All Quiet on the Civ Front

Rise & Fall was released February 8th, not March 8th.
I appended today this last line to my 'dates' table. Based on my Patch log file.

I goofed & mixed up 'February 2018 Base Game Patch' and 'March 2018 R&F Update Patch'.

Thank you for catching this.

I think it's a little too early to expect an expansion announcement. I feel like the activity we're seeing is indicative of either a patch or a DLC.

I hope we get a patch or DLC for now and an expansion later. A DLC would make the most sense, maybe something that could also be released on Switch to generate more hype. March seems too far away ;)

2kqa_a was updated.

Strangeness: 2kqa_c was the next one in the sequence, but they skipped it. Since c was only introduced into the sequence last week, and updated twice in a row, it may represent some kind of offshoot or parallel development.

That was fast! When I saw that the update was just 7 minutes ago, I was sure I'd be first. :p

Have we reached any consensus on which Civ is most likely to get a second leader?

The ones I’ve heard bandied around are Egypt, France, China, England, Rome, Russia, America and Germany.

(Not counting Spain’s possible Isabella.)

Yeah, I haven't been watching as closely as I used to, but I lucked out and caught this one within a minute.

Although Persia is a DLC Civ, so it's unlikely, I'd like to see a non-Achaemenid leader. Some Sassanid, or Nader Shah, for example.

Always cracks me up.

(EDIT: How do you get it to play just 44 seconds onward? When I post it raw it removes the t=44 and just plays from the start)

Rise & Fall was released February 8th, not March 8th.
Announced November 28th.
If this pattern is a thing we should expect a new expansion announcement around December 11th or December 18th (both Tuesdays)
My birthday is December 11, but I'd rather have the announcement sooner than that. Maybe they could have an awesome First Look on my birthday instead. :p

How about the AD 1500 DLC pack featuring the Ottomans, Incas and Portugal, plus a new scenario.

Can you conquer the New World before the Turks conquer the Old World?
Where's my Maya!? I'm not too fond of that specific scenario, for personal reasons. I never did manage to win the Civ5 one, and was always annoyed at the bizarre looking Americas.

Give me boudicca, joan d’arc and Augustus and firaxis could sell it as an expansion.
Why Jeanne d'Arc, might I ask? ;)

Personally, now that arguing Norway's case is no longer needed, I find myself instead arguing the case of the Sámi, but I'm not sure I expect them for this mystery expansion/DLC, or even this game. Certainly not expecting them above fan favourites like the Ottomans, Byzantium or Portugal. All I can do is hope.
Do the Sami have notable historical leaders? If Firaxis was based in Scandinavia, maybe they would have chance of getting in, but they seem unlikely.

I'll take an alt leader for any of those countries except for America. I'm saying this as an American citizen. :D

There are notable candidates in terms of Sámi history, I feel, but there has never been anyone who led all of the Sámi people. But then again, we do have Gandhi, who never led India.
Best choice, in my opinion, would be Elsa Laula Renberg, a very active and important Sámi activist during her time, who chaired the first Sámi assembly, founded the first Sámi association and argued tirelessly for Sámi rights, during a time in which the Sámi languages were banned in schools, Norwegian authorities were actively trying to Norwegianise "their" Sámi, and Sámi women in Sweden were sterilised by the "state institute for racial biology."

Just a love for this time period. I’ve been watching the tudors, the borgias and recently the vikings. (I know the big differences in ages) Read 4 medieval books in last 6 months.

Playing civilisation for me has a big impact. I relieve the stories been told and create my own while playing the game. Say while watching the vikings. I’m heavely into building galleys/longships and explore the oceans. Or play france and plan to attack with longswordsman and bombards.

I’ve yet to read a book about joan d’arc do i have recently watched an old movie about her from my recycling centre nearby.

Wow! I'm surprised forced sterilization was practiced in Norway at one point. I was used a lot back in the early 1900s in America when eugenics was popular....:(

Since everyone is mentioning their birthday, mines is May 9....I wouldn't want the 2nd expansion to come out that late.

Where's my Maya!?

I deliberately left the Maya out, because they’re one of the ones I really want, along with Babylon, Carthage, Byzantium and the Celts (Gaul).

I figure the more I like a given civ, the less likely we are to get it this time. :(

Just my (extremely bad) luck.

I really want the Inca too! Mapuche isn't enough to represent pre-Columbian South America. :D

I don't think there was much forced sterilization of sámi people in Norway, and I couldn't really find any information about that when searching now. The Norwegian government did, however, sterilize a lot of romani people, which is truly shameful. (In addition to criminals.)

The sámi culture was however severely damged by forced Norwrgianization, and Norway struggles today to make sure that the sámi languages and cultures survive, partly because of what we did up to the last half of the 1900s. There are so many stories about sámi people who have struggled with their lives because of the oppression they were put through. It's a big stain on Norway's history.
