Hmm unfortunate with the Jumbos, but you did claim a very good long term spot imo.
Yup sailing for trade route, my general advice would be that on Emp you can afford such cities..road or not
I would seriously think about gold / Oasis / floodplains near your northwest warrior.
Map seems to be one of those where you settle in unusual ways, just to claim nice spots for later.
Probably plenty space for backfill south.
Road connections are nice, but not crucial if you can claim cities that will help you later.
Rice city strikes me as too weak.
First thought would be no sailing (for trade routes), it's very annoying but i might consider Archery for safety.
Usually barbs start rushing in on 3 cities average, not far away from that.
