Tell me if there is anything althistorical in that map.
if you dont like it, get a moderator to take it out of the thread- I'm not.

Actually, no. The "Balkanization" is a rather erroneous term. There were many large states there, in 1914 there were only three Balkan Slavic states. Yugoslavia was broken up because of neonationalism and the aftershock after the fall of USSR.
the aftershock of the USSR I can see; but "neonationalisM" implies that thier were cultural differences ot begin with, that were masked for a time, by the USSR beign in control fo everything

Geographic difference causes cultural difference, Xen.
did I say they didnt?

I think that this situation will not last for long - two or three centuries, but eventually I think it would be restored unless aliens or some such are interferring to keep China disunited. We need a geographic difference or another pole of culture nearby. See Hussites - they had many strong leaders, from Zhizhka to Ambrozh, who succesfully fought back numerous crusades, yet in a century or so Bohemia was still held by a Catholic German nation - exactly what they fought against.
whatever the reason, i still want to see it done as an NES

What USSR? It was Yugoslavia that was in control all along there. Fall of USSR simply demoralized the more communist factions.

I mean that cultural differences and geography were ONE reason, not two separate ones.
whatever the reason, i still want to see it done as an NES

Do it, then.

hardley- thier are plenty of examples of people in the same geographic region, with the same geography generating plenty of different cultures

Do it, then.
no.

Btw - Amen, here is a 1914 world map for my take on the Old Empires timeline.

Wow, das! I'm impressed! Now, let's see that timeline. I want to know exactly what differences there are between that version of TOE and this one.

You know, I was always kinda jealous that even though I got to mod a NES based on TOE, (which many have said is my crowning acheivement when it came to NES modding), I never got to play it. If you were to say, open one, I'd spring for Byzantines or US. :)

Sorry - too busy with my current NES.

The differences... are too many to go on about. Suffice it to say that I already saved five or so more Old Empires then with the last one (Napoleonic France, HRE, Mamelukes, Mughals, Qing China)?

Guess-the-POD. 1200 AD.

You can ask about nation names if you want.

Something to do with Mongols and them staying in power? No Mongolian civil war? Perhaps Charlemagne's empire didnt get split up too?

CHalemagne goest west, instead of eastward into Germany- and has only one son as well?

If you look, Mongolia is empty, and the capital is deep in China. Doesn't look like mongols to me.

Perhaps the Mongols managed to hold onto China?..

No Mongols yet. 1200 AD, not 1300.
No Mongolian civil war?

See above.

As you can see. But isn't the PoD.

Well, to some extent that's what happened here (but its not the PoD neither! ;) ). That is, he still did capture Bavaria but didn't try to conquer Saxony as he was busy with Spain.
China is not split up, instead perhaps the Tang dynsaty stays in power for a while or the Song are not so pacifistic?

Tang still in power indeed. But - not the PoD!
Perhaps the Mongols managed to hold onto China?..

No. Mongol Era starts later.
Ghengis Khan wasn't born yet either. he comes around 1260 or so I think...

He would already have been alive in 1200, IMHO, but he is yet to unite the Mongols. Not that he is, according to my stance on people being born after the PoD, likely to exist at all.

Try again, everyone.

1200 and the Tang are still around? The Tang were c. 800, not 1200. Unless this is the later Tang or something... :crazyeye:

I know. Verily it is the Very Later Tang, whose power is slipping.

But, try to guess the PoD! I mean, you CAN ask about nation names, and these might actually help.

Oh, and NK - I hate to chase you with this question throughout the NES Forum, but will you start another NES one day?

It doesn't have anything to do with Tibet, does it?

And hmm... A new NES might have to wait a while. Maybe.

Not at all. Though Tibet is somewhat more preserved then in OTL. You will, however, be probably surprised if you saw a map of OTL 9th (I think) century Tibet.

As for a new NES, all I want to say is that I have a large list of fresh-start nations I want to try out. ;) Sadly, there are simply not enough fresh-start NESes right now.
