An early sheiam hero would be cool, but why not go make another thread for it.

So I got to thinking in the Herne thread about starting heroes, or early heroes.

I read somewhere in a manual that lucian is extra precious because he cannot be rezzed when he does due to abashi taking up that slot? Is this still true?

Personally I like Lucian as a starting hero. What about other early heroes? Would that be too much for a game already stocked with MOAR?

Lucian is a Doviello unit. The real Doviello hero is The War Machine

The real Kuriotates hero is Eurabatres, so he is the one resurrected instead of Herne.

The Sheaim's only hero is Abashi, so it is she that Resurrection resurrects.

(In my version, I changed it so that the death of a dragon leaves the dragon bones unique improvement providing the appropriate mana type. Another spell, requiring the Stir from Slumber Ritual and for all dragons but Acheron available to only the proper civ, can resurrect the dragons. As such, Resurrection brings back Herne instead of Abashi. I added Malchiavic as a second Shaim hero and make Resurrection work on him instead of Abashi. Malchiavic is physically weak archmage hero with Unholy Taint, Sunderered, Stigmata, and Twincast. He can never be built, only resurrected, as he has been dead since in the Age of Magic.

I've thought of making The War Machine rebuildale though a piece of equipment like Barnaxus (and in my version the Mithril Golem) and making Lucian (who in my version starts with Iron weapons, but is otherwise unchanged) the one to be resurrected. I haven't done that yet though.

I'm also thinking about making Resurrection work by triggering an event with an option to resurrect any hero in the game, provided the unit has died and you'd be able to build it otherwise. That might be hard to code though.)

Sounds like fun. Sure, Sheim already get pyre zombies (WMD's) and Planar Gates, but heroes are just fun.

I dont play Doviello much, but Lucian is good IF you can make use of him really early. Otherwise, he is just another axeman.

lol major space out on the abashi thing.

But my question still stands? Extra minor heroes in the form of units?

it seems fair that the sheaim get another hero since their only one is at divine essence... also, I'd like Lucian to gain hero and the war machine to lose hero, and be available at iron working instead of machinery.

How about something somewhat different - a demon that pops up in a random location - not necessarily in Sheiam territory at all. You can sacrifice X population to make it a Sheiam unit. (Or sacrifice the population to make the unit appear.)

Or maybe as a lair result: It only happens once, anyone can get the result - but it's the Sheiam unit.

Hmm. I am just down for extra minor heroes no matter their pedigree, though that idea does sound interesting

I personally think the Sheiam need an arcane hero.

Maybe a mage that starts with Channeling II, at KotE. And can learn Channeling III at Sorcery, thereby giving the Sheiam a magical leg up.

that would be cool, also you would want a way for the hero to help raise the AC

I think it would be enough to give Sheaim a 'early' adept-type hero at Knowledge of the Ether. Uniquely named and with a promotion that gives it a unique graphic. Perhaps with some nice promotion, not 'hero'.

Then it can just be upgraded Adept -> Mage -> Archmage and keep its graphics, name and unique promotions.

First everyone complains 'bout the pyre zombie being OP, then everyone wants Sheaim to be even more powerfull.:crazyeye:

Am I the only one to remember those guys are already most potent mages, thanks to unique promotions and leader traits ?

I just think it would be cool to have minor heroes, like Lucian, for all the civs.

Why all civs? Some civs could use one, but not every civ needs them.

To add to uniqueness and flavour.

And just because it's cool.

With a little practice, I've figured out the basics of adding a new hero, so perhaps I'll do a sheiam one next, once I finish with sabathiel.
