Alternate Timeline Building Experiment, v1.0

Thanks again!

If a big war happens (still not decided right now) I'll probably post another map with some of the major fronts/zones etc, and give you some say in how your countries fight. If a war happens...

Use militant Marzhung Nationalism as a means of crushing violent opposition, less violent opposition can be co-opted by agreeing to keep Marzhung Nationalists of their back. Industrial terrorism is to be punished in the gravest means... preferably in grand public executions... ****** the growth of the state aye?

this is an incredible nes, wish i was around when this started i would definatly be part of this.

okay.........this is an awsome experiment

anything less would be an insult

@Condor_green, you're very welcome to join, although this has got kinda confusing :)

The japanese-equivalent culture with its two main factions is probably the biggest vacancy. There's also the Yeshegi uprising around the Caspian sea, and the France equivalent (which is probably more like Hungary in culture), and the oppressed Amestrians who are something like germans.

Any ideas on an ETA Daft?

I was going to post another mini-update tonight, I'm behind schedule though. I'll definately post something by this time tommorrow.

Luckymoose said:
When it is completed Daft will probably win a Nobel Prize.

Meh, already got one thx :p

IMHO the Amestrians are definitely Finno-Ugric- the Olan are the Germanic equivalents here, as the Sarvonians are Slavs.

ill take the japanes culture one, also im kinda confused on how to do this, do i just say what happened to my culture and what they are going to do.

I could agree with that, although its just stuck in my mind that Crezth made germanic references while he was guiding them in the early eras.

You could say how you want the culture / countries / empires etc to develop, what you want them to focus on, basically what direction you want them to go in. You can post ideas and intentions, ideas for great people and historic events, etc. The problem with saying exactly what happens is that I will probably disagree with you :)

ok and what is this japanese culrure called and what does minor and major influence mean? after this is answered count me in

OK I promised to post something, so here it is. I haven't had enough time really. Or more accurately I've been spending lots of time on other things :o

Some of the borders/territories are edited, but most is still the same on the map. Basically its another list of flashpoints, but this time only the major ones. All that other stuff is still going on. So yeah, this is what's going to be happening around 1945-1955 ish, unless any concerned players wish to change things, or etc, I'm still open to any input you wish to give :)

Spoiler FLASHPOINTS MAP 1945-1955 :

Earth-Blank-Northern-D2-age18pre.png

Spoiler DETAILS :

A: The Suraji, angered by Xanto-inspired unrest among natives, and eager to teach them and their supporters a lesson, invade Xanto lands with the help of some loyal native volunteers. The Suraji have superior weapons but not an overwhelming advantage. The Xanto have some aircraft and armoured vehicles supplied from Furotocan countries, and other weapons from Tezan. A large regional war develops.

B: Aarut forces move in to stamp out the 'free states' founded by European and north-african immigrants. The Aarut are actually aiding the natives in some cases, as they mainly want to restore order in the region. Things are fairly small scale but very vicious. The Free Stateists are determined to escape Aarut authority and have aquired some aircraft and vehicles of their own.

C: Small scale independence revolts in the 'middle colonies' put down by Aarut troops, with promises of new referendums and more autonomy to come.

D: Aarut and their allies fight to establish new states in the region, either allied or not overtly hostile to the Aarut. Scattered, sporadic guerrilla warfare. Natives fight on both sides.

E: Aarut forces are slowly withdrawing from inland occupied territories in the face of guerrilla warfare and large-scale unrest among the natives. Aarut immigrant settlements appeal against being abandoned, and threaten to go it alone with their own stockpiles of weapons.

-> The Aarut parliament are seeking a 'new solution' to the North American problem, favouring the idea of creating several independent but closely allied states.

F: The expansion of Matac forces and their allies into the Amazon creates a messy jungle war. The Matac have superior weapons and their steamboats prowl the Amazon waterways. The old Anukarac states and the native tribes fight back however they can. Suraji 'adventurers' help the natives contain Matac expansion. The fighting spreads to the Zamarc kingdom, which threatens to collapse. Hygura and the Aarut coastal colonies get involved with their own militias as they try to expand inland.

G: A small scale, but long-lived border war. Suraji and Zanac, with some help from Tezan, fight against Aarut and Amasa forces.

H: Nemarthian civil war comes to an end. Furotocan countries sent help, but the resulting government is still more militaristic/nationalist than they would have liked. Nemarthia now has ambiguous relations with its neighbours.

I: Argine civil war ends with the rise of a hardline militaristic/nationalist/socialist (but not quite fascist) government. It successfully regains influence in northern [Spain] due to local support there. But the Amarisle territory stays close to the more centrist powers of the Aarut sphere.

J: The Rosk Empire faces mass civil unrest at home and in the occupied Amestiran territories. It is forced to grant various referendums which promise to create new Olan-Amestrian states within Rosk-Aarut umbrella, but ends in chaos and disagreement. Some of the western territories discuss union with Thessen [Germany]. Peace movements and spiritualist movements help to calm things down. But things inevitably turn violent in the east and some major fighting takes place there, threatening to drag in expeditions from Rosk and Aarut, as well as neighbouring Poneb and Sarvonia.

-> Due to pragmatic reforms and shared social problems on both sides, the threat of an ideological struggle between north and south Europe seems to have largely disappeared. It now seems like the Argine and east Amersitran regimes are the main threat to both sides.

K: Major colonial war between Tezan and Manzuru, involving vehicles and aircraft on both sides. Tezan begins to make large gains despite Varakan aid to Manzuru army.

L: As building of a 'Yansalan Canal' gets underway, Varakans mass troops on the border and demand a presence on the canal zone and/or a share of the shipping tolls.

M: Varakan expedition to 'contain' the 'rogue' Manzuru forces invading Saikaran-held lands in Africa, and push back Timuru tribal armies in the process.

