this is not a technical bug, but a major mistake in the game.

when you have the holy city of islam, and you use a great prophet to construct the world wonder 'al masjid al haram', you discover that the shape of the structure built has no relevance to the real one, but instead resembles the famous 'masjid kobbat al sakhra' aka 'the mosque of the dome of rock'

the masjid al haram, which holds the 'kaabah' inside it, is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, while the dome of rock is in Jerusalim, Israel.

the structure in the game looks like this

the real masjid al haram (from the exterior)

the dome of rock in Jerusalim

here also are some links for more info about the two great mosques

these are about al masjid al haram

and this for the dome of rock (pics only)

and for info on the dome of rock, there is a fine pdf file

i hope this mistake is corrected, so as for the game to be more perfect than it already is :)

waitin to recieve ur comments...
(i edited this post when i discovered i could remove the smiley associating the title; it originally said that i did not mean to put it. i hope editing this doesnt break sum rule..!)

I think that it is because that is what most people think of when they think of a famous Islamic temple/wonder, but "The Dome of the Rock" doesn't seem all that Islamic. Yes it might be a mistake, but it isn't as important as some of the others that people have been complaining about (ie Crash to desktops) that actually influence how people are able to play the game.

first thanx for responding

and second, with all due respect, i DO think its a major mistake. i know, this is a place where i'm supposed to post bugs mainly concerning gameplay and tech support issues, but i found no other place where i could report such error.

third, i want to explain why this is an important mistake. you see, 'masjid al haram', like any other significant religious symbols, is of an un-manipulatable (dunnow if such word exists anyway!) figure. this gives wrong information about the religion, especially with a world famous, if not the most famous ever, game, meaning people from all over the world would be getting the wrong info.

and fourth, if u look at it from the other way round, i dont think it would harm to repair such mistake. i dunnow how hard it is to fix sum shape (though i think it isnt that hard), but it would surely add to the game if everything was correct; as it would lessen its value if it contains such errors.

again thnx for ur concern

"The Dome of the Rock" may not seem Islamic, but it has a name in arabic too. (See the original post.) Palestinians don't just break into english when talking about the dome of the rock.

necro_orininal: This has bugged me too. I'd like to see the picture match the name. I'd assume it was done on purpose because the dome of the rock is more recognizable, because of the israel/palestine conflict and all. Still, it is bad that people who recognize a picture of the dome of the rock but don't recognize the name "al masjid al haram," will now associate them with eachother because of the game.

Anyways, I wouldn't count on it being changed.

it's true lost_civantares. the original name of the mosque is 'masjid kobbat al sakhra', and the 'dome of rock' is just the english translation for the word. exactly like 'al masjid al haram', which can be translated into 'the sacred mosque'.

and Monker, actually i tend to think its an unintentioned mistake, and i'm sure the game creators would fix it very soon. what makes me say that is that in the civilopedia, when they talked about religions, they said the game doesnt favor a certain religion, they respect them all, and that game-wise, all of them are equal; so it isnt fair that other religions have the right figures for their religious symbols while islam does not, and it doesnt show respect for the islamic religion either...
