American Dad

I thought it pretty much sucked. Political humor is gets old FAST. Especially when the political humor isn't very good. For my money, of all the 23942935 shows that are derivative of The Simpsons, none of them even come close to being as good.

I don't know. I think Futarama was pretty good, and it's hard for someone to make two shows like that, IMO. A lot of the humour was of a similar nature, but the whole plot was different and the characters were not really comparable. Oh, and I think The Family Guy is way better than The Simpsons, if you're including it as one of the rip-offs.

The Simpsons has sucked for 5 seaons now, but people love it too much to realize it.

Futurama was far better than the last few seasons of the Simpsons. Same with Family Guy.

I think American Dad could turn out well, as LONG as they don't overdo the political aspect, and let his whiny daughter get too many lines.

No, man. They weren't CIA agents, they were FBI. And the writers weren't making fun of political humor, they were making fun of The Odd Couple specifically and sitcoms in general. And I fail to see how American Dad is at all based on that small joke from "To Love and Die in Dixie".

You and me, we usually agree. . . not this time.

I'm not saying its based on it, but that was one instance of Seth MacFarlane making fun of political humor. I had thought of a couple more:

When they watch Murphy Brown, and they say: "Blah blah blah blah blah blah Clarence Thomas *big laughs* blah blah blah blah Hilary Clinton *bigh laughs*"

Or when Peter makes a topical joke, and Brian and him shuffle their feet and pause while there is loud crowd laughter.

EDIT: The Simpsons has been pretty good this season. Not the Superbowl episode, but in general, its been alright. Or maybe I just laugh at it because I am eagerly anticipating Arrested Development. :D

I didn't expect it to be so funny, considering it was so much like Family Guy. Actually, it exaggerates certain aspects of Family Guy, like the rapid shifts in dialogue and unexpected situations. It actually got some great laughs from me. I worry though, whether they can keep it exciting like this for long. At some point, I fear we'll all get tired of this formula.

On the plus side, I really liked the fish. Alien was OK I guess: "Henry Kissinger: More than just a Jew."

That's right. The Simpsons have lost the subtilty, internal consistency and interesting storylines and jokes and replaced it with cebelitry guests, very crude charcartization, shallow storylines and obvious gags.

Now, this is the essence of Family Guy, but it was never anything more than that. In other other words, Family Guy does not have live under shadow of betters days, unlike Modern Simpsons. Futurama was better than the last few seasons of The Simpson, it sad to have seen them go like that.

To put it mathmatically:

Futurama = Classical Simpsons > Family Guy > Modern Simpsons

I anticipate Arrested Devlopement as well, along with Malcom in the Middle. Fox know only how to build the greatest and worst shows on TV.

I liked it. I have no idea when it is going to be shown here, but there are other ways to be able to watch new television episodes.
