent production coming in from everywhere. The specs also rule.

So on the tech screen, it appears that Churchill doesn't have Constitution yet, while Washington already does. Very interesting. He isn't giving up rifling unless we surrender Astro, which we want to hang onto for a while. So I take what he gives us for Constitution.

Versailles and the Minaret are both up. Neither are particularly pressing though. Probably best to dump Versailles on the Aztec penninsula. Doesn't look like it's being built, because Churchill had no problem selling it.

Nothing much else happening, so let's optimize the cities!

Delhi working maxed hammers for Oxford in 6. That is fine, as the faster it gets up, the sooner we get our 100% bonus to all those super specs!

Bombay looks good, other than being stagnant, but I recall the wheat being poached by Madras, so that's fine... Move the spy to a merchant though, as we have a bank in this place.

Vijay, still growing, about to hit a health cap but the duct will fix that. It needs lumbermills, but looks good otherwise.

Pata has a large cap available, so work the farms to grow faster.

Vara just needs buildings now, as it has good land to work. I do fire a scientist for a spy though.

Agra is in similarly good shape as Vara.

Calcutta also only needs more buildings, which will happen quickly once the FP is done.

Lahore running a merchant spec with no gold multiplying buildings. He gets fired for another spy. Otherwise, looking good.

Madras is fine. It will develop slowly, and therefore be holding up Bombay's wheat, but it'll be worth it eventually.

Banglore is surprisingly robust for such a junk city. Will have to check back here to fire the scientist for a spy when the happytime jail is done :p.

Teno has way too much food, so going to have to sort that out in a few turns. This is a Globe city for sure though.

Hyderabad coming along nicely, no complaints.

Madurai needs a bit of work both in buildings and in terrain. Slow down growth for more hammers by working the forested plains hill.

Ahmedabad needs a workboat after the courthouse before we can do anything with it.

Tlat is hilarious with 49 turns on Maoi. That's actually tragically bad. Put in a forge and fire the specs for generic citizen specs. 15 turns for a forge, and hirable engineers. May want to do a temple too for a hirable priest...

Kolhapur sadly doesn't get an SoL spec. I guess it's "SoL" in another way :p. Lighthouse in 7, needs various things...

Finally done looking at stuff this turn...

1690AD (248):

England asks for Astro. I say no, we take a minor rep hit. Still pleased.

Washington wants to swap world maps. Don't see a need to do that, and it'll lag my comp as the map updates.

Churchill finishes the Kong Miao (or whatever the Confusion special building is). Suleiman gets a GA, probably burned his Prophet on that. And Caesar adopts Caste.

Agra's colosseum is done, but health is the problem here, not happy. I dial up an observatory because it is cheap. We will be building units here (HE city).

Teno done the happytime jail. Dialing up a forge in 8 turns, to help with building the Globe. City grows again next turn... so problematic.

Ahmedabad is done the lighthouse, dial a workboat.

Wow, so it took me an hour to play two turns, and now I have to run off again... Ok, saving the game...

Chem comes in, and Steel is a cheap 6 turns to the Industrial Era.

Ok, so the joker dropped one maceman in the forest... Ok...

In the inturn, the mace sallies against our mace in Pata and dies... Ok... He has no other troops.

Vara barracks is done, and it looks like the panic attack was for no reason. Vara is pimped out with workshops though, so no loss. Dial a colosseum, as we are at happy cap.

Sulei drops off a pike and more cats... He doesn't attack...

Oxford done in Delhi, so all the scientists are back. Also queue up a pike in 2.

Draft another musket at Pata...

Crossbow done at Vijay, you can guess where he's going. Dial a Musket.

Calcutta harbor done, training a privateer.

Ahmedabad's workboat is done and fish are netted, so dial a Granary.

Kolh's lighthouse done, go for a granary.

1720AD (254):

Crossbow one in Pata, dial for walls. Sulei called in more troops. He also completed the Minaret this turn.

The garrison in Pata will hopefully hold now. We can't really attack him while he's in the forest (except with Timur, and he's coming).

1725AD (255):

Sulei's golden age is done, and he finished it by colliding units against Pata. We lost 3 units there, and he lost several catapults.

Meanwhile we had a forest growth near Vijay onto a grassland. Yay.

Timur and company arrive in Pata to relieve the battered garrison.

A pike finished in Delhi and headed straight for Pata. We dial an observatory.

Bombay finishes a knight, starts a privateer.

Vara colosseum is done, go for a duct.

Agra observatory is finished. Seems I didn't catch the switch back. Ok, dial a knight.

Churchill finishing Demo in 1, so take his map and 120 gold for it. Get the same from Washington, as there is little point keeping it from him.

1730AD (256):

We're in the industrial era with the discovery of Steel. Steam is in 5, so dial that up.

Sulei dropped off even more troops... Great...

Musket done in Vijay, order a cannon.

Banglore Granary -> Harbor

Forge in Teno -> Globe in 17 turns. Notice that someone switched to emanci... Must've been Churchill.

1735AD (257):

Sulei sallies 3 units against Pata, and they all die.

