lynch em ahrd!

We just had a case where several people went as a lynching mob and killed someone they suspected was a child molester. It turns out he most likely was not.

53 sex offenders in my zip code... one of them lives a mile and a quarter away from me...
One lives on my friends street... yikes

In which nation do you live?

none in any of the towns I live, work, or go to college.

Tossi, Denmark, but that's irrelevant.

There are two points:

1) People may be convicted even though they're innocent. And yet they would wind up on such a list which is the same as branding them for good.

2) People may be subject to more penalty from vigilantes after they have served their time in prison or whichever penalty was imposed.

Specifically with pedophiles there's a problem if they are released without treatment given they have a disease they are unlikely to control. But a lynching mob is not the answer, treatment is.

Well, at the farthest out you get Upper Manhattan and the Bronx on the map, so the count is artificially high (235). Just two in my town, both for sexual battery in the home.

In any case, that website is just another way for people to be paranoid. Ridiculous.

There's one right across the street from our local elementary school.

Funny you should say that, his house is on top of a hill so he can actually see down into the school yard.

One in a town near mine. Otherwise nothing.

Yes I agree. Why is this information open to the public? I wonder what exactly this website is for. By giving this information to the people, don't they say: Uh, we can't handle this problem, so we let the people handle it.

My screwy state does not allow access to such information.
