Another Smith to Ruin Another Classic?

I heard that Wil Smith's son Jaden Smith will star in a remake of Karate Kid along with Jackie Chan. The movie is to be produced by Smith senior. Now I kind of feel bad criticizing little kids, but Jaden Smith is a horrible actor and only gets his roles because he's got a good father. Wil Smith's ambition for his son already ruined a timeless classic: check out Jaden Smith's utterly awful performance in The Day the Earth Stood Still and you will know what I meant, now he's going to ruin another one of my favorite movies.:mad:

I don't really see why the new thing of remakes is so surprising. Most art form thrived for Millenia on Remakes.

Hmm, I thought the OP was going to complain about I Am Legend. I don't really have many opinions on Jaden Smith; I didn't see the new Day the Earth Stood Still.

Also:
With all these remakes, I'm beginning to wonder if Hollywood has just run out of ideas. If so, can we please start spending money on things that matter?

We can't stop until Citizen Kane is remade as a gay melodrama. It will make up for the rest of them.

If you value your time in any way, do not watch the new The Day the Earth Stood Still, it is utterly awful and loaded with left-wing tree-hugging stupidity. I don't usually judge a movie by its political message, but this movie makes Al Gore's PowerPoint presentation looked like Lord of the Rings by comparison. Jaden Smith's character was annoying as hell and his acting poor beyond words. In the middle of the movie, my wife leaned over and said: "this brat needs a good :):):):):)-slap upside the head" and I totally agree. Wow, I can't imagine how he's going to screw up Karate Kids.
Btw, I Am Legend was a horrible movie, but it had some nice action scene to make up for the ******** acting and deficient storyline, so I will give it a 3/5.

I couldn't have said it better about the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. It butchered a wonderful sci-fi movie about humanity. About the only remake that evokes such bitter distaste in me is The Manchurian Candidate.

Better than Heston's Omega Man, but inferior to Price's The Last Man On Earth.

I came into possession of a bootleg version of The Day The Earth Stood Still. Even though I didn't pay a cent to see it I still want my ticket refunded.

Jackie Chan saying "wax on, wax off" and beating up some clueless teen bullies? How could that possibly fail?

I hate remakes in general. A few have been OK. Most of them have been just awful. But as long as people keep going to the theaters to watch them, Hollywood will keep churning them out.

Yeah, the movie will probably suck, but how is it going to ruin the original?

Burton's Planet of the Apes sucked goat scrotum - The original is still a masterpiece. Nothing ruined!

Nah, it's not the remakes showing Hollywood is running out of ideas, it's the fact that they're planning to make a movie about a board game that does.

Yeah he nailed it.

There are a few remakes that are alright compared to their originals: Sabrina, for example, but that's mostly due to having Harrison Ford.

King Kong was pretty good.

I am desperately trying to think of a remake that WAS any good.
