The people that want a Master of Orion 4 might take a look at Galactic Civilization 2 which is being made by Stardock right now. I loved Galciv 1, and 2 looks like its gonna be pretty sweet.

There was some talk a little while ago about Stardock buying the liscense for Master of Magic. They have already announced that they will be making a fantasy turn-based game next, its just in question whether or not it will officially be "MOM 2".

Definately want Sid to redo colonization. Along with Civilization was the best game that got me into the whole sid meier collection (along with covert action) when these were done under microprose.

Seeing he has redone pirates would be nice to seeing colonization (and maybe covert action) given a lick of pixelated paint and released for a new (or old) generation.

Gotta go with MOO4 (let us not speak of the stillborn child MOO3). MOO2 ship design was the bonus fun part. Finding the perfect balance between the various offensive abilities (beams? missiles? fighters? boarding parties?) and defensive abilities (armor? shields? anti-missile weapons? jamming?), considering who/what you were most likely to use the ship against (as each type of enemy had its own strengths and weaknesses), and then cramming your designs into fixed hull-sizes without breaking your empire's budget brought a great aspect to an otherwise enjoyable TBS space game. With customizable races (well liked? productive? creative? lucky? omnipotent?) it led to nearly endless replay possibilities, i.e. - well now, that worked O.K., but I know what I'll try next time!

Whatever you approach was, the game could accommodate your style(s). A MOO4 with current graphics and a state of the art AI would be a hit. :D

It would be a bad buisness decision for sid to let Civ 4 be so modable as to pracricly make a new game, so probably no go, but than again we haven't seen it yet.

I disagree. Have you seen any of the mods that are being created using such engines as the Unreal engine? People have been creating games that are NOTHING like the original. Given the level of modability we have been promised, we will be able to make games wayyy different than Civ.

Colonization for me.

SMAC was really good aswell and started new concepts that were later put into the civ franchise. But Colonization still edges it.

I think these polls and opinions prove that great gameplay should be foremost in developers minds.

I still play Colonization and long for an updated version, however I think CivIV will take up my next couple of years so I have time to wait.

Alpha Centauri all the way. If it wasn't for SMAC I wouldn't be looking forward to Civ IV. :crazyeye:   :goodjob:

I found Alpha Centauri rather boring. Not interested.
Colonization is still an awesome game! So I would love to see a sequal.
I don't know Master of Magic.
The screwed up with MOO3, so they'd better mend their ways with MOO4!

Wow - SMAC winning so far!

I liked the unit design screen, especially when you get to build units that need no support.

I'd love to see an updated Alpha Centauri .. it is still a great game but is showing its age, between the ugly graphics, clunky interface and necessary micro-management (ie. unit support per city, not per empire).

SMAC II.

Note that a lot of the changes for Civ IV are from SMAC. The entire civics system is lifted entirely (not that I'm complaining, mind you). The UN is also reminiscent of the council. And while it's not a perfect fit, the advanced, sliding hit point scale is similar to SMAC's reactor upgrade, which also let advanced units demolish hordes of obsolete ones.

A remake of Master of Magic - if someone could make a BALANCED version, unlike the horribly broken original game! - would be fun to play. I'd also like to see a real remake of Master of Orion, but given the horrendous pile of doodoo that was Master of Orion 3, I think that franchise has been effectively killed off now.

Master of Orion would be revived if they made a good game. That's the only one on the list I voted for. The words "Master of Magic" and "balanced" are mutually exclusive. And I never played Colonization or SMAC. My Civ1 burnout phase lasted a -long- time!

I gotta go with Colonization II. SMAC is too new of a game, and honestly too perfect. I'd be scared if they messed with it.

Plus with new technology and plenty more experience at making games, Colonization II could be incredibly awesome.

Heres an Idea - Civ4 goes until you get to the Space Race victory - SMAC should be able to be done as an expansion - it then takes your civ4 end-game determines 2-4 civs that make it to the space age - then splinters those factions into the SMAC factions... then that game starts :) I don't think SMAC needs to be its own game... as an expansion to Civ would be better.
