Amra's ALH Modpack for v1.61 (using Animated Leaderheads)

I must report a ctd in my current game on 1.72 ;-( I have been playing my first game for about 150 turns without problems but now it seems to crash always at 103 at turns at my 2nd.

I'll keep my eyes open then.
If I find something, I'll try to send a "Saved Game" to Amra.
:)
I'm ready to go back to RPG games.:viking: I'm trying to have fun making this modpack but these crashes really take all the fun out of it.:( I really thought I had it with the clues pointing to the resources.

It may help me if you send me your log files after a crash, presuming that the logging option is turned on in your CivilizationIV.ini file. Just zip up any files ending in .log in your My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization IV\Logs directory.

The 1.72 version is very stable. Thousands of "clicks", and nothing yet.
Maybe I'm lucky today!
Amra, just wait until someone is able to send some logs or a saved game.
No proof yet.
:)

Yeah, I'm stepping back from modding for a little bit and am just going to play the game. Imagine that, novel concept, actually playing the game.

Amra I have been using low resolutions from the beginning
Sorry Thracian, missed that post earlier. I don't know what to tell you about the LH problems you are experiencing.

I know that the white eye problem is due to using low resolution textures. The readme from Firaxis for patch 1.61 addresses that. Unfortunately, I did a lot of the LHs based on pre 1.61 textures so that is why my LHs still have the problem. However, I think I can apply a fix with my next version. I know, that doesn't help you now. Sorry. Perhaps, for now, try unchecking low resolution textures if you video card will handle it.

As far as the other LH problems with wrong colors/textures, I think that is specific to your video card and the fact that I only reskinned one of two graphics files for each of my leaderheads. My plans, unfortunately, do not involve reskinning all the other files. If I can come up with another fix, I will post it. Otherwise, I am really sorry. :(

It's Ok Amra. I know my graphics card is crap anyway
Now, I wasn't trying to insult your vid card :D My Radeon 9700 is over 3 years old and, to be honest, I'm surpried that I can actually play any game released within the last year. As it is I can't really play Civ4 on anything more than a Standard map. Even that gets slow towards the end of the game.

Same Here, It's Annoying

Ok i managed to upload the whole bunch of txt files, as they should contain the error i hope. I have been playing another single game until turn 250 without problems, the log mentions something of a missing movie ?

Thanks, I'll take a look at them. I didn't do anything with any of the movies, though, so I will definitely be confused if that is the problem :crazyeye:

hey, i would just like to know if this mod is good or not, i need something to keep me busy until the new RAR, but i also want to know if its compatible with v1.61

thx

@Aradiel
I took just a quick look at the logs you sent me (It's late where I'm at & I'm tired) and a couple things jumped out at me that make me want to ask what version of my mod you are playing and how you installed it.

The reason I ask these questions, is because the init.log file listed the mod directory as "Mods\Amra's ALH Modpack\" instead of "Mods\Amra's ALH Modpack v172\". That leads me to believe that you may have somehow installed version 1.72 over a previous version. That would definitely cause some problems.

Also, the PythonErr.log file is referring to errors with the "TechWindow" mod which is not part of version 1.72 (I want to add it back in the next version after some testing).

If I'm guessing right, and you installed the latest version (1.72) of my modpack over a prior version (possibly 1.61), can you try deleting my modpack from your Mods directory and then reinstall version 1.72 by extracting it to your Mods directory? If done correctly, it should create a directory under "Mods" titled "Amra's ALH Modpack v172". Then try a new game (not a savegame) and see what happens.

Please let me know either way if I guessed right and, if so, were you able to play a full game. No one else has mentioned any problems and I'm really hoping that this was the problem. Thanks :goodjob:

Thanks for the interest. Yes, it is compatible with Civ4 v1.61 and someone else here will have to answer you about whether this mod is good or not as I'm probably not very objectionable about it:D.

I can tell you a little about it though, plus there is a link on page 1 to a Readme and reference guide in PDF format (only about 1MB to download) that will tell you a little more. Basically, if you like the gameplay of vanilla Civ4, then you may like this modpack. I haven't really altered the gameplay, just added more civs & units as well as incorporated many new graphics such as new flags & unit reskins that (I think) make the game look a little better. There are many fine modpacks out there that will add a lot while changing gameplay. If you are looking for something like that, I would highly reccommend Sevomod.

I've tried to be very thorough in my work by adding full Pedia entries for all the new Civs, Leaders, Units, etc. and double checking the misc graphics changes to make this modpack look as seemless as possible when you are playing it. I have plans for my next version (still about a month away, at least) of adding more interface tweaks and 6 more civs. So, if you don't want to try it now, maybe check back in about a month. :goodjob:

i think i might try yours and sevomods sometime soon, thanks
