Perhaps we need a thread "How are you prepared for total anarchy?"

So, Society is going to collapse tomorrow. All law and order will break down, the long tenous supply chains that keep us clothed and fed will fray and snap, the factories will close and the lights won't switch on. How well are you prepared?

I'll do myself first. Im not prepared at all. Having said that, I'm in a fairly decent position. The closest Urban centre is about12 miles from me, and Im about fifty miles from any decent urban centres. That is, I'm equidistant from both Manchester and Birmingham. Thus, I can hope to avoid the first flushes of violence and looting. I won't have to defend my phone against violent mobs, and I live fairly out of the way. Nowhere near any main roads. Hopefully, I'd be able to intimidate any wanderers with an air rifle, some old swords, and an old Luger, if necessary. Hopefully there won't be a massive exodus of countryside ramblers from the cities. Otherwise I'd have to get a decent sized army togethr.

Luckily, as concerns food, Im fairly well off. There's a nice vegetable garden, a small orchard and plenty of fertile land in my property. Even better, there's a farm next door! I've got plenty of food on hand and all in all that shouldn't be a problem.

So, will I survive the coming collapse? How about you?

Which CFCer has the best chance of survival?

I'm young, poor and urban and living in a place where I have no network of friends/family nearby. Fodder.

I am not prepared. If I choose to prepare it will be because I find it amusing, ior because I think sudden anarchy has suddenly become far more likely, ior because preparation has become cheaper. At present I think that the cost of preparation to me exceeds the product of the probability of sudden anarchy and the value of preparation.

The only one possibly prepared is IglooDude.

I'll have had gear prepared beforehand. On the first night of it happening, I will don all my gear and head towards the gun store down the road. It'll have been looted undoubtedly but I'm sure there are a few guns left over. After procuring one and appropriate ammo, I will head straight east until I hit the mountains. Once I hit the mountains, I will make my way south to Oregon to see how my folks are, along the way learning the hard way how to hunt and prepare my own food. The peanut butter I pack into my gear beforehand should hold me for a little while as it's good on nutrition and lasts a long time. I'll also have to get used to the idea of killing people as there'll be some tweaked up people wanting what I have in my bag. I'll have to see how the situation develops after that but it could be an opportune time to found Cascadia.

i'm prepared. i have a fort, used to be owned by the British empire when they came to ireland. it's mine now. well enough guarded (me and my friend). its beside the sea so we can * fish. As for other sources of food...hmm...can u eat grass?

*try to

can u eat grass?
*try to

No the human stomach isnt designed to digest grass and extract nutriants from it. However some (very few) grasses can actually be eatern.

I live about ten miles from endless corn I could be fine for around six months, until winter hits then I'm . .. .. .. .ed.

:hatsoff:

But I'm not nearly prepared enough. Sure I have enough guns and ammo to wipe out roving mobs all day long, but no generator (fixing that this summer), not nearly enough gasoline, food, or water stocked up, and my house is not particularly defensible and my yard not at all. But we do have some very good friends that live a bit farther out in the country and I suspect that if it was "collapse of the US" type anarchy and not a temporary situation, we (and a few other mutual friends) would make our way out to join them and have strength in numbers and complementary skills.

I'm out of shape, but I think I would slim down plenty fast after I head off to live off the land in the Ozarks. And yeah, I really think I'd be capable of doing it. Grab one of the multitude of caves for my very own. It's not like I'd be greedy and try to take the entire Bridal Cave system or anything, just a little two room job would be just fine. ;)

I suppose the internet connection is broken, so I would probably suffer a massive nervous breakdown from CFC withdrawal.

Beside that... My house is not very isolated, but next to a small town. I have a little garden, not enough to grow my own food. The forest is not to far, with rivers and lakes, I could find place to hide.

I don't have much weapons... Just two bo kens, one jo, one tanto... and several kitchen knifes. And forks!

Well... I don't think I'm really prepared...

I'd do better at my mother's place, in the country side, with plenty of farms nearby.
