@Daftpanzer: Paint.NET and third-party plugins. BTW, the "dragon" was made with the same effect as the sun behind the horse in the earlier flag, only with different parameters and manually filled with colors.
Also, take my orders as "uber priorities" for the century(/-ies) and feel free to do what else with the countries if my and others' orders don't really cover that long. Unless my co-players don't want that.
All the Olan peoples (except the Masuberg/Lanverg, but even they will by diffusion) are to develop a more "civilized" culture and keep drifting away from their old, "barbaric" culture.
The Masuberg kingdom and the Lanverg kingdom are to seek unification. This new kingdom is to keep expanding along coasts in search of more fishing fields. Partly motivated by Asauat tales and partly motivated by quests for honor and riches, they are to set up a series of colonies along Greenland's coast, and even as far west as North America. If the Tarith kingdoms prove weak enough, they may even annex small parts of northern Britain (as in a couple of little peninsulas and some islands).
The Rosk kingdom is to keep conquering some Otlav kingdoms and allying with others, while also developing better firearms, land tactics, etc. They are also to keep expanding into Otlav kingdoms in OTL Finland, and start being somewhat wary and afraid of the Ponebytav kingdom, although nothing is to come of this yet. They are to maintain their good relations with the Aarut kingdom.
The Otlav kingdoms are to continue either resisting the Rosk or allying themselves with the Rosk if offered enough. The more southern kingdoms are to also try to develop a better land military, but the more northern and isolated ones probably won't have enough money.
The Ponebytav kingdom is to focus on developing superior firearms, tactics, etc. The people/society are/is to become more organized and practical (much like stereotypical Germans; that stereotype might just be regional, so if you don't know what I'm talking about, ignore this). They are to keep expanding into Vodlan, Gaap, Griut, and otherwise uncivilized lands while still resenting the Sariv and Amestrian kingdoms for not completely/horribly losing all of their past wars. Once they learn of Savisian attacks on the Sariv and Amestrian kingdoms (the Keyzad's to be precise), they are to send envoys to the Kezy, negotiate an alliance, and make a few attacks on the Sariv to show the Kezy the usefulness of such an alliance. They will attempt to split the Sariv and Amestrian kingdoms with the Keyzad. The Ponebytav, being as receptive to new ideas as ever, will quickly adopt the Sariv kingdoms' superior agricultural techniques and any other useful technologies they may find there. Eventually, the rulers of the Ponebytav kingdom will convert to the same branch of Wainism as the Aarut kingdom's, bringing them and the Keyzad even closer together.
The Aarut kingdom are to seek to avoid conflict with the Targarota/Amarisle/etc and the Aestians. In fact, they are to ask the leaders of the Aestian empire, the Amarisle kingdom, the major Targarotan kingdoms, etc to meet for a conference on the future of northern Europe
Spoiler:
(I'm thinking that one city in Leav might be a good idea, but if it's too touchy to the Aestians and/or the Targarotans aren't flattered enough, choose a city in the Targarotan sphere). There, they are to suggest that these three powers (Aarut, the Targarotans, Aestia) stop fighting amongst each other (pretend that I listed some reasons here), resolve their issues peacefully, etc. Try to get them to agree that if one power breaks this treaty, all others involved have the right, nay, duty, to put the aforementioned power back in its place. Make sure to flatter the Targarotans as much as possible. The Aarut will offer the Targarotans to stay out of Britain, and even advise their merchants to stop trading with the Kronahar, if needed. Our diplomats are to do their best to keep the Leav kingdom as a buffer between Aestia and Aarut.
Basically just get really friendly with the Targarotans and get them to sign an agreement that forbids me from expanding into Targarotan and Aestian lands, Targarota from expanding into Aarut and Aestian lands, and more importantly Aestia expanding into Targarotan and Aarut lands. Turn them into an ally.
Once that's done, the Aarut are to cease trying to extend their influence into northern Europe. They will gladly annex the little beige Geldut state directly south-west of them if they can do so diplomatically, but that's it.
Throughout this period, the Aarut are to keep improving their naval technology. Very early on, they are to start building 3 large capital ships. They are to be larger than any other ships in our navy, have a massive amount of cannons, be made of the finest wood available, reinforced with multiple layers of strong wood and any other light materials we may possess (bronze/iron would just slow them down too much) and overall be extremely impressive. After they are ready to sail, we will send an impressive expedition (the 3 capital ships, multiple trade ships laden with our finest goods, about 21% of the rest of our navy, etc) down the coast of western Europe to explore the fabled rich and advanced kingdoms to the south (I'm assuming that there's already some kind of trade network between northern Europe and southern/south-eastern Europe).