Ok, so Timur steps up and owns a Knight.
Our shock uber mace kills one of their maces.
I send a mace to try and kill the enemy knight and he fails.
A second mace also dies to the enemy knight, damnit.
Ok, a pikeman is up now, and he stays up if I select a maceman, so he gets eaten.
Cat up next, to be slapped silly by a mace.

We get Sargon the GG in Agra.

Another Cat gets owned by our mace.
A crossbow then kills a Pikeman, presumably because the cats were too chicken.
Nevermind, a cat is up now and also dies to a crossbow.
It's now our knight vs the enemy knight, and we win, damaging the two remaining cats.
The pike mops up one of the cats.
The last cat is killed by our drafted musketman.

Sulei invaders are dead, he still won't talk. And we have to rebuild the lumbermill because he pillaged it!

Calcutta finished the privateer, and is pissed because of emanci... Dial a colosseum.

Pata finally finished the happytime jail. Plenty of health, but I damaged the happy through drafting heh. Dial a drydock.

Agra knight done, dial a cannon!


Ok, so still did not acquire rifling, as the AIs wanted something ridiculous for it. It would've helped for sure. Seeing as we can research it in a mere 4 turns, not a huge issue for us.

Timur earned Medic 2 for next turn, go super medic! I think we will also have a pair of Bigmen (two maces with CR2 earned a promo). Should also name the Combat 3/Shock Mace. That guy rocks! Slap pinch on him later and the enemy will feel the pain!

We are in Nationhood right now, and can switch back to buera if we want... I don't think it's worth it, as it is high in upkeep, and there is not really anything pressing to be done in the capital. The espionage boost also really helps, as we have an edge on everyone at 0% espionage, thereby causing them to redirect their slider into espionage in an attempt to counter, which hurts their tech rate (see Churchill). Cheap barracks for happy is also a good offset for emanci.

I also clearly :smoke:ed and was not watching Tlat during the invasion, as it now has 2 pissed off people. The forge will help a bit. Stupid emanci...

GP due in the capital next turn, 60% chance of scientist. 220% extra research in the capital, for 28.8 beakers from a super spec. Observatory in 4 to up that to 245% and 31.05 beakers. Considering the next bulbed tech is Sci Method, settling seems to be the way to go. If we get anything else but an Engineer, we should probably bulb. An engineer is obviously to be saved for rushing (Pentagon anyone?). Or the insanely evil Cristo Redentor. Take your pick :p.

With the great general I honestly think the best use would be to research military tradition and place an acad in agra.

For the SOL that's 14 towns (am not counting kol) with a free spec. Under rep, that's a raw 42 beakers period nevermind whatever goodies each spec brings to the table..

As you said silver, the empire is a complete overhaul from where it was just 3 turn sets ago. Unearthing the dots from all that jungle really sped crap up such that all these mid game techs like chemistry and steel are just cruising past.

Anyway we'll want cristo... 2x speed for spiritual civs yes? but to do so raido is off scientific. I honestly don;t think it's too wise to hold off on scientific too much longer.

Steam is good, going to add rifling since suiman is being a jerk then a 'fast' railroad prolly haha.

Good luck with the game guys. Leaving on the flight tonight, so I'll be able to play again next Tuesday or Wednesday (I'll run in here and announce my return). Might have a limited internet connection to chime in on the game.

EDIT: Possible thoughts about the GG. Pata is our only port city of note on the West Coast. Currently putting a drydock in there, because green ships are just terrible. Might want to settle the GG there or make an academy there, as the city is fairly solid due to all the land tiles.

A rail line is sorely needed running East to West down the centre of our continent. At least from Vijay, to Agra, to Pata. Preferably, there will be one from Bombay going through Madras to Agra too. Obviously we want rails everywhere, and especially on the mines and lumbermills, but a quick transit network is sorely needed.

Can prolly nail both nottingham london and hastings with one blockade as seen, play around with it. Seems it effects up to visibility range and leave them in coastal areas for the free defence.

This will really eff with england btw.

Mass dumping privateers in from bombay so if we lose 3 or 5 who cares? lol I promote them all combat and medic as england is bouncing caverals off like silly. Feel free to stack a few privateers in those blockade spots once you run out of nets to thrash.

tech path is well hmm

I set research to militarty science in 3... when it's done blow that GG on an academy in agra and let it's spy center finish.. after that start spamming chain MG's and shuttling them off to every town, aiming for 2x mg's per town with all obsolete units destroyed once replaced fully. it looks like Agra will be spitting 2 MG's out in 3 turns though with railines might be faster...

MG's own in 3.17 btw no tank barrage and they have 20% intercept.

Keep any City raid promotions as they will get upgraded. Agras MG's will all be 5 exp units such that no use upgrading any city garrison units.
we need a modern defence so get to that right away hehe, liq stalled for railroads!

