Credible intelligence from multiple sources indicates al-Qaeda is planning an attack on America in the coming months, US security chiefs have warned.

Attorney General John Ashcroft told a news conference that information showed al-Qaeda's specific intention was "to hit the United States hard".

Mr Ashcroft also named seven people who he said presented a clear danger.

He listed future events that could be targets; however, the US has not yet raised the current threat level.

Everyone to the nearest bomb shelter!

Seriously though, these guys (the government and the media) need to stop instilling fear into the minds of Americans. Sure, bad stuff is going to happen, but we can't let our lives be driven by fear.

More vagueness.

"Someone, somewhere may strike something at some time with some method. Be afraid."

I wonder how many people even pay attention to these things anymore. At least they didn't play around with the Traffic Light of Terror this time.

Ummm, hasn't al-Qaeda been plotting against the U.S. ever since it was founded, I mean, what else do they do?
Nothing, but now they plot even harder! So be careful and forget Abu Ghraib!

Oh, man....you missed al-Qaeda's "Ladies' Night" event.

Yeah, I heard it was pretty wild, as I'm told for a brief minute a portion of a woman's naked forearm was exposed!

It's very important for everyone to be afraid, so the current administration can continue to have us fund their sprint towards a military state. Ashcroft is a fool. Fortunately for him (and Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld), most people have no idea what "real" security is. People are very susceptible to manipulation when their fear emotions are played with. And unfortunately, it's not just the uneducated or foolish - it's most people everywhere.

Anyone who uses fear and threats to push an agenda obviously has their own best interests in mind. Best not to trust them, at all. If you do we might start a war on terrorism which does nothing to improve national security, and only accelerates the creation of many new terrorists. Oh wait, we did. But we don't have to fall for that line of BS again, right?

Yankee, Perfection, all other Americans...

Mr Mueller said 4 July celebrations, the Democratic and Republican party conventions, and the presidential elections in November could be at risk.

They also released the names and photographs of seven suspects, including one woman, who could be part of a plot and asked for the public's help in tracking them down.

So when the CIA asks you for help, you shrug it off as a joke and to be avoided because it interferes with your daily plans.

Some pride you have in your country!

You have to undersand that before 9/11 they were running a paramilitary operation, from a well coordinated para-military center of command transparently funded from Iraq, and did not represent a threat warranting investigation. They didn't plan 9/11, it was simply a self presenting opportunistic moment. Since ousting Al Queda, they have become a serious, disorganized, commandless, scattered fighting force, with a complex unlocatable financial infrastructure. More dangerous now than ever before.

Bad things will happen if no one takes them seriously this time.. next time.. last time.. uhm... let me start from the beginning... Good morning ladies and gentlemen. My name is Donald Rumsfeld. I am your well organized, intelligible, no hidden agenda, tell it as it is, shoot from the hip, Secretary of Defence. :D

Do you realize how many times we've been through all this, stormbind!? Plus the fact that we won't get Orange on the Traffic Light sounds.....weird.

Besides, here, in New York City, we're always at Orange, it hasn't budged one way or the other since the Traffic Light was introduced.

Who cares about the traffic light?

Apparently, that light is supposed to guide us over how vigilant and all that we should be. It also requires localities to pour more money into security expenditures if that light is raised from Yellow to Tangerine to Orange.

Anyway, do you really think that I would sit back and do nothing if I saw something suspicious or had knowledge that something was going to go down? Please....

I never said that those names on a list were a joke, nor did I say that the CIA seeking them out was a joke. I was merely pointing out Al-Queda is dedicated to plotting terrorist activities so the idea that they are plutting against us isn't very surprising!