They will stop and exchange gifts and maps with the Navacubi kingdom, and there they will learn of Navacubi colonies to the south and of the rich Saratian empire to the east. A small part of our fleet is to remain behind and continue diplomacy with Navacubi, and a few ships are to sail back to Aarut and report on their findings. The main part of our fleet is to sail to the Saratian empire, and similarly exchange gifts with them. There they will learn of the riches of Asia (spices, mild drugs such as opium and tea, etc.) and of the "hated" Yansala empire. Out of curiosity, before they exit the Mediterranean, the expedition will visit the Yansala empire. Once again they are to exchange gifts. There, they will learn of Wainism, they will once again be told of the massive riches of Asia, and they will also learn of the recently-started war between Tezan and Navacubi.
The admiral, being an intelligent man and seeing this war as a perfect opportunity to attempt to bypass the Yansala and Saratian empires and directly trade with Asia, will send a few ships to Aarut, reporting his findings and informing the king of the benefits of a war with the Navacubi. The expedition is to return to Navacubian seas, link up with the small force left there, and sail to the Tezan kingdom while deceiving the Navacubians about their destination. Once they reach the Tezan court, they will express their full support for Tezan in their war against the Navacubians, and promise to help them defeat the Navacubian navy. Once reinforcements from Aarut arrive, our navy will strike Navacubi's navy when they least expect it, and hopefully utterly decimate it. From then on, the Tezan should have little problems beating the Navacubi in a land war, and we will sail down the African coast seizing Navacubi colonies.
As soon as we are able to, we are to send a few trade ships over into the Indian Ocean. They will likely meet Hom traders, and turn the Hom into the middleman between us and the rest of the Indian Ocean trade network for some time to come. The Aarut will then work on further developing their trade network with the Hom and keeping others out of it. They will also colonize the Cape Verde islands and maintain their good relations with the Tezan: in fact, soon after their entrance into the Navacubian war, the king of Aarut is to somewhat reconcile Wainism and Olanist beliefs, creating a new branch of Wainism which will quickly take root among the Aarut nobles.
The Leav kingdom is to continue being a buffer between Aarut and Aestia, making sure they don't get conquered by either of them, and establish good relations with the Targarota.
The Geldut states are to attempt to form a confederacy. If this idea has enough backing, the more reluctant states may even be forced into joining. However, they will stagnate and decline overall, as their role has been filled in by the richer Aarut kingdom.
Oh kcuf. Sorry, I got a bit carried away, and by the time I realized that my orders were way too long I'd already almost finished. Umm... well... hmm... here's a short summary of Aarut actions:
Spoiler:
Naval tech. Peace in North Europe with Leav staying there as buffer if possible. Focus on the rest of the world. Attack Navacubi and take their colonies. Convert to a branch of Wainisim the king founds. Keep expanding trade network: the Hom are to act as middlemen to the rest of the Indian Ocean. Profit!
Second EdIt:
Fixed some grammatical mistakes, plus this needs to be added (it's not that important, but still):
Once the Aarut kingdom defeats the Navacubi, the king is to proclaim the start of the Aarut empire.
If this time period is long enough, the Aarut may even start directly trading with the resource-rich Indian Ocean countries. If given the chance, they may even start using their navy to annex the aforementioned areas, starting with OTL Ceylon.
Tyvm! Like I said, I was only going to write a few sentences, but I got carried away . Oh and btw, if you want to know the meaning of my name, read it upside down.
Qoou, I am very jealous of you writing such long tracts! Perhaps you could spair a sentance or two for the description of Dumnonia? Also, doodling up a flag for them would be appreciated.
@qoou- Actually, Keyzad is a corruption of Kezyad, the ancient Zevonese word for 'Kingdom'. Kezy, in ancient as well as modern times, is the word for 'King'. This is slightly corrupted Savisian dialects, where the words are 'Keta' for King, 'Ketad' for Kingdom, and 'Ketada' for Kingdoms. In Astarian language, the word is further corrupted to 'Sesa'. Glad to see a friend joining in on the good struggle.
Civetis Kingdom
- Decline, but only remain alive in the capital of Civetis, rest goes to barbarians and neighbours.
- Invent optics.
Kupartan Kingdom
- Invade the Vespe Kingdoms, attempting to create a Mediterranean power in Kuparta
- Use gunpowder on ships.
Tetche Kingdom
- Invade Sumetche and lose land.
