There has been a mod that parodies Bush's presidency of America. There has been one that made him the leader of the Texan civilization. The "New American Leaders" mod included him as a additional American leader. And now there is "Another George W. Bush Mod".

What makes this one different. Bush's Civilopedia biography is different. Bush's AI personality is different. Bush's diplomacy dialogue is different. There are a few other various differences, ranging from the fact that some of the other Bush mods are overall more primitive in design than mine or the fact that some of the other Bush mods are not updated for BTS. I'm not trying to suggest that my mod is better in everyway but I do think that my mod provides a unique experiance.

This particular Bush mod is meant to be semi serious. Not entirely what I originally planned but its what I ended up with.

******Version Information*****

Previous versions: (1.0) (1.1) (1.2) (1.3) (1.4) (1.5) (1.6)
Current version: (1.7)

Changes in version (1.7): George W. Bush's AI has been modified to somewhat increase his ability to maintain a war effort. His AI also no longer vassels out America while annoyed with potential masters. Also his autobiography has been updated and now covers the ending of his presidency.

******End Of Version Information*****

(Note: This mod is only compatible with the "Beyond The Sword" version of Civilization 4. This mod should be compatible with all official BTS patches up to (v3.19).)

*****Features Included In This Mod*****

1.) George W. Bush Animated Leaderhead.

2.) George W. Bush Button.

3.) George W. Bush Diplomacy Text Dialogue. (Based off of various comments the real life Bush has said. Some of the dialogue has been modified slightly. Only English version of text is included.)

4.) George W. Bush Civilopedia Autobiography. (Ghost written by Slobadog.)

5.) George W. Bush AI Personality

Spoiler :
His AI personality loves money, espionage, the military, warfare against distant enemies, lumbermills, trade deals, defense packs, police state. He really hates talking to his enemies, being nuked, being voted against, refusal to help during wartime, warmongers, being spied on, razing other peoples cites or having his own cities razed. He sometimes remembers the bad things you did longer than he remembers the good things you did. He is not much of a builder except when it comes to the catagories of money, espionage and military.

6.) Leader Traits. ("Aggressive" and "Protective".)

****End Of List****

What files do you need to alter to get a custom leader dialoge? I know where you put the custom dialog text, but how to make the leader use that text I always have problems with!

Can you help?

I don't think, you did anything wrong, I had the same problems. The reason why you never see the text you want is simple: Civ4 chooses randomly out of all allowed defined dialoges, including generic dialoges. So, if you have defined two dialogues for a specific leader, for example for friendly greeting, and there are additional 16 generic greetings Civ4 will choose out of 18 defined greetings. So, there is only a 1/9 chance that you will get one of the leader specific greetings. And the randomiser of Civ4 is really bad, so you might see them even less often.

You can do two things: Reduce the number of generic dialoges or define each leader specific dialoge multiple times, so they will be seen more often.

At least thats what I found out by trying. I found no documented different way, to make specific dialoges appear more often.

To add custom text go to Assets/XML/Text

To make a leader use the custom text go to Assets/XML/GameInfos/CIV4DiplomacyInfos

But as JustATourist said the leaders are programmed to randomly intermix generic dialogue with any added dialogue. The only exception I think is the greeting you get at first contact, but that is only because each leader only has one first contact greeting to choose from.

I tried this too. There is no exception with first contact greetings. If there are generic first contact greetings they will be intermixed too. I removed generic first contact greetings completly, so that at least the first contact greeting is leader specific.

Oh you're probably right.

Hmm... good idea, but the grammar's really full of mistakes... I don't want to be a spelling cop, but I don't want to spend hours repairing all the errors.

The grammar errors are intended to make the autobiography article seem more authentic.

The diplomacy dialogue is all based on various statements Bush has himself said. So any errors in their spelling or grammer is not my fault.

As a result your problem is not with the mistakes but with the style. I have no interest in changing the diplomacy dialogue's style but I'll look into coming up with a alternative style for the biography.

I meant the spelling... it's all out of whack. Even Bush, who is the king of presidential gaffes, can't misspell anything that comes out of his mouth.

I misspelled? Seriously? Hmmmm..... I'll have to go check my text files. Maybe you accidently recieved a early draft of the biography.

It's not just the biography but the diplomacy text.

I agree, Bush does not seem to misspell. Also you are correct about the errors in the autobiography and diplomacy text. This is now corrected.

This mod has been updated from version 1.0 to 1.1 and from 1.1 to 1.2.
Over the course of these updates Bush's autobiography and diplomacy dialogue has recieved spelling and grammar corrections. If you for some reason still find errors then please mention them. (Note: some grammar errors in the autobiography and diplomacy dialogue are intentional and are thus unaffected by this mod's updating. So if you find grammar errors that still exist and that you think are unintentional and thus overlooked then it would be helpful if you were very detailed in your description of the problem. Detail is important because it can be hard sometimes to tell the difference between a intended grammar error and a unintended one. On a different note: Bush's diplomacy dialogue was never intended so far to include a foreign language version. However a bunch of foreign language text has existed for Bush in version's 1.0 and 1.1. This text however was not intentional and is not a actual translation of Bush's English text. This unintended foreign text was just sections of other leader's foreign language text and represents a minor problem. This foreign text has been removed in version 1.2.

Warning!!!!!! The current version of this mod does not work. I am recieving an odd XML error message that i can't figure out. Very unusual.

I looked at it (while adding it to World 2008) and found that there's a comma where it shouldn't be.
Code:
	<Type>ART_DEF_LEADER_GEORGE_W_BUSH</Type>
	<Button>[B][COLOR="Red"],[/COLOR][/B]Art/interface/LeaderHeads/Bush.dds</Button>
I've highlighted it in red. That should only be there if you're referencing an Atlas, which you aren't. I'm not sure if it'll fix your error, but it'll fix something.

Oh, wait, I found a more dangerous one in a text file, which is making the file choke.
Code:
        <TEXT>
		<Tag>AI_DIPLO_NO_PEACE_LEADER_GEORGE_W_BUSH_15</Tag>
<English>Let me be very clear about this. Steroids ought to be banned from baseball.</English>
		<[B][COLOR="Red"]<[/COLOR][/B]French></French>

I overlooked that but interestingly enough it never caused any problems.

I fixed that problem easily awhile ago.

This below is the problem that I can't seem to even understand.

Failed loading XML file:
