Ank06 - 3CC Conquest

Pre-flight – 1800 AD – Well things aren’t looking so good. Abu is as strong as he could be . The next war will need to start out defensively. With Abu throwing his forces against our fortresses. We have a very nice front right now. We need to make the mountains more accessible. And be able to put cannon up there. In the next war, Carthage is going to fold like a stack of cards. We’ll pull them in because we don’t want them behind us. Same with the Aztecs, although they’ll be worthless. They are both already worthless when it comes science.

1. 1804 AD – more railing. Bump lux to 10%.
2. 1806 AD – To make matters worse, Abu starts ToE. The Arabs are starting to congregate along our front. Complete two more tiles around Lugdunum, and move some workers to start roading the mountains due west of Lugdunum.
3. 1808 – working
IBT – It looks like Abu is going to attack Hannibal.
4. 1810 – more working.
IBT - Hannibal demands iron. Since it may help in the long run and I don’t feel like having to wipe him off the planet. I give it to him. There is now an Arab city on the eastern peninsula.
1812-1820 nada.

After Action – Iron Works completes next turn. That will boost production in Lugdunum nicely. Call it :smoke: but I split up our workers. I have some roading in the mountains and some improving around cities, not optimally. The increasing shields won’t make a difference yet. Lugdunum is at 15 uspt, Entremont is at 28, and Alesia is at 22 uspt. Each will have the potential to be well above 30.

Yo. Pick it up and play tonight.

I think we need to keep preparing for the final struggle. Should be able to try a steal soon. If and when we get infantry, I think we'll be ready for war.

I'll warmonger for a turn or two if you need to fill in the gaps.

Will be lurking.

So, the roster looks like this:

yoshi74 - somewhere...
Sir Bugsy - here
Gengis Khan - away?
Bede - here
pindicator - away for the summer
Ankka - here

So actually it's:

Bugs
Bede
Ankka
Maybe Gengis.

Will post later today.

Apologize for delay of game (work and COTM2 cut into available time)

n 1822 steal Replaceable Parts friom the Arab and start upgrading rifles.

The Arabs delcare on Carthage and the Aztecs honor their MPP.

A horde of Arab cavalry emerge from Tingis (~25) accompanied by an equivalent number of Infantry.

Accompanying picture shows 1 Arab stack. There are five(!) more about 1/3 that size. The Arabs took no losses at Tingis.

In 1824 Tingis collapses to the Arab cavalry and the flames reflect off the gathering storm clouds.

Yet more Arab infantry gather on our southern border.

Ank06_1830.jpg

In 1834 Iol and Calaris in the east are in Arab hands. The Arab cavlary takes its first losses at Iol.

Priduction orders are set to produce 2 Infantry and a battery every 3. By 1836 all units have completed upgrades. The work force is running rails and building forts in the mountains.

In 1836 with the Arab cavalry poised to overrun the Aztec borders in the east sell Steam Power to Monte, then gift him up to Replaceable Parts as he has rubber tight next to his capitol. Hire a scientist in Alesia and lower lux to 0 as the spt will build 1 battery in three turns and is at pace with Lugdunum and Entremont.

Abu show up at the gates of Entrmont to beg our help in crushing the "evil Aztecs" and seeking a free ride across our lands. Turn him down.

It is now 1840 and the Arab army has taken the Aztec capital and Monteis down to one ville on the east coast. The Cathaginains are still in the fight.

The rail net is almost finished, jsut need to close the buckle in the west, and the major part of the workforce is starting to creep the line forward toward Portland and Huexotia. As new units are produced they are distibuted within Artillery striking distance of those two towns. Both are due for a cultural expansion soon... which will putthe forward movment of our troops in jeopardy as the will be exposed to coutnerattacks before striking the town.

I have no idea of the size of the garrisons, other than to anticipate at least three, given the frequent fireworks displays hosted by the grateful populace.

the time is probabl ripe for a strike against Abu, as he is well committed to the east. One might wait until the large stack of infantry has moved further into the east, though:

I have seen no tanks, none. Could it be that Abu has no oil, which might explain his foray into the eastern jungles. Should that be the case, then I would be alert for Arab colonies down there. In that light I have a cav scouting south east looking road cutting on the way.

Well one way or another, this is going to be quite an ending.

Ankka, you want to take it?

Nice job Bede... If they have no oil, that's our last chance I would say. This ending is gonna be epic, whatever it is.

Roster looks like this, I think:

Bugs - on deck
Gengis
Bede - just played
Ankka - UP!

I think I will wait if someone else pops in... I guess no one has the courage to do it. ;)

I wil play today or tomorrow.

Anyone know where Gengis is?

Oh, and any clues on how to do it?

If Abu has loads of forces in the East, and Mainland in the West, we're gonna get a 2- front war... do we have the forces for it?

Revolt to monarchy first, then cut all the roads across the mountains to the east. It will cost us a luxury but it is gone anyway.

Concentrate the forces in the west to take the two closest cities first. Pound the stuffing out of them with artillery, take them with the "grunts', use cavalry raiding parties to cut the road connections behind them. Move enough workers so that you can build a fort in the rubble in one turn.

Two massed contingents, one going NW, one going SW will split his counter attack.

The best time to start is when the Infantry SoD is east of the mountains...if it doesn't get that far, everything I have just said will have to be rethought.

Combined arms and reducing casualities will be key, IMHO. Abu has lots of extra units. Let him throw his people against our forts and mountains. We should be able to maintain a fairly high win ratio by using the terrain.

I was also thinking that, stacks of infantries and artilleries on mountains will stop cavalries easily.

Luckily it's mostly mountains there, but propably a split of troops is needed between the East and the West... I hope our army is big enough.

1840AD [Preturn]: Check out to see where we are going. Looks like Monte found refuge on a ship... No wait, I see a city. Nevermind. Carthage is falling, Arabia is a monster... This will get ugly whatever we do.

Now what is this supposed to mean: we can't build the Military Academy anywhere, even though it shows on the list, it is gray. :hmm: None of our cities is building it... oh wait, we don't have enough cities for another army.

Upgrade one of the two cannons we have.

I wonder if Mobilization would boost our production enough to get infs/arts in 2 turns, at least in Lugdunum and Entremont... Well, I'll leave it for now.

Press enter hoping I didn't forget something...

IBT: Arabs destroy the Aztecs, as I guessed...

Looks like most of Abu's troops were there for that reason, and they start going West again. :( Let's see what happens...

1842ad_SoD.jpg

1842AD [1]: Upgrade second cannon, all our bombard thingies are artilleries now.

IBT: Arab troops go to East again...

Entremont inf > inf.
Lugdunum inf > inf.

1844AD [2]: The cav in the East is pillaging the roads that aren't on Abu's troops way... leave those so the troops get as far into the East as possible before they turn back.

IBT: The endless stream of Arabic units continues it's travel to the East...

Looks like the Southern one of the two last Western cities of the Carthaginians has fallen. Let's hope the one in the East holds for long enough for the Infs to go East enough...

Alesia art > art.

1846AD [3]: Pillage, build some rr and mining for Lugdunum to use when it grows in 2 turns, to possibly get production over 45.

IBT: Gah, the Eastern city of the Carthaginians fell a little too early, the biggest stack is still on the mountains...

1848AD [4]: I don't know what to do now. We don't have enough forces to defend both the East and West.

This is the biggest stakc, the one just SE of the little lake.
1848ad_SoD.jpg

Any ideas? I was thinking on waiting that Abu gets most of his troops into the West, but that'll take ages.
