[BTS] another Emperor Shadow Game

Hmm unfortunate with the Jumbos, but you did claim a very good long term spot imo.
Yup sailing for trade route, my general advice would be that on Emp you can afford such cities..road or not :)

I would seriously think about gold / Oasis / floodplains near your northwest warrior.
Map seems to be one of those where you settle in unusual ways, just to claim nice spots for later.
Probably plenty space for backfill south.
Road connections are nice, but not crucial if you can claim cities that will help you later.
Rice city strikes me as too weak.

First thought would be no sailing (for trade routes), it's very annoying but i might consider Archery for safety.
Usually barbs start rushing in on 3 cities average, not far away from that.

sorry for the delay, there have been other things I had to deal with recently...

I sent my settler NW, and to claim all of the stuff there (including the oasis), I have to settle right where the settler stands right now (1W of gold), right?

as for research, I follow your advice and go for Archery for safety reasons

Hmm i would settle 1N of gold to grab cows and fp.
You could then start with cottaging fps before improving gold.

Interesting game with an unusual settling pattern :)
But i think getting this gold city is good, border tensions with a passive AI like Church are okay.

Maybe doing this for a couple turns in Madrid would be good

Would offset some gpt problems until you stabilize with cottages and gold.

@Fippy a bit too unusual for me :D

two quick questions before I proceed:
- Stonehenge because of fail gold?
- I have noticed you have switched to Writing, does that indicate you would play without Archery? :)

Thanks

Most games you would skip archery. Only really needed if you fear an Ai attack and you have no metal or horse.
Fail gold for stonehenge. It's a low commerce start.

Yup failgold and commerce combined, unless you really want another worker or settler.
I switched to writing for an overview on how long techs need. Looks like you can skip Archery thou, with being mostly surrounded by AIs.

so I moved on to turn 60
Madrid is about to grow to size 5 (and still building Stonehenge)
Barcelona just finished a worker and now I am thinking about a Granary there (?)
Seville is building a Monument (hope that Barb archer 2N2W will not attack)

Writing is 6 turns away now (closer if that Stonehenge fail gold comes in early)