Combustion is the least useful for us currently as it rely's on oil. That's the tech just before scientific method.
Corp is fast and easy and worth 28+ commerce just for the extra trade route prolly, also req for Assembly line. In addition, wall street opens up and we need to plunk that down in uh... magic 8 ball says : Hyderabad.. liq smoked and plunked a dry dock down hehe... privateer fever. Concentrate on cash buildings in hydra then feel free to push off dry dock.
Military tradition lets us build West point in Agra BUT.... we can stall on that as it's gonna be pumping out masss machineguns and all they need is 5 exp (baracks + settled GG). promote to drill 2.
Assembly line is for infantry and factories and the vaunted pentagon world wonder.... we want to bee line this puppy and then hopefully chill building pentagon by then, don;t want to waste the great engineer on it. Once infantry are in have agra pop infantry 1 per town and promote them city garrison 2 mixing builds with MG's
Fascism after assembly line is a win as it nets us a peacetime great general (academy in in the best hammer coastal town... bombay wins) allows police state and rushmore.. 5 turn tech, a no brainer.

So modified tech path to keep that phart going at a sustainable science rate....

Military Science(3)-> Corporation(easy 3)-> Assembly Line (8)-> Fascism (5)

So after we have enough privateers, slot Iron works into bombay, it will also get red cross later. If it finishes around the time we can build the pentagon, bombay would work else whoever has the hammers free.

As for railroads... put 3/4ths of the workforce on railing lumbermills and mines while a few do GOTOS from city to city. A good path is to start all gotos from agra then radiate outwards to the west first

Let the workers finish the lumber mills haha. Don;t forget the island town needs a rail on that lumbermill as well.

We are now officially teching much faster than england et. al. they know this and are demanding far too much for simple trades so well eff em.

Save the engineer for post scientific method wonders. we'll be playing catch up there and there's some really nice kit off radio etc.

pirate fun is a blast... it's like it's own little private war rofl.

All those hapless caveral scouts and all going BOOM. Siuman has an alarming number of galleons btw holed up on one of his towns. Can see them since we can look into all his towns. Dangerously backwards, once we get oil going should just steamroll him.

as for needing a port on the west, patty is ok as is. Bombay is more central (england is to the east) such that pimping them as a shipyard is the better deal.

Getting agra hooked on a military academy is common sense. That town is going single handedly garrison the continent then onto pushing perma tanks.

a quick run down of exp..

land gets from barracks+3
water gets +4 from dry dock (and +50% hammers)

so with pentagon being +2
West point is +4
settled GG is +2
random civic is +2

Agra is 3(barracks)+2(settled gg)+4(West Point) +2(pentagon)= 11 exp for 3 promotions out of the gate. that's cr3 tanks.

Bombay would be 4 (dry dock) +2 pentagon for 6. Really want 10 exp transports to get their movement maxed so to make up for it, might want to swap partial build x number of transports then swap to theology + vassalage and blitz out 1 turn ships for 5 to 10 turns. each embedded gg means one less civic required. If we steamroll suiman shouldn;t be too hard to pop one or two.

hmm thinking about it, might want to embed that free fascism GG to bombay as transports are only 125 hammers. that means only needed to swap to vassalage for the magic 7+1 move transports. Much more flexible as we can stay in our preferred religious civic.

As for the great engineer. Might consider founding mining inc in hydra as we have 2 coal 1 copper 4 iron for 7 resources total with aluminum only adding to it.. not sure how many hammers that eqates into tho forcing a great merchant just to found sids sushi is a shoo in with the 14 odd fishies/rice we have. :eek:

I think best odds for a merchant is by assigning 6 merchants into monty's old capital stagnating growth so it can work on health buildings hehe.

oh as for the blockade, one north of the spot I marked (that little cubby one east of oxford) is perfect coverage. Expect to lose a ton of privateers btw... Just keep plugging haha.

great turns and yeah liq had the golden age of privateers... good thing we can pump out more to cover the losses!!!

A few things..

Think about slotting a dry dock into all coastal towns as it's really the bomb for exp and hammers. Too easy to build a ship there and forget it.

Mining inc is nice btw and plunking it into hydra was the plan... now need to blitz all $$ buildings in hydra (banks wall street) after giving a hammer house (like delhi) an exec.

Having delhi spam the execs while hydra builds the banks :D Not sure if merc prohibits us from spreading mining to other country, would be a ton of cash.

Report is fine and really is a personal style thing.

In general when attaching labels to techs add a turn count.

Military tradition in --> corporation in 2 turns
as opposed to
corporation is in (forgot to take a screenie) choose military science as we need that for a military academy

oh a few MM things... Bombay can work a workshop instead of that desert mine... food is odd but it's another hammer.

Get a 5ish turn exec out of hydra after that forge finishes and give him to dehli.. then have delhi spam the living crap out of said execs, agra and bombay first, hammer poor towns like tlat after.

hydra then needs Bank -> market -> grocer -> Wall street. Have it run all merchants. All that is gonna take a while so move onto max hammers if possible, saccing some cottage growth to push the infra out faster.

have techno run all merchants as well can load up on 6 of them np. We need great people other than scientists now hehe

as for the great scientist.... hold him for 2 turns and see what delhi pops... 2/3 it's another scientist but maybe can get a golden age going with a rare artist.

Also delhi can safely work a farmed fp for more growth... not sure how to finagle that. Rememebr, delhi is going to be a mining inc exec pump.
