Don't know if I posted this here before, but what the hell:

Poor Italy, not even the commies want them.

:(

hehe, we would have hid in the mountains and let them go on to bavaria.

(except for those unfortunate creatures who would have been left behind at the border to slow them down by 10 or 20 minutes.)

Hell yeah, 55 tactical nuclear strikes right on my head, followed by everything that might result from living exactly "on" arrow number 3. That would´ve been quite a party !
Seventy-five to a hundred on mine. Woo "Americans defending the Fulda Gap aka my dad with the combat engineers attached to the Third Armored 'Spearhead' Division's armored cav units". They were the speedbump for the speedbump. :nuke:

The path set by arrow 3 is in fact quite a good one. Right through the north German plains. No mountains, very flat terrain, ideal for looong columns of tanks to make a quick advance. Or did you think of something else?

Yes, it's good if you DON'T nuke the area before.

Arrows 3 and 2A are completly ******.
Sorry for the doublepost, but not really. Arrow 2A would mostly be linking up with Soviet paratroopers (I think most of what they had would be hitting Denmark at that juncture), and would serve the purpose of opening the Great Belt to the Baltic Fleet. Arrow 3 has mostly nice, open plains to go through, the Ruhr to occupy and destroy, and then bang on into France. Sure, the rivers would have been obstacles, but everybody in NORTHAG knew that the ground was piss-poor for an Allied defense of the Great Northern European Plain anyway. :p

EDIT: Apparently not a doublepost. Go me!

Thats weird, our resident military 'expert' has always told me if this had kicked off it wouldnt neccesarily gone nuclear form the start... seems as usual some people think they know a lot more than they know;)

Interesting map BTW Winner. whered you get it?

wasnt soviet doctrine explicitely: "if you have a gun you wont attack a guy with a knife and give him a chance" or something along those lines?

the soldiers wont die before they have taken europe. what's wrong with that plan? :mischief:
Exactly. Fallout and danger to health wasn't going to be that much of a problem in the immediate aftermath of the explosions.

Yes, the 'axe theory'. Probably the most legit thing in Suvorov/Rezun's books. Makes sense. Suvorov famously compared American fighting to a brawl in a cowboy Western saloon, and noted its silliness.

Did anyone else notice, that the "North Hessian" nuclear targeting area isn't really in Hesse on that map, but in northern Bavaria, maybe barely touching southern Hesse?

I guess the map maker messed up that one, as the Soviets probably wanted to soften up the Fulda gap in northern Hesse with those strikes.

Yeah, it's a mislabel. We Franconians were gonna get vaporized. :(