- Decline through a series of 3 insane kings.
Sumetche Kingdom
- Invade Turun and use gunpowder in combat
- develop Gunpowder in any possible way and send the technology eastwards.
Saratian Empire (slight influence)
- Lose some of the northernmost territory to the Arad kingdoms through a series of small wars
- Become Wainlist if not already and attemp to spread it in the Arad kingdoms and more into Eastern Europe. If I do not have enough influence, revolt some place, creating a small Wainlist kingdom with the protection of Yansala Empire.
Yansala Empire
- Spread Wainlism into Europe, especially the Mutyl peninsular. Help Kuparta with their wars.
- Great war between Yansala and Saratia.
Varakan Empire
- Expand into the Garakal states, founding an overseas empire with control of east-west trade
Things have ramped up in busyness again so I'll be taking a slight holiday from CFC (just working on ChaNES most likely since that's a quickie every few weeks).
Let the Timiquican culture flourish. I think you'd know what sort of direction I'm looking for for the island Timiquican, lots of sailing and seafaring culture - a Caribbean sceptered isle if you will.
The Washagon Tribes will finally start to settle down and form a loose civilization. They will take advantage of the chaos happening in the Tagon Kingdoms to take some more land in the process.
The Tagon Kingdoms will start to fracture, with different kingdoms within the entire nation going on the war path against each other. (They aren't all that united, are they?) The one who comes out on top will have done so through tactical skill and being able to gain the trust and loyalty of the people whom they control (They wont be able to take over all of the former Tagon lands, but the one who conquers the majority of it.)
The Hawache Kingdom will also try to seize some former Tagon lands, but for the most part will try to play it safe and only attack those kingdoms who it knows it can defeat.
The Hachago Kingdoms will try to make contact and befriend the Hawache and start a trade network with them.
The Nanhauk Chiefdoms will send explorers north to assimilate the northern tribes into their society.
The Asuat Tribes in North America will spread west-ward, to try and conquer their western neighbors, the Kurkwan. The Asuat in Iceland will spread to the islands north of Europe, trying to steer clear of other peoples.
The Asuats living in the Masuberg Kingdom will try, over the years, to gain influence and importance in the Masuberg culture. Once (if) they gain any, they will attempt to overthrow the government and make a new Asuati Kingdom.
The Waeluta Tribes in the islands north of Kojin will begin to settle down and adopt Kojin ideas (relating to civilization). They will adopt their ideas, but will refuse to join Kojin society. The Waeluta in Alaska will continue their whaling and uncivilized ways, but may spread east to Tunuk territory and, if necessary, go to war, or at the very least, leave them alone.
The few peoples of Waeluta origin that live in the Kojin Kingdom will try to encourage their "brothers", the Waeluta, to join the Kojin Kingdom, but the Waeluta wont accept it.
If yes, a simple order, proceed to subjugate all the other tribes and chiefdoms around me, uproot and prepare for a campaign of terror and subjugation against the poor Varakan Empire… mountains of skulls are a plus
Announcement: only a couple of hours left to send any more input. After that, anything you send runs the risk of being ignored (due to be being offline most of the time etc).
You are reminded that nothing more than a few words/sentances are asked for!
@everyone, if any players or lurkers or anyone in general would like to post any thoughts/opinions about how this timeline thing is shaping up, and/or what they see as the most problematic and ridiculous things, they are very welcome to do so!
I like the only-one-world-religion-in-Europe-and-the-Middle-East, but I kind of find the large-ish number of world religions in this time-line... weird.
Europe not having the Black Plague is certainly going to change things: instead of 95% of America's population dying to diseases as in OTL, only ~60% or so will die, drastically reducing the incentive to colonize Central America for their resources. In fact, the only areas I see being colonized (if any) are the Caribbean and the OTL southern US. This leads to another problem in itself: instead of the Portuguese-Spanish split of the world, a wild scramble for colonies will probably result in a few updates.
I like how southern India's divided right when the Europeans finally have the ability to start colonizing the rich Indian Ocean.
The deeper technological, and cultural in general, gap between south-eastern Europe+Anatolia and the rest of Europe would've been interesting. However, I expect this gap to disappear pretty soon as the Amestrians keep importing Mavan culture and the Aarut import Wainism.
China's age-old split will certainly be interesting. It's still unifiable, but the unifying party would need a pretty big oomph.

Smallpox, hantavirus, measles, and so on made a plenty deadly combo. You'd still have around 90 - 95% death rates, which would admittedly leave them in better shape than the 97 - 98% that happened in real life.
