Don't do it man! Get some help, call a helpline or something, don't unbirthday yourself :grouphug:. The expansion will come, just give it a little time!
I think he was referring to the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland where he celebrates his "Unbirthday" (Not-birthday) every day it's not his birthday, and then celebrates his birthday when it's his actual birthday, so every day is a celebration.

I think he was making a play on words joke, albeit a dark one.

Personally, I have over 10 different games I play regularly installed on my computer right now, so I don't have to hang and wither on the vine when one of them doesn't get updated in a timely fashion (in fact, several of the games I play are older ones and NOT getting anymore updates). I suggest diversifying rather than sitting around here fretting.

I should note that my comment was an amusing (for me at least), play on reusing someone else's comment in response to them.

I don't think anyone was legitimately fretting, but rather having a laugh. Don't get all up on your high horse.

I should note I haven't actually played Civ VI in months.

That doesn't stop me from being active in this thread.

If I don't have a high horse, I only have a broken down mule...

Same, this forum is one of my 'bored at work' activities: 90% of my computer gaming is during the cold half of the year.

Sounds superficially quippy, makes no actual sense. Are you a D-level sitcom writer by trade? I do wonder why you are spending your time on a civ update watch thread on a civ-focused gaming forum complaining about people discussing potential updates. Don't you have like 10 other games to be playing?

No, I was just sick of a whole week of typical Internet retorts than ran the gamut was clever to sort-of-erudite to might-have-a-point-but missed-it to reasonable to brainwashed to stupid to almost everything I said in a very active period of debate in various areas of endeavour that my wit had become exhausted and that lame, limp, pathetic response was all that could be mustered. :P

Fair enough. But I don’t want to invest time and money into more video games. Maybe if Civ doesn’t sort itself out I’ll try something else.

Video games aren’t a big part of my life, and I’d like to keep it that way.

Ditto.

I haven't played since mid-August. Dead Cells kept me busy in August, Dragon Quest XI & Destiny 2 from September until now and Red Dead Redemption 2 will keep me busy come October 26th.

However i'm keeping an eye out for an expansion announcement or fall 2018 patch. I'll definitely jump back in to VI when the next patch comes out.

Civ is awesome :)

What are your chances of an announcement coming out today from firaxis?

Personally I think very low like 1%. 1 year after the Rise & Fall announcement (November 28, 2017) is much more likely.

Low, especially as there's been no activity on the smoke branch since the flurry over the weekend. (I'm going back to my hypothesis that some intern was just finishing up their part of a project, but we won't know what that project was for a while.)

I'd give as high as 20% chance that we'll hear something (but not necessarily the next expansion) on or before the two year anniversary later this month.

Dunno. This still feel like the warm-up phase to me.
