oh-kay . But what's exactly off-topic in suggesting that the war in Troy might have actually happened in a thread that aims to learn more about the date ? No answer on how the Greeks finally landed on a July day , hot and sticky , though . Maybe this is why it's off-topic ?

If we accept this Wikipedia to be accurate, the war does appear to have happened around the 13th Century BC.

Well, it doesn't exactly state the Trojan War happened but the city of Troy was destroy by war around this time.

Well, I believe Troy was destroyed several times in history. That one just fits the Tautological conclusion that the Mycenaean Greeks did it.