-> The Varakans and Saikarans sign a pact to cooperate against mutual problems and threats in Africa, India, East Asia and the south Pacific. They also collaborate to build the most powerful aircraft and ships yet known.

N: The Saikarans begin to consider withdrawing from Hom, in the face of constant nationalist uprisings and guerrilla movements.

O: Yeshegi unrest and sporadic violence, in the pursuit of greater autonomy. The Varakans cautiously give support to those across the border in the Thereska Sarvonia while granting some more freedom to the Tetche and Civetis Katans.

P: Serious rebellion by those disillusioned with the Furotocanist government of Sarvonia, and/or still loyal to Poneb, and/or wishing a more authoritarian and less 'corrupt' government. Problems made worse by Sarvonia's peaceful annexation of most of former Zevon land [Romania].

Q: Krashenists and anti-Saikaran uprisings in Zhul lands of southern India. Varakan and Saikaran troops intervene.

R: Major offensives and expeditions against Krashenist strongholds by Varakans, including first use of airborne troops, clumsily parachuting from lumbering four-engined heavy monoplane bombers.

S: Tiandishi army conducts 'anti-terrorist' campaigns which end up taking another bite of the Holy Shyin Empire, including the ancient ceremonial capitol. These actions only seem to increase the activities of Shyin extremists and guerrillas.

-> Shyin leaders make some appeals to Varakans for assistance. The Varakans gradually increase their support from diplomatic gestures to trainloads of weapons arriving from the west.

T: Unrest and independence movements amongst the Varakan far east territories are crushed with force. The Varakans fear growing Huiyan-Yanshi influence in the region. A short and inconclusive border war is fought, with tens of thousands of troops and hundreds of tanks and airplanes employed by both sides at its peak.

U: Despite great efforts to keep the Sezyvr covenant in one piece, there is rarely an effective government for more than a few months at a time, and still regional fighting between rival factions.

V: Tiandishi-Huitan-Yanshi Triple Alliance (open to suggestions for the name :) ) is formalised, and they begin to openly support rebellion unrest in Saikaran colonies. They also successfully intervene to aid the Mingdebuist fanatics of Dai Gedeba and the surrounding islands. The Saikarans and Suraji feel increasingly threatened and isolated. In turn, they threaten to take the war to mainland asia with squadrons of cutting-edge long-range bombers, and break the 'gentleman's agreement' of keeping the fighting confined to the southern colonies.

W: Yanshi military ports and airbases on [Guam] (I think!) are attacked by Saikaran aircraft launched from aircraft carriers. The Yanshi are outraged, but he Saikarans maintain that this is justified retaliation for the actions of the Triple Alliance.

X: Marzhung militarist factions gain power after helping the government to crush various other sources of unrest. Marzhung-based companies attempt to break the domination of the Varakan industrialists, and often succeed with the backing of the pro-nationalist government. The country may be drifting from Varakan control. Still, the Varakans have a large oil industry of their own, based mainly in [Iran] and [Mesopotamia].

Y: The Keyzad of Sariv threatens to break apart into Sarvonian, Amestiran and mixed Poneb loyalist camps. There is no real violence so far, but this could become another link in the chain of conflicts around eastern Europe.

Z: Some of the Saikaran territories are much more loyal than others. Efforts by the Triple Alliance to incite a rebellion on the island of [Taiwan] fall on deaf ears. The Saikarans are outraged, however (partly leading to incident W).

-> Thankfully the list ends here before I start getting into strange symbols like Œ.

Basically, I still can't see a world war scenario happening :). It occurs to me I don't really know what I'm doing anymore with the point system and these mini-updates :crazyeye:. Unless someone really wants to be the instigator of a world war, this is the last mini-update before the 'proper' update, which I will now start putting together. Thankyou, again, for all the input so far.

Thought: future updates may actually be much like the list above, just with better grammar and more non-violent things mentioned :)

@Condor_green, on second thoughts, with the amount of stuff the Takaraji/Japanese are involved with, I think its best if I just NPC them for now. Sorry... I might have some other options for you though, what kind of culture / countries would you be interested in playing as?

Sorry for missing this update, I was away for Thanksgiving!

Looking forward to it still and I'll contribute for the next one.

Tis' not the update.

But now a general word from our Sponsors, Marzhung Oil!

We should support a candidate in the Covenant to Glorious Victory for All Nationalist forces in this world. Nationalism trumps principles!

Find a Nationalist winner in Sarvonia, arm and equip them, and use the hatred of the Poneb/Poben sympathizers in the country as an excuse to other throw the government and install a more competent less corrupt government of friendly Nationalists. Invade if necessary to crush the Poneb and their "Republican" sympathizers.

Nationalize Varakan business in Marzhung they don't deserve it. Of course they won't object because we will have allies now :)

EDIT: Ally with the Rosk, and Aarut, they understand proper government, use the excuse to install more friends. Keep out of the main war, keep my goals limited and aim to not get involved in the general hub hub.

i would like to take the Oxtlatle culture, any wars i should know about?

Well... DP, do you still want input for this upcoming update or is it too late? I could theoretically write something up for you if you want.

@Stormbringer, aye it is but another mini-update. If you happen to have any thoughts for the Huiyan and etc then please feel free to post them, otherwise they can continue in the same direction you set before.

@Condor_green, that culture has main influence in the countries of the carribean and the north of south america. Those ones are happily trading with the Aarut [denmark/norway] and others, not industrialised/modernised but slowly absorbing influences. You'd also have lesser influence in the Xanto empire (south-west US) which is fighting against the Aarut and Suraji [north Japanese] invaders (lesser influence means you don't have as much say over those countries, as other cultures have more influence).
